Damn that is horrific...
I've only seen fenderbenders myself...well I was involved in a wreck worse than that one.
a late '80s Ford Econoline delivery van hit us offset at about 45 in our '89 MPV...I was sitting in the passenger seat, on our way to the bank, and we are at the light, ready to turn left onto a fairly big road. Our light turns green, we start going, and the Econoline ran the red and hit us off-set on the passenger front at about 45MPH. We did approxamately a 450 degree spin(in a MPV mind you)and ended up looking like we were turning right onto the street after spinning around. Me and my bro had seat belt bruises, and my mom had a slight neck pain. I literally saw the hood crumple right infront of me. it was strong enough to bend the front frame into the wheel and almost out the wheel well. But, through it all, from the beginning of the passneger door back was flawless. It was still running after the wreck too, my mom had to turn the MPV off. The MPV was totalled...it was fixable, but it woulda taken forever, and the frame would be weak. It was amasing...just the night before my dad did a full service on it, and it was in perfect condition then it was gone...I have no clue how it wasn't wercked more, it was stong. After the wreck, it was taken to my dad's place and sat for a couple of days(the next day after the wreck, my parents found our '92 MPV and bought it, we drove the new MPV to see the deceased MPV...it was tearful. The '89 was taken to a junkyard(but they didn't tell us which one) and we never saw it again...
And, before the wreck, my mom was thinking of driving the 323. I don't think I would be here if we took the 323 and got slammed like that...
At the yard my bro works at now, they had a White '92 MX-3 GS that was T-boned hard...hard enough that the door was pushing the drivers seat up into the roof(the roof was bent up from it) and the other seat(which was pushed into the passenger door), and the steering wheel was bent from it hitting it. I highly doubt that the driver survived in that one, the side was pushed in a good foot...it's still at the junkyard.
Also my uncle was T-boned in his '92 Protege...bent the support beam inbetween the doors in about 6 inches and it was totalled...he was OK though, and now he has a new Protege which he loves.
