Would you want a Forza style DLC system in GT games?

Only thing I want the same as Forza right now, is the 88 Fiero GT. Other then that, all xbox DLC seems overpriced from what I've see so far. Although, I've only seen a little bit of it on a friends box cause I don't own one.

I thought GT5 did have day one DLC.
£150 would have got me all the stealth cars in the signature edition.

£150 is quite a lot to access cars already on the disc isn't it?

That's labeled as Pre-order DLC. It's not First Day DLC as it can not be purchased from the PlayStation Store on day one.

How is that.

You buy the signature edition and you get the code.

No mention of pre ordering at all.

Oh my bad! I was mistaken on that part. It's not pre-order DLC. Sorry for the mistake. :ouch:

Either way it's still not first day DLC as it's not purchasable on the first day on the PlayStation Store as I had said.

Fully agree.

I think the debate was about company's charging for extra content that is available on day one.

Be it DLC or gamestore specific bonus'es, which I'm not too find of.

The £150 for access to Cars already on disc falls into this category IMHO.

Though the Scion FR-S at least has been 'confirmed' as future DLC for GT5, so we can expect a minimum of one 2012 car being added to the game's gargantuan car roster.

Anywho, back on topic. To conclude, would you think that a Forza-esque DLC system would work for the GT franchise, or should PD stick with the system they have now and release content updates "every two months or so"? Would you even want such a system implemented in the first place?

GT5's car roster isn't all that gargantuan. Only 220+ cars were GT5 cars and the rest were outdated, last-gen carry-overs. 220+ is still a lot, relative to most other racing games, but GT5's primary competition is Forza which had 400+ cars (zero last-gen carry-overs) for FM3 and 500+ for FM4. Forza has a gargantuan car roster.

As for GT5 having a Forza-esque DLC system, that isn't going to happen. To be like Forza, Polyphony would have needed to release DLC cars when the game was fresh and new, and not when most players have long since moved on. They'd also need to release ten Premium car models that aren't modified versions of existing car models per month every month, rather than releasing some rehashed versions of existing cars a year later and then maybe releasing some more every few months. Maybe they could try being more like Forza for GT6 here in a handful of years, but it's too late for GT5.

I'd actually kinda prefer a somewhat different strategy to DLC though. Instead of paying for a whole set of cars, like maybe ten bucks for ten cars, I'd rather pay one quid for a single car so I can get just the ones I really want. Throw ten new cars at me and let me choose the two or three I really want and get just those.

Forza DLC allows for separate purchases of cars if that's what you want.

Don't agree that Forza is GTs main rival though. Separate consoles and all that.

At least in GT5, players can enjoy their favorites form the previous games. I like that about the game. Forza doesn't supply this and only gives the latest models. That I don't like nor care about.

GT6... like Forza? 🤬 no! That would ruin a lot of the GT fanbase. It would possibly decrease in sales massively if it's going to go off of another game. That would terrible. Doesn't matter if they're rehashed, at least we got something right?

I would like individual car purchases. Most of the ones that came in that pack I didn't want but oh well.

Not sure if your serious here.

1957 Massrrati, Mkii Escort off the top of my head coming best week.
Which you can purchase seperately.
