Would you like the option to engine swap on GT5

I voted no because I think something like this could be used to cheat the PP system and bring even more horror to those trying to hold close online races.
How? And if so, just have the option to lock out cars with engine swaps. We should have that option for every tuning part anyway.

However, I do think it would be a cool idea to be able to swap certain engines from other cars ONLY if it was kept under certain limits. The new engine would actually have to be compatible with the gearbox and the size of the engine bay of the new car. Imagine a BMW V12 inside a Mini, not only would it be almost impossible to get the damn thing to fit in the first place, most of the engine (cooling etc.) and the chassis of the car would have to be drastically modified and then the gearbox would still probably explode under the power.

Rebuild the chassis, possibly put the engine in the back, and buy a new transmission. Problem solved.

The only limit on swaps should be the limit PD is willing to go in modeling the process. Put a Saturn V rocket in a Mini for all I care, there's no reason you can't. But I can see why a game developer would shy away from needing to estimate the properties and design of a 30 foot long, 60,000 lb Mini Cooper.

yes but with reason.

Things that swap in nice and easy like different options within a car manufacturer (or from a tuner like Tomei) would be acceptable.

Something crazy like fitting an AMG V12 in a 60's Fiat 500 is not.

You guys have no imagination.

No engine swaps, are we throwing reality out the window? This is supposed to be the real driving simulator, not boyracer fantasy island.

How are they supposed supposed to work out the reality (physics, dimensions) behind hundreds of theoretical engine swaps which may or may not even be possible?

I think we are entering the realms of fantasy here. Lets not burden PD with more then they already have to deal with.

Then engine swaps are OK.

The same way they model the engine in the cars already. The engine has dimensions, it has a weight, and it has a center of mass. What more do you need? Change some numbers in the cars and you have an engine swap.

You can just look at Forza to see how it works.

Yes i would like engine swapping, would be good if they kept it in reality. But the main reason i would support it is i would love to put a 2JZ in my IS 200, an MX5, a S2000, 240sx and probably a few other cars. Change out a few Honda engines, with better ones. and other swaps as well, to many to name really. Another thing to would be nice to do as well transmission swaps the stock getrag that is in the supra RZ is very good, and you don't have to hear that stupid high pitched wine of the racing transmission. And another idea would be cool to beable to convert a 4WD car to RWD, skyline to name one.

P.S when are we going to get a premium Supra RZ ????

I could care less about different motors. When it all comes down to it the numbers are the only thing that matters. I want a true simulation of a motor, not just the suspension and aero parts. Even the sounds that come from the engine are all physics based, you can hear every cylinder turning when your cranking it.

Yes, anything to fiddle around with and make GT5 more fun, I'm all for it.

They haven't got the "fun" factor in GT5 quite right. Everything else is great.

Absolutely yes one of the most popular and common real life tuning methods should definetly be ingame.

PD should already have or close to the dimensions of the engine and dimensions of the engine bay and as long as one can go inside the other its all good.

Other the past 10 years I have assisted with-

A I6 skyline engine into a 180sx (direct swap)
Hyabusa into a mini clubman (so much easier then a regualar stub front)
ca18det into a mk3 vw golf gti (pain in the backside with custom everything)
s20 into a reliant scimitar (which the owner stuffed on a track 9 days later).

Often its the cheapest and easiest way to get a substantial power jump into a older car, a firend online is currently putting a vw pd diesel engine into a MGB, the conversion will give the MG a massive power boost and twice the milage although at the current rate he is working at it should be done by 2030.

As an example of what you can do with just one obscure car-

A dozen different engine swaps.

Engine swaps would take drag racing to the next level and make it over 9000x as fun, but most likely we wont see anything like this until GT6:grumpy:

Engine swaps are pointless. Putting a 1000hp GTR engine into a 200SX would be the same as building a 1000hp 200sx to begin with.

It would be only realistic if the power deliver and sound would be different. Even then, it sounds pretty pointless to me.

I say leave the tacky crap like this for tacky games like forza. All I want is more racing tracks, more race cars (and more specifically, more historic race cars).

I swear, some of you people must be going down a checklist.

Whinge, whinge.

Being able to put a sr20 in a KPC or a Corvette engine in a RX-7 would be nuts.
