Let's see... A brash, ugly car aimed solely at boy racers who've somehow acquired more money than they ever deserve, or a modified Volvo? I'll take the Volvo, but I'd rather have it stock.

Flat 2 Comparison.

Mercedes C63 AMG 507 vs Volvo S60 R Polestar Edition; hmmm, very tough choice. I really adore the Polestar tuned volvos & the AMG mercs are epic. I guess I'll go with the Mercedes though since it's probably faster and worth more. Also, if I get sick of the Merc; I could sell it for a decent price and try some other performance car.

Daf 44 vs Toyota Publica P20; Ah, it's the first time I've seen roger actually type the names of the cars. Anyway, I guess I'll go with Toyota since I don't really know anything about the Daf manufacture, plus I prefer the look of the Toyota.

Your opinion is not something I can deny, so feel free to consider the C63 AMG as a "brash, ugly car", however saying that it's aimed at boy racers is factually incorrect and claiming that boy racers have more money than they deserve is again, incorrect. I would think of a boy racer as someone with a passion for speed and danger, so how does that mean that they do not deserve a good wage? Many of these "boy racers" are hard-working businessmen who take their car out to the track on weekends, so do these people not deserve a fun car? Our opinions on driving are very different and I can respect that, but I feel like you're letting your opinions bring others down. Also, as you've noticed, many people have chosen the C63, so does that mean we are all "boy racers" and that we don't deserve a car such as the C63? I just can't see where you were going with your post, so please enlighten me.

I did not say that boy racers have more money than they deserve. Income has no effect on whether or not a driver is a "boy racer", neither, funnily enough, does sex or gender.

What defines someone as a boy racer is driving around in a brash, antisocial, modified car*, breaking speed limits (and hopefully being arrested as a result), and generally generating hate from all those around them. Boy racers would not normally participate in track days.

One look at the AMG and my first thought was "boy racer's car", just the same as I would think if I saw this:

chav+car.jpg

The fact it's expensive makes no difference.

*The AMG fulfils all of these requirements.

I kind of agree with you. I think it looks a bit cheesy. Id say the volvo gives a more mature image

You're talking about the stereotypical teen that loves to race. Those kind of people are mostly into cheap, modified "JDM y0", whereas this is an expensive EDM car from a luxury car manufacturer, showing that this car has little appeal to boy racers. The Merc may be a bit too... flashy (at the lack of a better word), but I can't imagine a tracksuit-wearing chav drive it around, so I'd say it isn't a boy racer's car.

Also, that disgusting blue turd is not a car, at least not anymore.

I rarely agree with Rodger the Horse on cars but that Merc is way over the top and I would think is a product of a tasteless aftermarket tuner than the tuning arm of a respected luxury car OEM.

My point is, that to most people on the side of the street, the difference between "that disgusting blue turd" and a modified Mercedes is that whoever did that to the Mercedes (even if it is actually AMG) has done it to an expensive car rather than a cheap one, which is likely give the impression of either:

  • A teenager who somehow has an absurd amount of money and has used it to do naff modifications to an expensive car.
  • A middle aged accountant who has the mentality when it comes to car ownership of a teenager with more access to Halfords than sense.

Badasp5.0 has it about right.

I'll take the Subaru, but only because I don't see a need for excessively large trucks, especially if they're diesel.

It's a bit small by truck standards. It's not the Cummins Ram if that's what your thinking off.

Honestly, that Caprice isn't half bad.

Ahah I know there are bigger trucks, but I feel the original Ram is still far too large. Of course people will disagree, if everyone agreed with me then those trucks would not be in production right now because there would be no market for them. I just don't see the need for the Ram. If you need to transport raw materials, why not get a Hilux or maybe a van? If the raw materials are so big that they need a Ram to be transported in, then maybe it's time they were moved to a proper lorry.

Am I right in saying the majority of people that buy Dodge Rams don't transport raw materials?

I'll take the Impala because I don't want extra low profile "rimz" on my car... ever.

The Impala over the Caprice since it's more of a classic than that Caprice would be. Especially if I'm allowed to modify either. I would probably would do the following; paint it black or blue, lower it to a more tasteful height, upgrade the suspension & brakes, then do whatever else to make it faster around a track.

Nissan Pathfinder. My first car was a Dodge Ram 50 which shares the drivetrain/platform with the Raider, it was a gutless horrible I4(2.6L) that also got horrid MPG.

Tough call I like the 9-2x and 2G DSMs are neat little cars. I would have to go 9-2x I would love to have one to haul the kids around in.
