WRC 2 - Another Failure on the way from Milestone/Blackbean for us WRC Fans??

just seen a comment on the "WRC The Game" Facebook page and someone has already received a copy of WRC 2.:

"managed to recieve my copy in the post early. It's AWFUL! How could you possibly make G27 support WORSE! even with turning up linearity to max i have to turn my wheel 90 degrees to make a gentle (2-5 degree) turn?!?!?! why do I have to keep turning on FFB every time i start a race? Handling is awful, it's like driving on ice. Sounds are just as "Hollow" as before. This game is a joke, and worse than the first. I want a refund."

Another Comment:

"When you have reached rockbottom (wrc2010) all thoughts was that you could only get better!!! But no no! You idiots releses wrc2011!!! Even worse graphics and sound! And the idiot of co-driver is still in the game! Thank you for listening to us gamers!!"

This is a total f#@$'in disgrace, how can a title be worse than its previous release, I'll tell you why, cause Milestone /Blackbean are an incompetent bunch of wannabe programmers who we the WRC fans are stuck with for the next 3 releases of WRC games. Why on earth the FIA gave this title to them in beyond me and many others by the looks of it. A sad week for WRC fans all over the world which in fact is just total De Ja Vu from 12 months ago....
:banghead::banghead::banghead::mad::mad::mad:

That's all i needed to hear, no buy for me, ill rather have the people that did the dialogue for the original resident evil to feed me pace notes than that ****ing co-driver.
I know it sounds petty but that is one awful co-driver.

I got a copy of WRC 2 early, and your enjoyment of the game is going to depend entirely on whether or not it actually works with your wheel. I have a Logitech DFGT and it works perfectly with it. Which is strange since WRC2 apparently has next to zero support with G25/27 wheels. But hey, it works for me so i'm not complaining (this is the PC version).

Anyways, I wouldn't put this up there with Richard Burns Rally for realism. At least it is significantly more realistic than Dirt 3's, you never need to brake, gameplay. The rally stages though, I think, are fantastic. Very technical and challenging. By the 3rd season, you are getting into some truly difficult stages that require a lot of practice. See, you don't start off doing all of the locations and stages at once. You're an amateur rally driver in one of the smaller rally leagues, and you need to work your way up to the World Rally Championship. You build a team of engineers and managers, and research and development new parts for your rally cars. There are WRC cars from the 2008 - 2011 season, Group B, S2000, and some other groups.

And yes, the graphics don't even come close to match Dirt 3. Better looking than RBR (I would hope so anyways) but still nothing that really impressed me. They are acceptable, minus the cockpit view, which is absolutely terrible looking.

I feel like BlackBean is getting there, but they still need another year to get their **** together. What makes this game suffer the most is it's pathetic lack of wheel support.

I agree, I got WRC2 yesterday and it is alot better than last years. Yes the graphics and lighten/shadows have improved but are still a let down on PS3, the co driver robotic speech is still a let down too, and the cockpit views are still poor, especially when you use the zoomed in one which means you can't see what gear your in (I use manual), don't they test these games and notice this straight away?

Having said that its still good with the G25, you can map the buttons and change deadzone etc, and the feedback is improved over bumps and different surfaces. The courses are a challenge and they are now a serious amount of hairpins compared to last years so getting the corner right with the handbrake perfectly timed requires practice. Plus you get far more cars, better sounds with popping and whining, and (so far) what looks like a decent career mode with team management.

Blackbean are obviously setting out to steady improve it each year, eventually it will be a great game (its just good at momen) but is this acceptable to make money out of people every year with small improvements.

I still enjoy the rallying far more than the dirt3 which is no brake arcade style, even if the graphics are amazing on dirt3, WRC sits in between D3 and RBR for realism, I think it will be enough of a challenge to keep coming back for more.

Oh, and another thing, if you really play with the setup (difs, traction and brake bias) before each stage, it drives alot better with oversteer and left foot braking, imo it should of been setup up like that in the first place becuase there is way too much understeer until you set it up ok.

This user seems to have upload a few vids on WRC2 on youtube, watch on HD.

I disagree with everything he said, aside from the co-driver. Yes its not the best co-driver but hes far from the worst I have heard.

The gameplay is so much improved from the first game it actually took me by surprise a little! Graphically its lovely, on PC at least boosted to full GFX. Here some shots I took last night:
Note, the Peugeot 502 on Wales ones were before I changed the GFX settings to max. Also, it look much better in motion.

How did you manage to get a copy so early

Well i hope your right and it takes me by surprise too cause im dying for a decent all out rally game since Colin McRae back in the ps2 days, i'm not too worried about the graphics but it's good to hear more people saying positive things about the handling because up to now all previews have been shocking.

I might even give it a rent because as much as i try to like DIRT3 and get my rally fix on there its impossible when the stages are 90 seconds long, just as I start to get into a nice flow it's over .

I pre-ordered and it got delivered early for me. :)

Gonna have a go with the wheel in a bit to see whats what there.

It actually sucks with a wheel. I couldn't get it to feel right. Controller FTW lol.

Are you using a G25/G27? That's disappointing.
No mods interested in WRC? lol there's two threads going for this game now.

My PS3 copy of the game arrived today and I must say the game is great. Physics, graphics, sound all improved. Co-driver is still a robot but hey at least his calls are accurate. Great fun :D

Also the first game wasn't terrible it just looked a bit unfinished lol

Unfortunately I didn't have the time to get and play this on release - shame really.

Still, I have it now and am definitely not disappointed - only on the 5th season of the 'Road to the WRC' so still have plenty to do. Sure, the majority of stages are those from the first title, but improved with regard to handling, lighting makes the whole experience better - but with the addition of Argentina, Sardinia, Greece and Australia we get some very technical, often tight and complex stages. I really love the Rally of the Gods stages, Australia too 👍

Argentina and Sardinia though are the closest to RBR that I've seen from any game.

The co-driver is exactly the same as before - but that doesn't bother me really.

I even got the Japan DLC yesterday which has something like eight urban point-to-point stages that are great fun. I really wanted the East Africa Rally DLC but that seems to have been removed from the Playstation Store - going to have to look into that...

Online is still busy, plenty of folks at different levels to race against, which isn't just because the game is cheap now (actually kept its price longer than the first and it hasn't been reduced by quite so much either)

I do have a question for anyone who has done the 4th rally season - about the seven WRC Academy events: I just can't seem to tune that cursed Ford R2 properly for the Finland/France or Germany and Wales events - I never come in higher than 15th no matter what I try...anyone care to share a tune? I had no problems with the first two - won them both, so I don't understand why these particular stages are so hard by comparison.

Cheers in advance.

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the Group B cars I've tried so far are wild and insane - definitely must have re-worked them since the demo Moglet was on about - far feistier than GT5's Group B...

Here we go again, 3rd time lucky for the WRC devoted fans? time will tell

If they don't support Fanatec GT3RS wheels and Clubsport pedals this time round I buying a ticket to Italy to beat the **** out of the developers...

Here's a video of WRC 3 on the PS2 back in 2003 - Much of an improvement from the above nearly 10 years on???

Does anyone have an idea what happened to the Safari DLC - did it get withdrawn? I have the Tokyo one but couldn't find any mention of the Safari track on PSN.

Any info appreciated.
