Is it just me who finds games based off real championships a bit boring?

Your the guy who wanted to race aliens are you not?

I thought that was a good idea.

I found it much harder to talk to myself at night about what I've achieved in a game based off a real championship than a game that depicts a fictional one. I don't play many video games any more though so it doesn't really matter.

Sorry to hear your situation.

Well that video has surprised me, that looks a lot better than the previous releases. I had given up on this franchise but i think i'll keep an eye out for this years WRC 2012.
I've haven't been able to really enjoy a (real) rally game since Colin McRae 4 and the WRC games on the ps2, so i really hope they pull this off.

The biggest improvement needed over the past versions are in my opinion is the sound effects and the co-driver which i can't tell from that video if that has been tweaked.

Looking good so far tho 👍

I was gonna say: weren't the first two games in this series crap? Why would the third game be any different. The developer obviously thinks the reception of the first two was good enough to make a third, that should tell you that they don't know what the words "bad," "Graphics," and "crap" mean.

You need to understand that with new year, developers had new reason to release new game, but slightly changed. And with new number at the end of the title, so the competition did not did that before them and steal all the money

They have a contract with WRC, and I imagine that allows them to keep making the games whether they sell well or not. I'm not actually sure how well they do, i've never seen any sales figures.

Looking good, stages look tighter and if thats in game car sounds at the start it sounds better too.

I really hope they have support for the Fanatec GT3RS and Clubsport pedals this time round. Also I hope I actually get to purchase a North American copy unlike the last 2 times, Blackbean and Milestone are a bunch of muppets if ya ask me, such a pity they got to produce the WRC game when there are so many other better qualified gaming companies out there...

WRC Game website has been updated
http://www.wrcthegame.com/

From the site:

- Brand new Career mode
- Rallye Monte-Carlo
- VW Polo R WRC - Exclusive!
- Brand new routes for 7 Rallyes
- Brand new CoDriver voiceove
- REAL SOUNDS: the new engine allows a different management of in game sounds and effects. All the cars have been live recorded also with on board microphones to catch all the real effects heard by the drivers. For each country (EFIGS) a professional actor have been appointed to perform peace notes given by a real co-driver to guarantee a real on board environment to the player.

Nice vid and thanks for the details FahrerGott. Still enjoying WRC2 but the improved sounds will be a welcome change.

New stages look narrower which is good, but handling or physics look quite the same as last two, of course they have time to change things and we can only hope that new one is better, but I'm not confident in them.

Edit: video I wanted it post was already up on the previous page.

So this 'koda Fabia' thing is just an unlicensed rip off of the car I just spent the last hour sitting in the passenger seat of then? :yuck: If you can't get the license don't just make a clone and change one letter of the name.

Unless you are being sarcastic, i'm pretty sure it's a typo. Great over-reaction though, big fan.

I hope it is a typo, otherwise somebody's gonna be hearing from VAGs lawyers... Alas, I believe it was a typo, because, alas, that page was quite clearly originally written in Italian (the native language of the developers nation, Italy) and put through google translate without any proof reading afterwards.

Great over-reaction though, big fan.

Just to make things clear, are you a big fan of:

a) The WRC video games
b) The Skoda Fabia
c) People who over-react to things
d) Milestone S.r.l., the developers of the WRC video games
e) My comments
f) Typos
g) The song after which my user account is named

My interest in this years game has once again risen thanks to this, the previous co-driver was literally the most annoying thing i had hear in any racing game ever, let's hope it's a good improvement that goes for the car sound effects too.

Big dissapointment at the lack of a chance to cash in with Monte Carlo. No classic Mini? Alpine? Lancia Fulvia? Abarth? 👎

Still will get it though.

Yeah, I know the Group B was already on disc - hence why I didn't get it. The Safari track and Tokyo were actually quite good and an improvemet on the first attempt at DLC - see where I'm leading here?

Of course, I can't say for sure but as a number of elements for 3 seem to be based on Codemaster's style of doing things, you might well get your wish.

I decided to pick up WRC 2 and after playing it for a few days I'm enjoying it a lot. I know the graphics and sounds are quite sub par, but looking at the WRC 3 screenshots there should at least be some moderate improvement.

I'm really enjoying the physics in game, given that I don't have a PC capable of playing RBR. This was the next best thing for consoles that offered the core rally experience. I also own Dirt 1-3, and I really enjoy those games as well but this game gives off much more of a "sim" experience.

Overall I'm really looking forward to WRC 3, my major hope though is that they improve the strength of the FFB effects, and work out more of the finer details (possible physics improvements), and this could be one of the best console rally sims released to date.

After looking through the main site i've got a list of the cars in WRC3. Cars in Italics with underlines are new / returning from WRC1.

Citroen BX4 TC
Citroen C2 R2
Citroen C2 S1600
Citroen C4 WRC
Citroen DS3 R3
Citroën DS3 WRC
Fiat Abarth Grande Punto S2000
Ford Escort RS 1600
Ford RS200
Ford Fiesta R2
Ford Fiesta RS WRC
Ford Fiesta S2000
Ford Focus WRC
Ford Fiesta ST
Honda Civic R3
Lancia Delta Integrale HF - '91
Lancia Delta S4
MINI Countryman S2000
MINI John Cooper Works WRC
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III - '96
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X
Peugeot 205 T16
Peugeot 207 S2000
Peugeot 504
Proton Satria S2000
Renault 5 GT Turbo
Renault Clio R3
Renault Twingo R2
Škoda Fabia S2000
Subaru Impreza WRC - '97
Subaru Impreza WRC - '07
Subaru Impreza WRX Sti
Suzuki Swift S1600
Suzuki Swift Sport (R2)

Toyota Celica Turbo 4WD - '92
Volkswagen Polo R WRC

Couple points. As far as I can tell the only (announced) new cars are the Mini Countryman S2000, Proton Satria S2000, and VW Polo R WRC. However I don't remember the Renault Twingo in WRC 1? Also i'll be interested in how the old S1600 cars are integrated, there's a fair old load of them. And also its nice to see the old WRC cars, the 300hp Focus / C4 / Impreza combo back.

Overall seems the license is being used pretty well I reckon, looks good.
