Well I tried out the PS3 demo (using G25) and I must say I am impressed, as good as it looks in videos I always had low exectations for this game going by the demos of the last versions but this one seems much improved, physics while not fully sim like are adequate enough to enjoy for me and I wont complain about them as there isn't exactly piles of WRC games knocking the doors down.
The brake bias is very central leading oversteer on braking, I tried to adjust them in the setup but couldn't I am sure pushing the bias forward would fix excessive oversteer.

Overall I am impressed.

I definitely can't wait to play around with those settings - quite a good range too.

I have a phone interview in an hour, so I've been preparing for that all morning and most of last night - can't wait to get back to the demo though, it's been painful :)

I downloaded the demo last night, and was pleasantly surprised at how much fun this game is. I didn't buy an official WRC game in years, because I tried the first two games and they were really unrealistic, but this is great, not a sim but realistic enough to enjoy and the stages look to be a realistic width too.
I played using DS3 and found no problems besides when I tried it with out the brake help, then it was near impossible to brake without locking up, even with really light use.

Playing the demo now on PS3, very impressed with the visuals and physics. Heck even the sounds are bearable this time! Engine sounds are still weak but at least they aren't annoying like the previous versions.

Stages are very narrow as they should be. I'm just using a ds3 and it's quite hard getting a clean stage. Will be much better with a wheel when I buy it for PC.

Best thing about this demo is the menu! The menu graphics/art and music are seriously good. Given the amount of time we spend in the menus it does become very important.

Overall I reckon this is going to be a star release for me. Picking this over F1 2012.

Mine is just dowloading now, i hope its as good as you guys say it is!👍

Just ran the single stage. Like everyone here I am also very impressed. :) The physics are nice, especially on the tarmac where I had a smile on my face for most of it! The graphics are more than adequate enough to enjoy. I found 2nd gear a bit too short for the gravel stuff - probably just me lol. Them scraping noises are a bit annoying too. I also dropped my FFB to half way.

Where the speed picks up a bit for a short time in the last half of the stage is really cool, and now I can't wait to try out a faster stage. Will most probably be pre-ordering this game.

Anyone else unable to adjust wheel settings, all I seem to be able to change is ff strength

You can only change ffb during a stage. If you go to options from the main menu and then press the triangle button from the wheel screen you should be able to change the other parameters.

I agree about the tarmac. It's great coming off the gravel and back onto that quick bit of tarmac. Hopefully there will be just as much difference between all the other surface types.

Thanks for the help mate

It's addictive 👍

First off getting the part-stage completed, then winning it...then doing so clean.

I like the Road To Glory bit too when it marks you on not only your position but how many clean sections, line and how well you drove.

I hope the full game replays have a photo mode like in WRC 2 as I particularly like the effects in the demo replays - it gives a really interesting 3D look with the miniaturisation effect used. Maybe that's just one filter out of a few, I don't know, but that would be great if it was the case.

Right, back to it.

I also like the driving tips comments: "Expect left, right, jump, straight, left, bump...WOAH!"

Addictive indeed. I absolutely love it. I'm playing on the hardest available difficulty, with only the speedometer on and heavy damage, however with braking help (ABS) on and thus far semi-automatic on. I managed to get a 3rd place as best so far, with only +.90 from first place due to some mistakes along the stage.

The physics seemed a bit off when I first played it (in 3rd person view and cockpit view) but as soon as I changed to bonnet view, it all made sense. Can't complain about the graphics or the sounds either.

Overall, I'm really impressed with the demo. Better than I expected it to be.

Gave it a quick go with a DS3, I suck at it but it's fun. I'll try the PC demo, if it ever happens, and see what it's like with the G27. I can't really comment on physics and all that but the Fiesta on tarmac does feel pretty close to what I'd expect from a lightweight car with a serious AWD system.

Why wait for PC demo, just plug your G27 into PS3 ;)

+1 same here, tried with G27 and pre-ordered

It's a little too snug in it's current home, unfortunately!

Have you triple screened the demo?

Edit: Apologies, just understood. Throw up a triple screen of the pc demo when and if you can.

Both previous WRC games you could re-assign the controls of the DS3 so I doubt that function will be missing from the game when it comes out - it's only the default we have at the moment.

You can re-assign every button (like I said, customizable controls are a plus), but it is just almost undrivable with all aids off. It's a mix between input lag, spongy controls and too sensitive controls (wheels lock up with ~40% brake pressure given, come on). The overall feeling is completely off.

Cool setup!!!

Thanks, there are better out there but mine was relatively cheap!

Will do, shame I can't make videos at that resolution really.

Well, I downloaded and spent 20 minutes on the PS3 demo. Played it as basically standard settings as my skill set is restricted to very average

Some things I noticed in 20 minutes, which bode well for the full game, as if I could notice it in that short a timespan it must have been significant:

1) The difference in handling between the WRC car and the Fiesta was substantial even on my standard settings, the WRC was easy to thrash around, but then I switched to the Fiesta and it took a couple of run throughs to handle the change. That's a plus point.
2) No problems with graphics - stages looked bright and varied with decent enough track and background though dirt kicking up from the stage seemed limited compared with my expectations. Sounds of the stage themselves were fine but the cars were hmmm needing improvement.
3) Biggest thing for me was getting through the 4m30 6km stage was a challenge even on the standard settings. This suggests to me that they have the difficulty level nicely handled.
4) There was a definite feeling (and possibly an out loud comment) of "oh crap" on the 6km stage when I went over that mini crest which is followed by a small right bend, a real sense of trepidation not knowing what was coming next. If you have played it you will know the crest I mean, not very big but very blind and quite fast at that point too. I haven't had that feeling since WRC on the PS2!!!

So, in summary, I was totally sold the instant I got to 4) and yelled like a baby

Just the thing to keep me going when I get back from my hols in October...

Once you master the stage(s), the AI doesn't seem to be that challenging at all. They're now 7-9 seconds behind my stage times. I'm getting low 4:14's and the best the AI will do is just around 4:22.

I say kick it up a notch! :dopey:

The game is great! Much better than the previous 2!

Will be picking this up I think.

I've found difficulty bar and raised to max. now game became more challenging. I starting hand break usage lessons :) 👍👍

I got 4:18 on my last run, I think I only used the handbrake on the corner where the co-driver says to use the handbrake, but I might have used it in other places without thinking about it.

I've watched my replay and I'm not smooth enough. So if i want to be fast i need to me also smooth during entire stage. I think i am going to download WRC 2 now just to have some more fun before WRC 3 comes out. I just love gravel section.

You'll love Greece then and possibly Jordan.

Definitely going to download WRC 2 now :)
