Never heard of it what is the car name exactly??
It's an MG3.

Personally, if I was trying to bring a new marque into the WRC, I would have gone to Honda to get the Civic, or Volvo for the C30 before I tried for an MG.

C30 sure, not sure the Civic in WRC helps the image to sell them since WTCC is more toward the roots of that car. Volvo is everything so I could see that being a good fit.

I'd go for the Civic because it has been successful elsewhere. It might not fit the roots of the car, but Honda has been pushing out into multiple racing series - the WTCC, BTCC, and, of course, Formula 1. They might be open to further expansion, especially since there is currently no Japanese manufacturer in the WRC.

Plus, there have been rumours that Honda is interested in building an R5 Civic depending on how the next generation of WRC regulations play out. It's been suggested that WRC will be discontinued, and R5 will take its place, in which case building an R5 now and developing it would give any manufacturers a pretty decent advantage.

I know what an MG3 looks like, it's hard to tell it's one from an image alone especially a Photoshopped rally car image. I don't use FB anymore and haven't for years now hence me asking what I did. PM squared it up.

Hyundai are entering a third i20 for Portugal. Neuville, Sordo and Hanninen will all take part, though Sordo will not be eligible for manufacturers' points.

Not sure what Facebook has to do with anything. You asked a question, I gave an answer.

I don't see PM's posts so yeah.

There ya go PM explained that too, unless you have the guy on ignore and can't see his posts in general. Point is I know what MG is I just couldn't tell what the hell that photoshopped Rally car was and since I don't have FB (which is where the story came from) that is why I couldn't get any info without asking or reactivating my account.

I know. You asked for info, I gave info, I don't see the problem..

There isn't a problem, just didn't need the mass MG3 picture is all. And by never heard of it I meant the group that was trying to bring the manufacture to WRC, that is who I wanted to know more about as well as the car.

Nobody seems to know much about them, to he honest. We know it's an effort being led by Tamrazov, and that he has made the occasional appearance at the WRC level and sometimes leases his car out to others. He seems to be fairly involved with the sport on a national level as well, because he has crossed paths with other Ukrainian drivers like Protasov and Gorban a few times.

But otherwise, practically nothing is known about the plan.

Thanks for the info then I can see why I haven't heard too much of it from other places outside of FB or here more importantly

According to Autosport, Tamrazov has actually built the MG3 WRC and is just seeking MG's approval to enter the car in rallies.

I'm disappointed with Elfyn Evans' performance again, bringing the car home for points is fine but he needs some pace to avoid being labelled Matthew Wilson 2.0.

Meanwhile on Stage 8 of Rally Mexico Hirvonen and Meeke have both broken down promoting Kubica to 4th, Evans 5th and Neuville 6th in the underpowered Hyundai.

Kubica has rolled. Again. And this time, he's out-done himself: he rolled on the first stage, which is barely a kilometre long, and most of which is taken up by a narrow underground tunnel.

Not quite, he had made it through 145km and was in 4th place and rolled on the super special, not the first stage...

Mads Ostberg has had a great rally so far but could be out, he has wrecked his left-rear suspension on the first stage of the day, next up is the 54km monster...

If he doesn't make it through Elfyn Evans and Thierry Neuville will be battling for a podium!

Stage 13: Kubica and Mikkelsen have both had their second crashes of the rally.

Hyundai might have scored their first WRC podium (I don't think the Accent had one), I say might because he has a water leak on the way back to service after the final competitive stage, if he doesn't make it back he is out of the rally.

Meanwhile Ogier won the rally with Latvala 2nd.

Edit: Neuville made it home to finish 3rd ahead of Evans and Prokop

How good was Ogier at the weekend? he was in a league of his own with 12 stages wins...so impressive!

Toyota have started testing the Yaris WRC in Italy, with Stephane Sarrazin and Sebastian Lindbom behind the wheel.

It looks like Toyota are taking a page from Volkswagen's book, and will spend some time in development - the Yaris WRC won't race next year, and may not even compete full-time until 2017, when the category is scheduled to undergo another technical overhaul.

The FIA are yet to make any formal decision. The category was expected to introduce new rules for 2015, but it was felt that this was too soon, since Volkswagen and Hyundai had only just joined.

It is expected that the World Rally Car category will be discontinued, and replaced by R5.

Meh, current WRC cars are just so boring. Why can't they use more exciting cars anymore, instead of small hatchbacks. I miss the days of Imprezas and Evos.

Because that's what sells, and shorter wheelbases help in rallying.

Main reason the cars are so small is becuse FIA reduced the minimum lenght to make it possible for manufacturers to use more affordable small cars. They could cut the cost alot if they went back to group A. Rally used to be alot more exciting but the FIA thinks making the cars look more like cars made for disabled people will make people more excited. These cars looks ridiculous.
