Too expensive and completely impractical.

According to José Pedro Fontes an 911 GT3 Cup RGT costs half the price of a Fiesta R5, the running costs are same as a Group N car and with the right driver it's faster than any R5.

Didn't know there was a rally this weekend...

Congrats to Neuville and Hyundai for their first victory at WRC Rally Germany!

Common sense has prevailed, with the WMSC shooting down a proposal for rally results being decided by s shoot-out on the final stage.

I'd like to believe that I played a part in that, since I met Gary Connolly at a wedding a few weeks ago, but the topic never came up.

Kubica has got stuck in a ditch on the powerstage in France (he may have rolled it), he was on course for a career best 4th place.

Sebastien Ogier is on the verge of securing his second World Championship this weekend. He just needs to out-score Jari-Matti Latvala in Catalunya and its his.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen have announced Ogier, Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen will continue with them in 2015.

Anyone else coming to wales in a few weeks? It hasn't gained much publicity yet but there's a Porsche GT3 running the first (AFAIK) WRC gravel round for the R-GT. To be honest I don't know if you could have picked a worse one to start with, as the stages are so different to anywhere else. But I still can't wait to hear that flat 6 purring through the foggy, muddy forests first hand!

This will be hilarious when he is miles ahead of the other citroen drivers.

Loeb in Monte? I have a feeling this will be the only rally Volkswagen won´t win. He could participate in 2 rallies and make it 80 wins.

Autosport are reporting that Toyota are drawing up a timeline for a return to the WRC, which they expect will be finalised - and possibly even confirmed - in the new year.

The 2015 Monte Carlo entry list has been published in the past few days, and it's a good one. Ogier, Latvala and Mikkelsen will compete with VW, while Citroen will enter works DS3s for Meeke and Loeb, with Ostberg in a non-manufacturer car. Hyundai will keep two i20s for Neuville and Sordo, while M-Sport will put up two Fiestas for Tanak and Evans. Prokop, Bertelli, Kubica, Henning Solberg and Raoux will enter private Fiestas, while Protasov and Chardonnet will get private DS3s.

EDIT: I forgot about Bryan Bouffier - he will be back in a privately-entered Fiesta.

EDIT EDIT: Also picking up some interesting rumours. First, Alsace could be out, with the Tour de Corse returning as the Rally of France. This makes sense, as Alsace was only sustained by the novelty of being Loeb's birthplace. Crowd numbers were down this year, even with Ogier assuming Loeb's mantle, so I would say the days of the rally being run out of Strasbourg as numbered. Conversely, the Tour de Corse was dropped from the WRC following a lack of funds, and I see no evidence to suggest the problem has been remedied.

Secondly, there are rumours that Toyota could move their timetable up to enter in 2016 - which does seem a bit optimistic, given that there are no firm plans for 2017, much less 2016 - with ex-Volkswagen junior driver Kevin Abbring targeted as one drive and upcoming French driver Eric Camilli tipped as the other. Camilli appears on the Monte Carlo entry list, running a privately-backed Fiesta R5 in the WRC-2, but there is no obvious connection to Toyota and Abbring is not entering.

Peugeot are at Monte with Breen and Hirschi in 208 R5s, the first of several WRC events Peugeot are doing with the R5 this year. Abbring of course was Breens teammate in ERC last year so you'd of expected him to be there, but with him absent it leads the rumours of him being picked up by Toyota to be true.

It looks like really tough conditions in Austria for the Janner Rallye, huge gaps are forming already as the drivers struggle in the snow.

Hannu Mikkola.
I know how to spell his name. I also know that "j" is under "u" and above "n" on a QWERTY keyboard, and that sometimes I type too quickly for my own good. But there's no need to go around correcting every spelling mistake.

Sorry for that. I guess I've just seen names spelled wrong too many times even on the TV to remember, that it can be just a simple typing mistake.

M-Sport unveil their 2015 livery, which they say is a tribute to several legendary Ford drivers and cars - including Hanju Mikkola, Colin McRae and the Sierra RS Cosworth and Mk.II Cortina - but which looks like a Falken Tyres livery:

That is HOT! :O

The colours reminded me of the Tommi Makinen Escort from 20 years ago for some reason (I guess that's just me showing who my favourite driver was), the Falken style stripes are a nice modern touch.
