Hey guys, new to the forum, and just like everyone else, waiting for
this so called GT5 to come out.. :grumpy:. But it's ok. It's given me time to
make some more improvements to my g25 cockpit. Thought I'd share my
newest addition; a WRC style handbrake. (the cockpit may look familiar).
Made a little video as well testing out the e-brake, but it's on Dirt 2. Kind
of the only Rally game I've got right now. Can't wait for GT5 rally!!

haha, thnx Cliff. It's a 350mm Momo Monte Carlo. Don't normally use it when playing, I had a beat up 320mm which I actually use (just looks really crappy for pics). The smaller size feels a little better.

Wheres the mod instructions for a Rally style handbrake? also you have a regular handbrake next to you did you just wire regular handbrake to circle then wired the rally handbrake to square? Didnt even think about having two handbrake options props!

Both Handbrakes are just wired together since they consists of the same type of switch(open when pressed, closed when unpressed). Most e-brake light switches work this way and are pretty easy to work with. I just wired both of these switches together considering you're either going to be using one or the other e-brake, depending on the type of driving your doing. They are both connected to the circle button on the main board of the shifter, not sure if console games allow you set a function to multiple buttons, maybe a PC game might. I'm probably going to dismantle the rally hand brake this weekend to spray the base, I'll take some pictures.

Did you use chilicokes mod for that? how did you set up the base of the handbrake and did you buy that handbrake or custom build it? If you built it what material did you use?

Yeah, I modded the board pretty much the same way he did. The WRC hand brake is hand built, the normal one just came out of a 99 civic?? Can't really remember. But the base of the WRC e-brake, I had some metal brackets sitting in the garage that I was able to weld together to fit the lever. The lever is a stainless steal pipe inside an aluminum pipe so the height can be adjusted. The lever pivots on a combination of a bolt and bushings. All that was needed to make it work was a heavy spring and the light switch.

sounds like a lot of work. where did you get the heavy spring at? you got some engenering skills man.

Thanks Sin, I actually had springs in my garage, not really sure what they were specifically used for though. I know Lowes or Home Depot sells a variety of springs, if I hadn't found anything at home, I was going to head there or checking online. I think the hardest part was getting the tension from the spring just right, after you have the base, it's just a matter of drilling holes. I tried torching the spring, and shaping it to the right length but couldn't get it right. I ended up just putting a rubber grommet to apply a little pressure onto the spring before the initial pull of the lever. Good luck with your GT seat build!!

i took the g25 shifter as handbrake as 6 gears are not needed. But on pc, don't know if that's possible on the ps3

any chance the plans for this cockpit are available? looks exactly like what I would love to build and this seems to be an exact copy of chili cokes sooooo what gives ha;)

Yes nice work. Now all you need is a rally style shifter.

Hi mate did the wiring work 1st time as i have seen another way to chillicokes way and you dont have to take the shifter out just dont no which was is the best as dont wana stuff my g25 thanks nice seat up
