Pick up the GT5 box, turn it around and read it. A part says "Enhanced A-Spec and B-Spec modes"

What?

Maybe that's there purely to highlight how it differs from GT5P. Seeing as GT5P had neither A-spec (in the form we know it now) nor B-spec.

Just marketing terminology. It makes it sound better than it is.

Ever heard of a game which had both called, what was it again? GT4?

I'm not quite sure of the intentions of your comment. Is this a joke at the expense of the game, or a joke at the expense of myself and the OP?

If it is the later, yes GT4 has both. So does GT5. GT5P only had A-SPEC (of sorts). I was merely suggesting why I thought PD said "Enhanced A-Spec and B-Spec" - marketing purposes.

You don't get what I was talking about.

By saying "What?" is when I was like "WTF" because A-Spec was actually a lot better in GT4. So why did PD say it was "enhanced" in GT5?

A-Spec in GT5 is rubbish.

Because GT5 is the first full GT game of the current console generation. It's enhanced compared to GT5p.

Maybe but in my opinion they shouldn't say that!

It should be compared to GT4, the last full GT game.

They said it because they were really digging to the bottom of the barrel for things to put on the box. If you havnt noticed half of the other features on the box didnt even ship with the game.

It's just marketing jibberish clearly (in my mind at least) referring to GT5's predecessor GT4, not a joke aimed at you or the game, regardless whether it's actually (hence I used marketing jibberish) accurate.
Regardless from the fact this is subjective, you didn't expect it to read "we've downgraded both A-spec and B-spec and made B-spec a pointless boring exercise still needed to win certain cars and reach game completion" now did you? ;)

They shouldn't say it, but they do. To get the most money from this game though, they have to make it appeal to people who have never heard of GT before. New customers that browse video game stores looking for games to buy.

If you were a new customer that knew nothing of GT, which would sound better "A-Spec and B-Spec mode" or "Enhanced A-spec and B-spec mode".

The packaging is designed to attract customers attention and get sales. It has to look good and sound good, and adding a few adjectives here and there is basic marketing technique.

Did this need a thread?

It's marketing, they wouldn't put in the blurb "Majorly reworked B-Spec but you probably won't enjoy A-Spec as much as before" now would they.

Enhanced since the last time they gave you both A-spec and B-spec, i.e. GT4.

It's just marketing spin. You didn't really expect them to say:

"A-spec and B-spec are back but not as good as last time...don't worry though, there will be patches!"

Did you lol?

:)

That would be a truthful quote on the box! Some negative things are actually true! Companies always hide that.

Just like a Whopper in a Burger King advert which looks perfect, but when you actually get it in real life, it's a mess!

Welcome to the world of lies and deceit called advertising and marketing (part of modern life for ages), although strictly speaking the word enhanced can mean a lot of things, not just subjectively, so legally and factually they can use it to describe a difference I guess.

Sorry I have to hijack this thread! :) Whats up Analog long time no see.

Marketing: Did you see the new clothes with the GT Logo on them? It's all about selling you anything and everything.

I would assume that the "Enhanced" references the usage of levels to reach each tier of races instead of using license tests. Seeing has how this is the first one to use experience points.
