Gamepacks?

The games are on Dvd discs, thus burning a game onto a dvd disc will allow play in a mod'ed xbox.

It all depends on the type of media you use, the cd burner and the xbox. I have a version 1.0 xbox and using cheap no name media (both cd-r and rw) burnt with my TDK drive the box can read. If I use branded media I get the same results but when I use my old philips drive with both types of media it cannot read. As a general rule though my xbox as well as my friends all can read cd-rw discs

It seems ludicrous in this day and age, but they did it.

They seem to have intentionally made the xbox laser
incapable of reading any CDr disc. The laser needs to be
set to a minimum power rating to read through die-sublimated discs, as opposed to the clear plastic of professionally duplicated "silver" discs.

As a major CD collector though, it peeves me. The xbox is hooked up to the best stereo system in the house, as it is the center of my entertainment system. I can play my favorite major-label CDs through it.

But I also have other discs I'd like to hear on a big system: I have CDs that i bought through mp3.com which are made-to-order. I have a tour disc from a local LA band called GoldSpot that was replicated and sold for $8. I have a CD bought from my favorite band Animal 32 that was made in Cameron's house. I payed for these. They are legally copyrighted works and I wish the xbox would play them - but it doesn't.

It also seems really stupid that the xbox doesn't read CD-text. Not a big deal, but I would think being like a comnputer, and having a full screen display, you'd like to get more than just Track 1, Track 2. I have commercial CDs that have shown the CD-text in cd-text readers. Anyway, that's my two cents.

my xbox wont play copied audios either but my dads will there serial numbers are only 100,000,000 they were bought a week apart from each other but the older one plays cd rs but the newer one wont it sux and cause its only like 3 weeks old i cant get ti chiped cause it will void the warrenty but its funny canse mydads only started playing cdrs eversince he beat crap in to it causer it beat him at halo!

ive got a fairly new xbox (just bought it november 2003 when PG2 came out, and mine plays any and every cd-r i have w/ no problems at all, all brands, doesnt matter what it was burned on. My friends older xbox tho (a release xbox) only reads a certain brand of cd-rw and nothing else. so it really just depends on which xbox you have
