Not on mine anyways.. anybody else try burning a cd and adding it the hard drive? Mine wont even load the disc.. damn you to h-e-double hockey sticks Microsoft!

I tried one using Roxio's Easy Cd Creator 5 Platinum and one using Nero.. neither of the two worked

Yea, it plays fine in the car.. but when I go to copy it onto the xbox hard drive it can't even recognize the disc

Does it play without being copied from the disc?

I wonder if the Xbox has some kind of anti-piracy measure that refuses to read berned CDs.....?

I cant even load the cd in the x box.. it always say Unable to read cd or some error like that, it isn't scratched.. there is nothing wrong with the cd.. it's the microsoft conspiracy! :(

The XBox drive doesn't read CD-R or CD-RW disks. It doesn't read DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, or DVD+RW either.

It only reads audio CD and XBox DVD game disks.

In addition to the drive not reading them, the BIOS doesn't recognize them either. So even if you crack the bastard open and plug in a standard drive, it still won't load them up. You'll need a mod-chip for such activities. At that point it's not worth it.

Why would it be worth it in the first place? There are so many alternatives to what you're trying to accomplish.

So get your original, legitimately-purchased CDs out and take whatever songs you want off of them for use on your XBox. What's the problem?

So how does it distinguish a CD-R from a commercially produced CD? SCMS?

I'm not about to go buy 70$ worth of cds for only 10 songs.. no way in hell

And Loud, I wasn't really trying to accomplish anything.. just stating that the xbox cant even read burnt cds.. atleast ps2 can read them but ps2 is boring already..

"commercially produced CDs" use a different file structure than CD-Rs.

Why do you want them on your XBox so bad? Why not just play them on your computer where you downloaded them the first time?

Really? I figured if you burned a music CD it would have to have the same file structure as a commercial one. Otherwise, how can older players (i.e., not designed to read CD-Rs) read them?

That's what I'm saying...when the CD has been closed (or finalized, as some say) a table of contents is written and the disc should be readable by most players (which will treat it as a regular CD).

of course its a closed cd..if it wasnt it wouldnt work in my cd player

but I fixed the problem, I got an Enigmah mod chip, replaced the hard drive, added the new EvoX GUI and now have the best system out, you can play NES, SNES, N64, PS1, GB, GBA, and couple others on X-Box with the EvoX GUI, can copy games directly to my hard drive to play them also.. blockbuster here I come!

They can't ... or at least they shouldn't.

My friends did. He took it right out of the box and we popped in a CD-R that he burned at my place and we listened to it. The thing is, mine can't. What's the deal?

might be the newer versions of x box.. just buy a mod chip, its only 30$ installion is simple and you get complete control over your system

Sweeet. w@r3z city here we come! :p

I saw a Genesis emulator for the PS2. I thought it would be cool until I saw how much work it required. I think I'll stick to emulating on my PC. :)

I just read somewhere.. don't remember where but it said

CD-R Media is console dependant as some CD-R media will work in certain Xbox consoles while not work in others.

I'm sorry but I dont have that kind of money to throw aroun.. maybe if the cd's were ...... 5$ instead of 15$ and ^

I have a Job, still not going to pay 15$ for one song, but I fixed the problem when I installed the modchip so no worries
