The X-box has more power than the PS2. I wouldnt be suprised if it had problems. Microsoft is known for having faulty equiptment at first.

Has anybody seen any commercials about it? I havent.

Yeah, it's MS...I knew there was a reason I didn't want to buy an Xbox.... :D

Seriously, I've tried one of the demos....it was good but I'm not about to trash my PS2 to buy it. I think this may be another Genesis/SNES type affair. You know, two popular systems with exclusive, in-demand titles, each with roughly equivalent demonstrable power (SNES was better tho :D ). Maybe we'll have another neck-and-neck system race for a few years.... :) Makes me happy. :)

If you only have enough resources (money) to go down one console route ... where do you go?

Well, my little group of geek friends and I agree that the PS2 is definitly the way to go. Sony has an amazing history of delivering outstanding quality, and standing behind their products. They may not have the most bad ass item on the market, but it more than gets the job done. And I don't have to worry about something going wrong in the near future.

The XBox may look cool, but hell man, it's Microsoft! Sure I use their OS, but only because it's easy, and I'm lazy, not because it's good.

The GameCube ... well hello Nintendo, how did your last console do? Not so hot? Bye bye. Ok, that's harsh. The Nintendo and the Super Nintendo were pretty awsome, and had killer staying power. But the N64 pretty much sucked, in my opinion.

Dreamcast schmeamcast ... Sega sucks. I have yet to enjoy anything Sega has done. Well there was that game 'Ecco The Dolphin' back on the old Sega and I hear they're making it for Dreamcast ... but I'm not buying a console for ONE GAME ... pay no attention to the fact that all I own is GT3 (: I guess Dead or Alive 2 was pretty cool, but I can get that on PS2 as well.

Sony is where my digital heart belongs.

There’s an Xbox that’s broken and it isn’t in any living room in America yet. The Xbox demo unit at a nearby Toys R Us store could not give consumers a taste of the new Microsoft console because of severe loading problems. The Xbox unit had no disc inside and displayed a menu screen to access the hard drive and CD player. But customers who tried to navigate through menus could do little else but wait while the machine tried to load the next menu. The audio that accompanied the menu screen transition skipped severely as well. After a three minute wait, the Xbox reached the next screen but continued to have load problems. Multiple resets also failed to resolve the problem. Soon after, a screen appeared that said the Xbox needed customer service repair. The screen provided a list of customer service phone numbers to contact.
Several Toys R Us employees did not know what went wrong with the Xbox demo unit that now carried a “Out of Order” sign. The store received their unit on Tuesday. The in-store demo units are believed to be actual finalized hardware that consumers will see at launch.

GA has received several reports on problems with in-store Xbox units.

An Xbox unit in the Germantown, MD Target store is reported to have "freezing" problems that requires employees to open the kiosk every 75 minutes to reset the console.

An Xbox unit in Software Etc. store in Souix Falls, SD was reported to skip, freeze, and have audio problems.

An Xbox unit at a Babbages store in Mobile, AL was reported to have similar problems.

An Xbox unit in the Bowie, MD Target store is confirmed to not function. The loading light flashes and no audio or video is displayed, with or without a disc, according to a store employee.

A Babbages employee at the Dearborn, MI store reports that their Xbox unit does not function.

"Out of five stores that have playable demos within a ten mile area, only two have working units," says the employee.

Microsoft recently delayed the Xbox launch and will ship an unspecified number of units on November 15th. It’s unclear whether load problems were a source for delay. A Microsoft representative was contacted for the story but did not reply at press time.

We’ll have more as it develops, here at GA.

well all i can say about this is.... LOL OMG THATS FUNNY !! HAHA !!

Not to brag, but I have had every (and I mean EVERY) console system released in the U.S. since the Atari 5200 (I did not get the 2600, :D)
I even have the original NeoGeo home console with the $250 per game carts(I have about 4 carts for it: The Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury2, Samurai Showdown and Samurai Showdown2)... I see myself as a future owner of an Xbox and a GameCube as well. As long as the system delivers challenging, competitative gameplay, I will support it. Brand names are for distinguishing puposes only, meaning I feel no loyality towards any particular brand, why would I? Sony doesn't cut me a check. But if Sony brings me great gameplay like the Grand Turismo series, and the Tekken fighting series, then I will continue to support the platform by spending money on controllers, memory chips, additional games, etc.,... If Microsoft comes with it, then I will be there with them. Geez, I remember reading game magazines before the PSX first debuted, people thought Sony would flop horribly... some prayed for it. lol Guess things never change.

I can honestly say that I was the proud owner of a 2600. My parents didn't realize that they were molding my future of game play forever.

 Thanks mom and dad.

Man, PAKO... those were the good old days... you purchase a system, and it comes with 8 games right off the bat... of course, each game was a variation of pong with a different color background... no I am exaggerating.

Gaming is great! I am glad there are so many choices. Think of all the jobs the industry is providing as well. I hope I am still around when the virtual realness reaches the level of say "Snow Crash" a cyber punk novel I read a few years ago. Virtual real estate had real world value, etc... The more people doing r&d, the sooner we will achieve virtual bliss. Oh-oh, time for my medicine again...

 If only they knew, eh?

My folks didn't want me to have video games growing up (and rightly so). I doubt anything could have stopped me, tho. 😈

That pic about the X-box out of order if halarious! I would at least think it would work. Loading times are that bad!? Dang. Most PS2 games load in less than 15 seconds. Has anybody noticed the loading times on GT3? Not one time has my GT3 taken more than 3 seconds to load. It seems like your playing a N64 game it loads so fast!
