need more people to play online....if you can find ppl with 50 or less ping lag is not bad....but i can play with ppl around 100 ping with little lag...but if u know how to drift LAG IS NOT A PROBLEM

I'll just make a short check list for xlink so that you ppl can get goin...This is what I check and have had success...
First and foremost....YOur computer that is running KAI must be HARDLINEd....they don't support wireless connections(i don't know y....)....though your ps2 can b wireless

1.First open KAI click the magnifying glass on the top...

2.Check to see if you are netreachable if no click the globe and wait then it will turn to yes move on....

3. Make sure your netcard is locked...if it isn't locked open up KAI config....you have to close kai inorder to acess the config program....Select your netcard in the pull down field....restart kai....your netcard should be locked.....

4. Go through the above steps and if everything is good click the folder icon....this checks to see if your ps2 configured in kai....if no consoles detected....IN GT4 go to multilan and connect....go to the Waiting for Connection screen and cancel...now your console should be detected and configured....IF config fails go through kai's forums and you should find a solution....

5. If all this is then go find a person to play with....make a room and check your lan settings in GT4. If you are hosting select host = yes and players to the number of players playing. SAVE and REBOOT your ps2. IF you are not hosting make sure your host is NO. OH yeah Traffic should be selected to light.

6. NOW go find someone to play with and open up a room in kai check to make sure you see PING with everyone...if not restart kai ...make sure everything is set up, then you should see everyones ping.

7.the HOST connects LAST... have people connect ONE BY ONE. The first person should go to the waiting for connection screen and inform the room that they are there...then the next person and so on till the host connects...

8. If all goes smoothly you should see track selection....if not....REboot PS2's everyone and try again...sometimes it takes a couple tries.

9. select track and car Promptly...If someone takes too long then the game freezes and you have to reconnect everyone again....well I hope this helps xlink noobs out there...ANd hope to see more TRUE drifters out there. I don't think i left anything out....I have always gone through this and have been able to play with no problems...DON"T try And connect without checkin ne of this stuff it is crucial for the connection....good luck ppl Drift it if you got it....If you dun got it....it will be noticable...btw lag makes drifitn easier....so don't complain bout it

with the release of Forza and XBL, Im suprised that not many people seem to be too interested in Xlink. Drifting with other people is way more fun.

:dunce: I just saw the other post, looks like you got a few people that want to drift together.

you don't need a new ip address because kai gives your ps2 an address.....just hook yer ps2 up to your router....an follow the guide...if you can read...you should be ableto play...y play gt3 when gt4 is out....

In my quest to drift online I finally figured out all the little details in getting my PS2 to be recognized by the Kai engine. I searched ALL OVER the Xlink forums and finally found the links that have helped me figure out how to make it work. There were so many "How To's" floating around the Xlink forums with the same info but nothing showing the not so technically inclined how to do it. These links helped my not so technical self out alot...

Easy Steps to Get GT4 to Work w/ Kai

Making Sure Kai Can Talk to Your PS2

The first link is if the standard setup process doesn't work. Standard meaning you plug everything up and set all the LAN Profile settings to No/Yes/Yes. The 2nd link will instruct you on how to disable DHCP. Doing that you have to manually assign your PS2 an IP address so the router/hub can recognize your PS2 without conflict. To do that refer back to the first link. I have yet to actually try it yet, as there's nobody in the GT4 Americas arena. So I'm gonna give it a swing later with BreakerOhio...

I have trouble keeping pace with BreakerOhio, he's the Xlink OG. I don't think there's anyone drifting on Xlink better than him.

;) haha Xlink OG, Thanks for the compliment DT_C. We gotta get more seat time on Xlink together and get some captured clips.

I should have hit you up tonight rather than wasting my time working with new xlinkers and getting no where and no playing time.

Its alot of effort trying to help someone that hasn't read the banner and followed the instuctions in the arena.

DT_C tonights session was pretty good. Its fun following your drift line, especially when you start drifting on the straights and doing the manjiis back and forth. The one with your FD vs my Supra on Apricot Hill was hot, looked like a team drift show coming down the straights. We gotta get some of this recorded. :)
