X mas eve cars?

Given that Christianity is a minority religion in Japan (approx 1%) why are they giving a Christmas gift (Xmas is actually supposed to be about celebrating Christ's Mass hence Jesus' birthday 25th Dec,not overeating,arguing with relatives,spending too much etc) exclusively to Japan's GT users?!?!

Anyone else find this massively weird?

To be 100% correct your explanation of the reason for the season is incorrect.This time of year was originally a pagan holiday to celebrate the winter solstice.I know it's been adopted by many that your explanation for the season is the correct one but that's not what it was originally.
 
I have a theory, and i use the term loosely. Suppose that after the whole servers going down due to everyone trading their cars, girlfriends, dogs and whatever because of the old trading exploit made PD/Sony pause for thought and realise that logisticaly they weren't ready for that amount of traffic. I reckon that the downloads will be availible to everyone; just at different times to ease traffic on their servers and not cause a bottleneck. im probably wrong though :)

I'm not arguing about weather or not we should receive cars i was adressing your statement that ''Xmas is actually supposed to be about celebrating Christ's Mass hence Jesus' birthday'' which is not what it was originally was.

Okay,let's see if we can put this baby to bed.....I'm not disputing that paganism has been around longer than Christianity and they had a celebration at roughly the same time as what the entire globe recognises as a Christian celebration. If you're a Pagan,good for you mate.....but the fact remains that Christmas(or Christ's Mass) is a Christian celebration, I don't imagine for one second that the timing of these 'Gifts' is about Pagan celebrations,do you?

One more time,Winter Solstice=Winter Solstice and Christmas=Christmas

No the cars don't have anything to do with Paganisim.I'm not a Pagan either.Regardless what kind of celebration it is now that's not what this time of year was originally for.It's was originally a pagan celebration which someone stole and made it their own.You said the season was about celebrating the birth of jesus and i was simply saying that''s not it was originally about.

Lol, the celebration of Christmas has nothing to do with your wizard speak.

And no-one is disputing when Paganism is celebrated or whatever. Just because Christmas is celebrated in the same time frame doesn't make it originally a Pagan celebration, it just means they are celebrated on or near the same day.

So far, it seems the US got screwed on initial content such as no Special Collectors Edition, and some DLC, but i guess they figured we get GT Academy it would make up for it. too bad it doesnt, i guess they forgot about -18 year olds such as my self.

What eu countries did you use? and where are they located are they in the psn store or in the gt5 game? I made a greece account but I cant find them, but at least at the same time I got to do the bday glitch

I only got 7 paint chips, and 7 museum bits. No cars or anything just 7 of each, midnight in the UK.

You need a PAL disc to get the car in the first place to be able to trade it. I can probably count on my two hands the number of people that went out of their way in North America to get their hands on a PAL disc.

That is, unless you have a method of doing this without the PAL disc, in which case you need to tell everyone, because you would be the first to pull it off.
 
Just for the record, five of these chrome line cars were gifted as a part of the collectors edition, and if you bought from certain retailers (Best Buy for me) you got an extra car, I got a GT-R 500 Stealth (awesome car). So North America is really not getting shafted. If you spent the extra money, they gave you something extra for it, very simple.

The link gets it mostly right but Christmas was never originally a pagan holiday. Maybe you could say that about December 25th--the date itself.

Christmas is not about trees nor the date it is celebrated on. It the feast of the Nativity of Christ. The fact that the feast day was strategically placed to diminish a pagan celebration is really an ancillary (but interesting) fact for the people who celebrate the birth of Christ.

I did. North America never got the CL XJ-13 or the R10/787B Stealth. Those are the only DLC cars I'm missing because they're flat out unobtainable in North America.
 
OMG are you people stupid? It's for the Japan PSN only! It's been mentioned, and announced loads of times! It's only 3 cars! Jesus!

You're missing out, got all the Stealth cars, plus the Chromeline XJ13. The 787B and R10, both in Stealth, look and perform amazingly.

This made me laugh.

Why would shepherds tending to sheep be a reason Jesus was not born in December? It's not like they stop because it is cold out. The sheep keep living all year round. Also, winter in most parts of the middle east is still hot...Except for like the mountains in Afghanistan. These explanations have no significance.

Christmas, as in Christ(mas), has nothing to do with Paganism. They are two different things. The only thing you have been able to argue legitimately is that Winter Solstice is celebrated on or around Christmas, and I don't even know if that is correct. relative time frame of celebration doesn't mean they are the same thing.

I dunno about you, but as a Christian I am not celebrating Paganism on December 25th.
