*X2010 Championship interest*

I haven't seen a lot of these around, and while I know that the X2010 is not the most popular car in this game by a long shot, many people have at least one (through the broken trading system of pre 1.07) and I'm sure the races would be pretty fun to do with the insane speeds of them.

Everyone can enter, obviously as long as they have an X2010, but it is recommended that you use a regular DS3 controller. You can use any wheel, but if you do you must keep it fair to controller users. I'm doing this to keep it fair on the majority of people who don't have a wheel and therefore don't get the superhuman reflexes to lap the Green Hell in just over 3 minutes.

You can use any of the X2010 colours, but preferably one that isn't being use already. You can use the Prototype and S.Vettel ones, but these will be strictly limited to one driver and one driver only for each of them.

I have decided the tracks, and they are going to be all of the tracks with changeable weather and time, including the custom tracks themes (excluding the snow and dirt tracks of course since X2010's cant go on them obviously). The custom tracks will be done with the online generator and the stats with them will be random. Also there will be votes as to what track will be used in two cases.

The race times are unconfirmed as of yet, but I know it will not be on Wednesdays or Thursdays. On any day other than that, the time would be I reckon from 4pm-8pm (in GMT, use Google to find out what time the race would start in your time zone!).

Races would be held either in my lounge or in a public lounge. I would think public would be more useful for people who have no friend space any more, but it would also complicate trying to get into the lobby and you'd have to add in the possibility of other people who aren't involved trying to get in. With that in mind, I would prefer private and not worry about random people getting in, but it would limit the number of people who would want to join slightly. It's really all up to you.

So I have 3 decisions I want you to make. Firstly, what would be the best say for you to hold it on? Secondly, what time would be best for you (this will take into account other days possibly)? And thirdly, public or private lounges?

What tracks?

I was thinking of High Speed Ring, Eiger Nordwand Short Track, Monza, La Sarthe 2009, either the Nordschleife or Nurb 24H circuit (I'll leave that down to you when the time comes), Suzuka, SSR7, and random generator created tracks on the Toscana, Eifel, and either the Eifel Kart or Tokyo Bay kart theme (again, that'll be up to you if the time comes). Notice how all the tracks I'm using have some sort of changeable variable, whether it be weather, time, or both. The races would be the same length as an average F1 race, but because you're using an X2010 the races will be over considerably faster.

Doesn't the car have Airbags?

And also, by 4am GMT -5, I'm assuming you mean 9am here or 4am CST (since I believe it's daylight savings there)?

I'll do a sign up if enough people decide to post claiming their interest. Madrid doesn't have a changeable variable, but even then it is very tight for such fast racing. Would be a possibility if another series comes around though

first time in my life that I will miss winter. Winter= sitting inside playing GT5!!! Sumer = Sitting inside playing GT5 5 days a week instead of 7. hahahahha

As far as track reccomendations go, I think wide tracks would lend to better racing as tight tracks make for crowds, especially on a track like the 'ring or laguna seca. In short, it would make passing VERY Difficult

Right then...you are one of the faster ones, but that doesn't exactly mean you need to go 10 out of 10 throughout the whole series. But you're not unfair to all DS3 users - some do have skills that most of the somewhat good wheel users who can roughly gold the Vettel Challenge have. Go full throttle if you absolutely need to, and make it maybe less fun on yourselves without any competitors, or at least make the tiniest of efforts to try and keep yourselves from completely overpowering everyone else.

In short, the X2010 is easy to drive but hard to master, and you have succeeded in the latter which may just give you a decent edge over anyone else. Sort of like me, really. Not trying to offend your skill or anything, just would prefer close and exciting racing all around, not just in the midfield and the back. Just hope you understand my concern.

I dont agree that DS3 users have an argument. Its not out of the question to tell a someone to buy a wheel for a driving/racing game. If you have the money for a PS3 you can afford a $129.99 wheel or however much they are.

Again, since these cars are all the same its like adding a 10 pound weight to a marathon runner, or swimmer. Its just illegitimate & bitter. Since I already race this car every night against fast people and have for 2 months its just not worth it to race this unless there's some decent drivers.

Oh and 50 Kg wouldnt be enough. 200 kg might not be enough to allow a VERY GOOD controller user to keep up. 60% power and 200 KG of ballast would slow me down enough for DS3 users.

I am saying Adding weight to top three each race for next race. Up to 200kg could be tacked on if same guys keep finishing up front. If we cant keep up with the leaders carrying extra weight. Then obviously we will need practice.

I personally dont care. However I am not beastly fast with these. So I will indeed have to go full out.

Wheel user using custom steel cockpit so no excuses other then I need to build my new cockpit for the T500 I have sitting. Love to see how no oscillation works.

This attitude is the reason why driving sims are so rare and or virtually non-existent on councils. People want to sit back on the couch with a controller. Thats not going to happen with real world physics.

Pitiful is people that are too lazy to play a game properly, and need handicaps for those that are playing it the way it was meant to be played. There's a reason that mule racing is so popular in GT5, because people cant handle the fast cars with their DS3s. and nobody is ever encouraged to get a wheel....

Sounds like a decent idea, but 50 kg seems a bit much for first. At least, if you consider the average player...

Well someone obviously hasn't heard of the casual gamer. Many people, even if they bought a wheel straight away, would not have the skill to match people like you. Sort of like me really, I am absolute rubbish with any kind of steering wheel, and trying one with an X2010 would just be nigh on impossible for me. And you really don't need to overly boast about how good you are with a wheel, and technically speaking, wheels are just SPECIALIZED ways of playing a racing game. Not as many people online use them as you might think, never mind if they are properly skilled with them like you are. And if you don't want to race in the series...then don't! Simple as that! You don't even need to post here if you feel like this series has been terribly organised like me. Again, I say this is a series I am trying to make good for everyone, and again, you don't NEED to use a DS3...just live with the casual players, man.

Also, as a DS3 user, I don't really have anything against wheel users who will be faster than me in a majority of situations. I just live with it...and you should live with the DS3 users who play their game in the usual way but are slower than you as a result.

Why would you end a comment like that with I'm sorry. I can understand when people do that in conversation, but you can see it before you post it. If you are "sorry" why would you post it.

Its funny that you talk about physics of gt5 and how realistic it is, and then you talk about how much you race one of the few not real cars in the game. You do know the X2010 doesn't exist, right?

I personally do not use this car because it is like somebody brought Need for Speed to GT5. I don't want to bash the series, because it could be a lot of fun. Anything is fun with the right group, even Need for Speed.

I also think it is funny, your comments about how you are one of the fastest in the world. I don't remember meeting anyone in this game, who truly is one of the fastest in the world, ever making a comment like that. Yes, I have met and raced with quite a few of them. They are all very humble and helpful.

I originally saw this weeks ago when it was posted and steered clear of it because of the reference towards those being "too fast". I dont think I have super human reflexes, lol..... didnt want to say what I thought of it, because of the old "if you dont have anything nice to say dont say it". I am sorry that a decided to comment, because obviously it was poorly received.

However, I am one of the fastest X2010 players in the world that routinely races this car online. I'm not claiming to be fast in any of the other cars besides the F1s and X2010 although I do okay and some of the other classes. We race Leybob's evening races frequently, there used to be 10 or 15 of us a while back.

I am being helpful to people, I'm saying GET A WHEEL and practice. There;s nothing else that will help you with the X2010. If somebody tells you any more than brake in the corner and slide it a little bit, their making stuff up.

The wheel does increase realism, how wouldnt it? There's over 1,000 cars in this game besides the fictional X2010. And that car obeys the laws of physics all the same. And is this game perfectly realistic, no. i racing is nearly perfectly realistic. This game isnt, but its certainly better than the other Playstation games.

I dont have the subtle or facetious nature of someone well liked & worshiped, I am too blunt in the way I tell my opinion which turns people off in general. But I'm not such a bad guy really.

Not to be a hater, but
People can easily get round this. how do you make sure people Actually add balast? I mean, you can just enter with ballast, then take it off moments before the race
Also, adding universal ballast puts everyone at a disadvantage, eliminating the purpose of individual restrictions

I'll put them up in the sign up thread that will eventually come. Although they may not be as strict as other championships simply because the X2010 is so fast and responsive that some situations like those are just too hard to avoid.

I've already said that Wednesday is out of bounds for the most part. And by your location, Wednesday nights means about 2-3 am in my time zone. Friday nights at 6-7pm GMT doesn't sound too bad for me, nor do those times on Saturdays or Sundays.

I do have to agree here, you really do need some sort of ground rules when it comes to racing X2010s. Penalties do eliminate draft pass dive-bombs (Has to be the most common form of passing in X2010 races) which is extremely dangerous to the leading car. However the draft effect means cars are going to be ghosting into each other. So when they come out of a ghost someone's gonna get forced into a position that can potentially take them out. If you do plan to make a series out of this you have to be extremely careful of the rules.
