Do you think that the X2010 has ruined the sense of speed in this game, here's why I think it has,

Polyphony must have made the X2010 go as fast as the PS3 can push out frames without taking to big a hit on performance (Screen tear /low frame rates), the top car in other words, and worked backwards, meaning that when you get down to something pretty quick irl like a Subura Imprezza for example it looks and feels slow.

If the F1 car had been set as the top car everything below would have a better sense of speed, plus the F1 car is something we can relate to irl.

Whaddyathink?

I have to agree that what would be a fast car IRL, feels slow in-game, and yeah it's only made worse by the F1 and x2010 >_< Driving the FGT for x hours, then going back to a normal car, can be very boring and annoying in more ways than one.

Driving the X1, and to a lesser extent the F1 cars, ruins my timing for everything else. I have spent maybe 30 minutes in the X1 since I got it back in January. And I don't know if I'll ever drive it again.

I was driving the Vertigo last night and it gives me a huge sensation of speed. Because it's got such wicked acceleration but you have to corner at "normal" speeds, you really feel the speed. With the X1 it's like driving in fast forward. You corner at ridiculous speeds which actually takes away the sensation of speed when you're going straight.

It's certainly a different experience driving cars without F1 or greater performance. Even driving the LMP, or GT cars can take some of the excitement out of racing sports cars. Sometimes it just takes a little break, or a seasonal with some harsh restrictions to make me enjoy screaming (read "plodding") around corners on sports or comfort tires.

I agree with this 100%. I try and avoid driving the X1 just for this reason.

I personally don't like the X1 at all, it's very unrealistic and people abuse the thing. I also think that the sense of speed is messed up in general with the game, "slow" cars as some people would refer to in this game are a lot quicker than some might think IRL.

I personelly like the X2010 but do believe there is a time and place to use and thats on your own. It should'nt be even allowed online as it causes so many crashes by folk who cannot handle it.

If most people saw a Civic with 500HP in a lobby online they'd more than likely look at it, laugh and think it's slow but what i'm trying to get at is more people should appreciate cars like this and this video also represents the "sense of speed" missing from GT5 IMO.

Edit: Oh and did I forget to mention that it sounds absolutely amazing!

I agree too, after working my way through the Vettel Challenge (bronze will be plenty, thank you very much), I did a seasonal and taught I'd broken my controller, damn car did not move. Only then did I realise how the X2010 messes you up.

It does for a while. However, the best solution I have to fixing the sense of speed issue is to drift around the Top Gear test track for a few minutes. It fixes everything right up.

I have experienced this too. Sometimes I go into my lounge and mess around with the F10 and then when I go to the Ferrari Sarthe seasonal, I almost fall asleep. I have not driven the x2010 that I got from the Vettel or the one that I traded for before the cap. Unrealistic driving and not fun in my opinion. Having said that though, it would be very entertaining to watch a x2010 race by people who knew how to handle that car.

Agreed.

It took me 3 days to get all golds in the Vettel challenge.
Been driving that horrible arcade car for hours.

It totally sucked all the fun out of GT5, I didn't play for about 2 weeks after that.

In my opinion, the FGT cars were always the cars that didnt really fit into the GT series. There is normal cars, racing cars, Group C cars and then ultimately the FGT's... I never liked the FGT's...
But in GT5 they invented the ultimate rediculous arcade challenge.
It has no place in GT5, it's a total waste of time and effort.

If I wanted to drive 'cars' like the X1 I'd be playing 'simulators' like Wipeout or Ridge Racer :yuck:

No...but...it takes some getting used to. Just can't pick it up and start driving it well. Then you've gotta keep driving it regularly to stay good at it. What it does do is make going back to a "slower" car an adjustment. Once your eye and reflexes catch up to the speed of the X1, it's an adjustment to tone it down to a regular car.

I actually agree with you. All other cars gets slow and boring after using the X1. If they could make it in real life then it would be cool. But as they cant it think it should be removed from the game.

I've never driven the thing on this exact basis. It would completely remove the sense of speed that the other cars portray. I gave it to my Bob and he made LMP cars look like they were travelling at go-kart speeds racing an established race car.
I haven't even attempted the challenges yet, I doubt I could do them to be honest. I'm with happy with completing licence tests and driving cars that are not science fiction.

I agree vs. the way it messes with your head when you come back down to earth in a 'normal' car, but I don't think it has anything to do with frame rates. I think maybe the cars parameters push the physics database, after all, it's possible to make the car up to 999 pp.

If they wanted, PD could put a vehicle in the game that completely ignored real world physics, or even inverted them, after all it's only a sim.

I thought the car was fun, if not funny, especially for b spec races. Would have been even funnier if you could transpose its parameters into another car, say a Fiat 500!

The challenges are amongst the few things I have left to do in the game and go back to them from time to time, but I've only golded Monza and that was with some chicane cutting.

Don't agree with this - why remove it just because you don't like it? Horses for courses, and all that.

I agree, winning the 24 hour races would be prestigious, but everyone can win with the x1 and leave their ps3 on for x amount of days. So yes, I think it has ruined the sence of speed

It didn't just ruin the sense of speed, it also ruined what this game is supposed to be. A simulator. This car cannot be made in real life (at this present moment in time).

Yes, it could.

Red Bull say they don’t know how much it would cost to build the car but it theoretically could be done. The design obeys all physical laws.

The X1/X2010 is what could be achieved if there were no rules.

This. Sums up my views on the car perfectly. I avoid driving it as much as possible. I got Gold and two Silver on the challenge, then gave up.

Are you able to drive this car without a wheel? Its so ridiculously, unrealistically fast that I havnt even bothered to try with the DS3.

Yes. I've only got a DS3 and In the Vettel Challenge I've:

Golded Monza
Bronzed Nürburgring GP/F Bronzed Suzuka

The X2010 is freakiahly fast hitting 460kms/h. I grinded one of the aspec dream championship races with this car so many times that after going back to normal cars thy all felt a tad slow.

The X1 definitely throws me off for the first 5-10 minutes of getting back into a "normal" car. That being said, I think having the X1 in the game is a real thrill. I golded all 3 Vettel events and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. It is a different animal, real or fictional physics aside. I don't drive it very often, but occasionally it is a blast to get in and tear around with. I prefer street cars in the 400-550pp range, but am glad I have the option of cars like the X1 and F1s.

Nope, it didn't ruin sense of speed, at least for me.
Because the car is possible to be made but partly impossible to drive, that's why PD create this.
The X2010 is made for pushing the boundries of racing cars. No rules, pushing the limits.

I can get back up driving normal car like always. I'm using DS3 btw.
Well, it's simple to sum up.
Don't like it. Don't drive it. Ever. Seriously.

If the car can be made in real life, the tires will need to be pretty good because it will be hard for them to last. What kind of tires would the X1 have if it was made in real life?
