is it me or is the carbon version quicker, i know the specs are identical but if i run them on the indy course the carbon laps faster and hits higher top speeds ??????

I would think that the carbon version would be slightly faster due to being lighter than the vettel but would also think that the vettel would be made of carbon also. I also remember reading somewhere that apparently the carbon version has shorter/longer transmission. But apart from that your vettel x1 may have higher downforce than the carbon x1 therefore reducing overall top speed at high speed. But i cant confirm this as i dont own the carbon version yet as im still 1.31 seconds from gold at suzuka.

I have the Carbon and after taking the downforce off to test the top speed I topped out at 304 but I swear I saw some Vettel X2010's going way over 300 mph.

Had my Vettel bounce off the rev limiter at bang on 500kph (311mph) many times. Hardest part is looking at the speedo when going that fast.
The thing I dont get tho, is in the transmission settings, it says top speed is 505kph...
Is worse on other cars, up to 30kph difference in actual rev-limit speed vs transmission setting top speed.

You probably know about this, but just to make sure.. have you guys checked what BHP the X1's have. After engine break-in, the HP's should peak at around 1556. So if you're comparing a fresh X1 with one that has miles on it, they would have different HP and speed. Or one that has a lot of miles on it and has begun to slow back down.

Other than that, I read somewhere that the Vettel X1 is supposedly the fastest one compared to Carbon or the colored ones..

edit. this is where I read it:

Aside from the cosmetic differences and a slight variation in top speed, all three livery models have identical specifications. They all have the same weight (545 kg), horsepower and RPM (15,000). The HP and torque does fluctuate depending on miles and damage done to vehicle.

The S.Vettel has the fastest top speed, which is 315mph as opposed to the other two models, which have a top speed of 311mph.

Probably due to some fancy flexible wing on the car

The gearbox is differently set up on Vettel's. It has a very wide 1st gear, thus, making the remaining 5 gears shorter, helping it accelerate better in higher gears and reach higer speeds compared to Color and Carbon X1.

At least, that's the conclusion I came after driving both of them several kilometers.

Thanks guys i had the vettal frfom the trade section and after reading your comments was at first very confused as the carbon was definately faster, now ive reset al the values in the setting to default and found there was a lot of downforce applied ad now its fine.
Thanks again.

the carbon also seems more stable to me. during the challenege on nurburg i had to power slide the first corner, the carbon is much smoother (Y)

The S. Vettel is the faster one. If anyone disagrees with me you are ****ing stupid and shouldnt have even posted. The Carbon and Painted ones have a bit more sensitive steering.

I disagree.

You can't touch Vettels final speed. If you tweak a carbon or a color X1 for a better acceleration in shorter circuits along with loading more the wing, a Vettel's should have nothing to do.

That's a fact that you can't argue against.

What are you saying? Both of them pushing 1556 HP, both with brand new oil and no downforce, The carbon tranny set at max (500km/hr) and the S. Vettel tranny not being adjustable stuck at 507 km/hr. The Carbon cannot go over 500 even while drafting and the Vettel hits 507 before it hits the rev limiter.

Therefore, the Vettel is faster.

The carbon one DOES handle better and due to the shorter first gears could possibly get a better lap time but the Vettel is undeniably faster by 7 km/hr. Both hit the same speed without draft, around 490 ish.

and btw i can barely drive the carbon one around tight tracks anyways because the steering is so insane, i always race with the vettel.

I was talking about shorten the gearbox to get better acceleration thus better laptimes.

My post had nothing to do with just top speed, very few circuits have enough space to reach top speed in any Red Bull flavor. So it's kinda useless to say Vettel's faster just because it reaches 10kmh more.

About the Carbon, maybe you touched the suspension settings that made the Carbon undriveable. A colored drives the same as Vettel's.

I believe that this is because the transmission "top speed" does not take the effects of downforce into account.

Well now that you can adjust the ratio of each gear of the tranny and not just the top speed, I can say that S.Vettel is not faster than any of the other Redbul line up.
