Xbox 360 doomed?

If the Gears Triology moved to the PS3, do you think that would doom the 360?

The fact that Ace Combat 6 was only on 360 nearly caused the demise of the Ace Combat franchise, due to it not selling anywhere near the numbers of the older PS2 titles...
This is why Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is multi-platform. (Yes, I am a big Ace Combat fan)

Anyway I don't see the 360 dying anytime soon, given Halo 4, Forza 4, Gears of War 3, and other titles that are on the horizon. Personally, I am really just looking forward to Forza 4, Gears of War 3, and Mass Effect 3 (multi-platform). Those games will make me turn on my 360 a bit more often lol...

I think there is no console like PS2, damn is miss her.
Forza and Ace Combat was why i bought an Xbox, is Horizon out???

Fact is, the 360 is the console of choice for people who just want to play Call of Duty. It runs better on a 360, the DLC is released earlier on 360, the 360 is cheaper than PS3 and the player base on 360 is, almost certainly, much, much larger than it is on PS3, or at least that's the general consensus, true or otherwise. Given that Call of Duty is the biggest selling entertainment franchise ever, it's not a huge stretch of the imagination to believe that there are a lot of 360's out there only being used for Call of Duty by people who just don't care about gaming, but have heard that it's this thing they HAVE to get in on, same as watching football or owning a certain type of car. I know plenty of people like that.

So, the 360 doesn't need exclusives to survive. Or, rather, if Call of Duty was the only exclusive Microsoft had, they would be set for life. Even if MW3 somehow runs 10x better on a PS3 than a 360, they'd still be fine.

1. I agree, the PS2 was incredible.
2. I fixed a RROD 360 for Forza, I didn't even think to get Ace Combat... Off to Amazon I go!
3. It's not out yet, no, but it looks intense. There's a trailer you can download on the PSN store, it's hard to follow the action so I hope the game will be a bit slower than that, but it looks good.

The 360 is doomed regardless. I don't see it having more than one to two more years in it's lifecycle tbh, although it'll invariably do well during those last years. The franchise should be fine though, assuming the next Xbox doesn't have the same spectacular failure rate as the 360 did and they don't fall into gimmick heavy crapware (looking at you Kinect) over proper games

As for CoD, I wouldn't bet on that surviving as a cash cow through the lifecycle of the 720, or whatever it's called. Eventually people will get tired of the rehashed gameplay, declining quality, and Kotick cash grabs.

Well, you're probably right that it won't survive that long, but I think it'll survive at least as far as the next Xbox, and I also honestly think that if things go on the way they have, it could carry the 360 to the end of this generation and would even keep people playing the 360 for long into the next generation, just as Halo did for the original Xbox or GT4 is doing for the PS2 amongst people here.

In my opinion, the 360 isn't doomed, it's consoles we have to worry about. OnLive is a little bit before it's time, I think, but I think the 720 and PS4 will be the last generation of console. After that, we'll have a generic gaming machine like the OnLive plugged into our TVs. Think about it; Devs only have one version to worry about, distribution is almost free, everyone can play together... Sony and Microsoft would be wise to invest in cloud gaming because developers will definitely lose interest as cloud gaming gains prominence or feasibility, which will happen some day, even if it's not specifically OnLive.

Kinect might be crapware to 'core' gamer's sensibilities, but 360 was the top selling console in the US for 10 of the last 11 months and Kinect is the fastest selling peripheral ever.
