YELLOW BIRD RING CHALLENGE (for fun)

I managed to do a 7:57 with all assists off, even ABS. I used a DFGT.
I reduced the break balance at the rear a bit to make sure the rear-breaks didn't locked up when breaking. Still, you have to be very careful to not lockup the breaks under heavy breaking.

Bone stock. Didn't even change the oil in my Yellowbird after I got it.

8:15.370

That was hard! That was the first time I drove my Yellowbird. I'm gonna put it back in the garage and hope that I'll never have to drive that thing again!

7:39.330 Sports Hard tyres, car completely stock, no ABS, grip set to real, clutch + h-shifter.

Wasn't an exactly perfect lap. I pulled a massive drift near the end but managed to keep it on the road. I wish I had a camera so I could include the wheel and shifter movements into a video of this replay, but I doubt many people would be interested in watching it anyway.

I've been thinking of posting the same challenge here because I love driving this car around this track with these tyres. The only thing that comes close to being as much fun as this is doing the same in the stratos rally car with sports medium tyres.

"It's a disease I shall call ringworm and I have it... very very badly."

Yesterday I tried to get under 7:39 with no aids for hours but just can't do it. A couple times I think I've had a good run but then near the end I've made a mistake (which is easy to do in whatever corner, even the very last one) and still ended up at 7:39. Getting quite frustrating but still I think this car+tyre+track combo is the best in all of gt5.

A bonus challenge!! Do the same in the wet :D

I wanted to beat my previous time of 7:39.330 but accidentally chose the change time change weather version of Nordschleife and decided to give it a go. I tried it a couple times and got hooked.

10:20.579 was my best time. I think there's more seconds to be gained (I missed gearshifts and made other mistakes) so I wish people would try this and post their best times.

Same settings as before; Sports Hard tyres, no abs, grip set to real and clutch+h-shifter.

ps. In this video the game does look absolutely fantastic at times. Also I think the Yellowbird is the most beautiful standard car in the game.

today i tried again to beat my 7:38:451 (stock, all off, abs=1, realistic + h-shift sports hard) for about 3 laps but could not reach it (one time was half a second slower),

OK8 your video is really cool (offtopic: How did u record it? Tv card? Which program did u use for the pciture in picture ? where are u from ? i am looking for other gt5-RUF-lovers in Germany)

I guess i will give the rainy green hell a shot tomorrow.
10:20 sounds fast for this car in rain.

After my exams, I am compelled to make a GT5 "Fazination" tribute.

I will literally attempt to somehow merge the original video into a GT5 equivalent and because I am extremely lucky to own a HD -PVR the quality should be up to scratch.

Now I need to learn how to drift like a certain Stefan Roser at 120 mph at Schwendenkreuz :sly:

yellowbird: I recorded it with the very same Hauppauge HD-PVR DeolTheBeast has, though I should encode it differently to get the full quality to youtube. I used Sony Vegas to edit it (picture in picture). I'm from Finland so not far away from Germany, don't know much german though (only profanity :D).

Since you enjoy the same settings and our times are similar it would be great to race these cars some day when psn is back up and we both have time.

Ok8: Yeah that is what i want :) i will add you in PSN, soon, but the next 2-4 weeks i will probably not be able to play gt5 at all, have 2 stressy weeks and then i am for two weeks in italy. i will miss gt5^^
Then we can race or drift some laps with the yellowbird or the btr. i need to get the stratos rallye car, saw your other video :)
will try out yellowbird on nürb in the rain in a few weeks :) time will be posted.
cheers

VIDEO: I wanted to dig this thread out, just made a video of one of my laps, so far i guess this is the fastest one in this forum with the stock car and stock tyres.

stock yellowbird with Sport Soft Tyres, All Aids off, ABS=1, G27, H-shifting.

sorry for the quality.

I want to make another/better video where you also can see the wheel/shifter, so stay tuned :)

Driving using a DS3, with no driving aids on. Only adjustment made was to the brake bias :)

On my first lap out, I almost got a 7:42.xxx although I had to lose it at the end of the straight :ouch:

Second lap out, managed to drive it without crashing, did a 7:39.711.

And finally, after learning how to minimize the drifts, it culminated in a 7:33.982 :D

I have the replay, but don't have a capture card. Anyone who wants to see it can add me as a friend on PSN :)

i guess with an adjustment to the brakes i could go faster and beat your 33 but i want to keep the car completely stock with no adjustments.
though it is very impressive if it's true that your really first round with this car was a 7.42.xxx
i guess Thaddaeus did not believe you that, too :)
