my video card can go up to 1600x1200, but my eyes can't.

1024*768 - 16 bits
i can't really the difference between the bits unless i use PSC7, then i need to switch to 32 bits

Although i want the resolution to be higher. (can't be done with my current video card)

I have 800x600x8 or 16, don't know which, on my P1 200mhz computer. 1024x768x32 on my P4 1.7ghz. 96DPI, 60hertz(although I could up it, I have no real need to for what I do. Sure, I play video games, but my framerate is never really above 40 on the maps I like for America's Army, and if I have it higher, all it does is tax my system. If I want to watch DVD's, that's what I have a TV and a separate DVD player for), and those settings are for my P4

You should see a 17" set to 640 X 480.
That's what my mate's olds use. Bloody Godawful resolution, the icons are like 2inX2in *Shakes head*

Computers at my old school back in the '90s used to use a 300x200 resolution (or something like that, i can't remember exactly) and the icons were like 5inX5in square.

My sister whinges and moans when I put it up so I'm stuck with 800x600, although I sometimes use 1024x768 and change it back and forth, my mum doesnt seem to mind. I want my own computer.

I used to have to do that when I was 16. My Dad needs glasses and my mum has been wearing them since like 15, so i need to put the resolution back to 800x600 whenn I was done.

21" monitor. It's a Dell-badged Sony Trinitron, and it's the canine's cojones.

My Dad's 20" Sony Trinitron goes up that high, I think. All I know is that when you crank it up there, the icons are about 1 cmx1cm when on the desktop. Or are they smaller? Dunno, havn't been on his computer to mess around on it lately.

It's just a really high quality screen. It's got a 0.24" dot pitch, which is a significant improvement on the 0.27"/0.28" that most normal monitors can manage. It also works at 85Hz, so it's rock solid, and it's completely flat. It's pretty much the best monitor I've ever seen, and certainly (and by far) the best monitor I've used.

I'll take a digital camera picture and post it...
