I've always liked the idea of some absurdly RR vehicle (like the A310 or CTR Yellow Bird) on a flying lap at SSR5. Not that amazingly hard with practice, but a whole lot of pride when you do it right.

I don't think there's a thread on this ...

- Epsilon Euskadi EEZ @ Le Mans
Sounds like a fairly generic licence test, but here's the catch: you're not doing one lap, you're doing five. And rather than doing one solid flying lap, the idea is to get within a certain percentage of a lap time for each lap. It's designed to teach you endurance racing, where the objective is to stay within the bounds of a pre-determined lap time for several laps. I don't know what kind of lap time the car would do, but say for argument's sake that it's 3m 38sec (I think that's what it was for the Speed 8 @ Le Mans test in GT4). To get the gold, you would have to do five laps within 2% of that lap time, so they'd have to be anywhere within the range of 3m 34sec to 3m 42sec. To get the silver, you'd have to do three laps within 2%, and for the bronze you'd have to do at least one lap within that range. Of course, there'd be an upper limit to these percentages as well; any more than 5% - about ten seconds, so if you do a lap time less than 3m 28sec (which would no doubt be impressive, but not within the objective of the test) or more than 3m 48sec - you'd get failed.

Nice idea Race

I Filled out a Description for the S3

"Sebring is a Track in Florida that has the Learning curve of trying to watch a Horror film.
The car your given is a Audi R10, Essiantly the Michael Myers of diesel cars along with the Peugeot 908.

To Get the jackpot of gold you need to Beat the time set by Tom Kirstensen in 2004."

Silver would be about 1.5 seconds slower and the 3 seconds after that. any slower slower and its preety much failed

If damage is to be included, how about a test where the objective is to pretty much nurse a car back home? Sure, this kind of thing would come up in other licences, but the S-Class test could give you one full lap. Say for example that PD introduce the Ultimate Car Damage Modelling, whereby your car's performance suffers from physical damage. Here's the idea: you're driving an F1 car from 1986 - such as the Williams FW11 - at Jacarepaguá or Interlagos (1986 layout) in Brazil. It's the final lap of the race and you're leading by several seconds, but an altercation with another car has damaged yours, and second place is catching up. You're down on power because of the accident, your tyres aren't in stellar condition and cannot pit as you will lose the lead, so you've decided to nurse the car home. It plays out a bit like a driving mission, but in order to pass the test, you must come home in first place without damaging the car too much. Like my Epsilon Euskadi @ La Sarthe idea, this one also works on a percentage. Your car starts at a pre-determined level of damage such as 70%; enough to slow you down, but not so much as to make it undriveable. To get the gold, you cannot have more than 75% damage. If you get more than 75% damage, you'll get the silver provided you stay above 80%, and the cut-off for the bronze is somewhere in the ballpark of 85-90%, after which time your car would be so damaged you're all but coasting and you'll be passed with no hope of ever catching up, or the car will automatically pit to prevent you from retiring, resulting in a failure. As if that's not enough, you're also in a full field of cars, and will have to carefully pick your way through the backmarkers without damaging the car, running off the track or losing your position. Of course, the entire thing would be dependent upon the Artificial Idiocy; one dim-witted AI move and your chances of a gold could be killed in one fell swoop.

Where are the Original Circuits guys? Where is the respect for genius of Masaaki Goto, Kazumichi Ohtsubo, Sanae Ebihara, Michiko Kitagawa, Hiroshi Samatsu, Shinobu Sawamura and Takako Hirato?

Where are the Special Stage Route 11 (underpass), Grundenwald, Rome Night, Deep Forest, Grand Valley and Complex String - just to mention few favorites form S licenses in GT history?

Licensed tracks are nice, but Original Circuits should have all respect that world can imagine in universe of GT series.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be there, merely picking circuits to match the cars. The Epsilon Euskadi was built for Le Mans, so it makes sense to use it on the La Sarthe circuit. The Williams FW11 was an F1 car from the 1980s, so I suggested a 1980s F1 circuit for the test.

- DTM @ Nurburgring-Nordschliefe
A Nurburgring test is bound to be included - it was in GT4 - and in a DTM car it's nothing new. But if GT5 ha a weather model, this suddenly gets interesting (well, more interesting than it was to begin with). Test drivers often report that sections of the Green Hell are still damp our outright wet, even when most of the circuit is dry or getting that way. So in this test, parts of the circuit - mostly those under trees - are still wet, but you're armed with dry tyres as most of the track is dry.

NASCAR S Licence (These would be dependent on GT6 having all NASCAR tracks and cars as well as great AI)

*S1: Pack Racing (In a pack of 30 cars, you have to successfully navigate your way from 30th to first in 15 laps around Talladega. Success will depend on your patience, eye for draft and knowledge of the cars handling capabilities) G: 1st, S: 5th, B: 10th
*S2: Two Car Tandem Racing (You are the 8th car in a double file restart during a green white checkered finish. You have the last two laps to push you and your partner to the top 2. Then you must master the art of last lap passing if you would like the gold, pulling a Brad Keselowski (flipping the leader into the grandstands) will result in your disqualification. Success will depend on your reflexes, timing and your ability to push without spinning out) G: 1st, S: 2nd, B: 5th
*S3: Short Track Passing (You are in the middle of a green flag run at Martinsville, You are in 5th but half the track behind, the only thing between you and victory is 21 back markers, 4 lead lap cars and 50 laps. Wrecking any car results in disqualification. Success will depend on your willpower, determination and the ability to judge how to Bump-n-Run somebody without spinning them out) G: 1st, S: 3rd, B: 4th

Thats all for now, plan on editing in more tomarrow

Wow - I can see Moss on this thread, and it isn't Stirling.

But

A classic car test would be nice, with bias ply tyres and dodgy brakes and "quirky" engines - none of this girly man ABS or TCS - but the track can be a classic old school job with none of these Tilke-o-matic chicanes.

Lots of pretty Sicilian hills and that eternal sunshine of the era. It can only be...

Piccolo circuit in an open top Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/3 -

You could make the tests up of sections - Nine individual tests of 5 mile sections.
Then a final test with the complete lap.

Licence cars would be themed about 1970's sports cars.

All three of your ideas are awesome.
Please apply at PD.:)

Ruf Yellow Bird on comfort medium around the 'Ring with lots of traffic.
And you get a time bonus proportional to the amount of time you spend with the rear tyres lit up, Stefan Roser style.

My dream S liscence

simple,
Morph Battlefield 3 wit GT5 with challenges taken from top gear.
The Cockster S or SLK AMG against 16 Battlfield players in a ghost town. ("Wounded!! Wounded.. left arm..)
or the Veyron VS the Eurofighter jet on the runway.
Range Rover vs a tank

On a more realistic note. I'd like some sort of historical challenge.
Just for example, Villeuneuve in montreal with the nose falling apart or at Dijon vs Arnaud for 2nd.
that kind of challenge (S liscence).
