There is easily 20-30+ sec difference(if not a whole lot more) from Sports soft to hard, and even more on race tires. The fact that so many times quoted in this thread are on race soft on a "normal" road car just make the car not "normal" anymore...
Just ran two cars there this morning, definitely not as quick as you guys from what I can tell:
Ford GT '06 - 7:16.xxx (Fully stock car with Sport Softs)
Buick GNX - 7:38.xxx (503hp, suspension tuned, Sport Softs)
These were only one lap each, so it was pretty cautious driving for the most part. Ill try to post more times of my other cars that Ive done more laps in when I get home. Cant seem to remember any of them at the moment...
Granted but surely a 430 scuderia would quite easily batter a 285hp car round the ring. The fact the civic is generally pulling out of corners and slowly accelerating the Ferrari would be pulling time hand over fist outta the civic! Regardless of tires.
Maybe I'm wrong but as I said I wasn't having ago but if the guy has driven the track allot I'd of expected quicker then 7:35 in a Ferrari tbh
Although I'm more of the mind it's down to a good set up over big power so depends how fast his car handles the corners I guess

Anyway, the Zonda R is illegal on the streets. It's like the Ferrari FXX : it's based on a regular road car, but you can use it only on tracks (if you own one lol)

Really 20/30 seconds? I don't think so I can do a 6:50 in a stock ss camaro with sport softs, and then in race softs its still only 6:40's. Once you get up into higher hp cars then the difference really shows for example a GT-R SpecV with race softs then sport softs.
I don't find that it makes it a non-normal car though I am not sure where you get your reasoning on that. Even in sport cup races mazda miatas will run slicks on there cars. Difference of opinion I guess.

They are essentially slick tires they have he most minimal amount of tread cut into them and once they are warm they are practically slick tires for road cars and are road legal so until PD decide to include road legal slicks then racing slicks are as close as you'll get

That's a lap on the ring with a stock Subaru Impreza WRX STI on sport hard tires. I was trying to match the time done by Tommi Makinen with this car, he done a 7.55.000, but his lap finished just after the last turn, but has started at the regular start line. I've done a 7.55.002, this car is fun to drive 👍
I raced a Calsonic Skyline online last night and on racing softs lapped in 6.28ish seconds.
In the second race I forgot to go back and did the race unknown on racing hard tyres, the lap was 30 second slower so yes the hard/soft compounds make a huge difference.
For what it's worth a lap from my Mclaren F1 roadcar on racing softs was 6:28 seconds or more realistically,
BMW M3 CSL 400bhp on sports soft tyres - 7:14 seconds
Nissan R35 GTR 560bhp and 1740kgs (333bhp per tonne) , Sports soft tyres - 7:05 seconds
Alfa Romeo 8C - 333bhp per tonne, sports softs, 7:18 seconds

So far I have only had one normal car with any speed out there for a run and that was in an online race. I turned a 7:03 in a 67 Cougar XR7 but it was an ugly lap. I could definitely go faster.
The Zonda R is basically a race car btw so I would not count that one nor the Stealth McLaren F1
Done a 7.26.185 with the Nissan GTR on Sport Hard for the trophy, with a couple of mistakes, including a 30° slideways moment under braking for Aremberg

I would guess from sports softs to sports hards would be no more than 6-8 secs. But thats with a laptime of 6:17-6:30. With a longer lap it will leave a larger diff. Perhaps with a 7:30 to an 8:00 lap car it might make up to 10-12 seconds diff. But certainly not 30 secs. So I cant agree.
Now in real life who the F knows!!! But in the game it doesnt make a huge diff.

I just ran the Seasonal event 4 race with the Golf around the Ring. I used a 05 Golf, first in completely stock on comfort soft. The best lap is about 8:45 ish. Granted there are maybe a few more second in there, and its not the best possible lap maybe for that car. But that was the best I can manage in 3 attempts. So I put on Sports Hard. And went for it. The first lap was with a few off track, bad cornering...etc. I got a 8:34, a couple more bad lap, and when I finally hooked up and beat the challenge on my 4th try, I ran a 8:29.1. Still with some mistakes.
Thats ~15 sec on one level of tire up with similar level of effort from me....
I stand by that there are maybe 30 sec to be found between Sport Hard and Soft....That was certainly the case in GT4...

I'm not sure if I'm jellies or not. I'd love to go but I'd be so worrid about having an off. You got fined so much for having an accident at the ring. £2000 just for one section of Armco barrier! Then all the other charges thy add for other stuff. Mazda 3 mps? If so... Nice they are deceiving cars, they don't look like they'd be as quick as they are.

As for Toyo r888's for road use they will be the closest you'd legally get to slicks in this country.
Get some r888's on your car go rag it around some turns then play the game and see which he tires are most like on the game

This video was done with a Webcam, but now I have a video acquisition card, I have a lot of replay data on my PS3, I just have to capture them and upload, someone here can suggest me a good program that allow me to convert the captured videos in a good quality and an acceptable dimension?
I have a naturally aspirated/non-turbo NSX that can get a good 7:15(average).
I think that it's pretty good for a 450hp NA NSX, compared to the 800-1000hp cars that other people have.
If only I was allowed to add a turbo charger or even a super charger, .......life in GT5 would be good.

I use a video capture card called "easycap", you can find it on ebay easily for 9€, I just connect the 3 video-audio cables from standard AV cable into it and record the replay directly from the PS3 on my pc with AMcam, then I compress it with VirtualDubMod with a DIVX Coded, because the video that come out from easycap it's like 1GB/min, but with VirtualDub I can compress it up to 20 mb/min. It's not HD quality, but it's still very good
