My favorite tires depends on what I'm doing.

Normals when I'm doing drift aracade races agaianst the AI.
Sims when I'm in free run mode trying to smoke up the tracks for show.
Slicks when I'm using a high powered (400+ HP) car
Softs when I'm grip racing.

My preferences are grippier tires (non-sims), because I have more fun working to get a good drift.

I doubt all the great drifters rely on sims (Its just that we see many of the good drift clips to be from sims), if you have good fient motion, like with help from a wheel, you don't need sims and can produce the same drifts with normal tires. It's more rewarding. But for exhibition and for show, sims makes things easier. "If someone is offended by this, don't be, I enjoy using sims too, you know its true and sims makes your drifting life easier becauase you don't have to rely on your weight transfer like you do with gripper tires, you can just gas it hard and turn in to produce more angle".

most of my cars have at least medium tires, so thats what i drift with. i'm too lazy to always change the tire everytime... so medium seems to do about average for me.

never tried with sims though, i guess i'll have to do that in a bit...

To be honest, the tires don't matter that much to me. I think it's strange how everyone is talking about sims as being too slick. They are only too slick, if you are using too much HP for them. 250hp, 300hp, is really too much for sims, and is done intentionally for show. Also, my 500hp drift cars, on sport tires, handle and slip just as much as my 200HP cars, on sims. If the cars are setup correctly, the tires, are almost a perfect transition, with the HP increase intervals. The trick is figuring out what the correct tire is, using weight, and HP as your primary factors, to build kind of a mental graph (or put it down to remember, if you forget everything, like me), of the correct tire, to HP, and then depending on the weight, add or subtract the tire, or HP..........

;)

But how many 300+ hp (non-factory) cars do you know of running around with the tires tey came with. Think of sims as stock if that helps

yeah most people who are drifters use up there tires fast like my friend with a Corolla86<--(not Trueno Or Leven)
he used up his tires fast and one side of the tires are messed up so he has to switch them

I thought sports and sims costed the same, they did last time i checked :odd: I tried to drift with sims but, all i did was burn out and spin out, maybe its because my Silvia Spec R has like 520HP, I've tried all the tires with my silvia, and the slicks were to grippy, and the sims were too slippy, but the sports were just right...Kinda reminds me of the 3 bears...
