What was your very first car?

The very first car I got to drive on a regular basis was my dad's very first bought car, that he still had (and has). It was badged as a 1979 Chevrolet Chevair (although similar to a Vauxhall Ascona it had a slightly different body shape), and had a 2.3l, 3 speed auto layout. Pretty easy driving, but no great shakes with get-up-and-go.

My first bought car was/is a 1999 Toyota Corolla Hatch (also called a Conquest or a Tazz). It is a 1.3l, 5 speed layout and rates much the same as the Chevy performance wise.

Here is a pic of the Corolla, and below a pic of the Vauxhall/Chevy. I couldnt find a pic of the Chevair, but it looked 95% like the Ascona.

Why stop with our first? From earliest, to present:

2000 Toyota Sienna; Drove it with my learners permit. Still at our household, my mom's daily driver.
1995 Nissan Altima; My very first car that was mine. I totalled it in two weeks.
2002 Hyundai Accent; Was totalled when an ATV slammed into the front driver side, bending the frame.
2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS; The whole start of my Subaru love affair. Was sold 5 months after I bought it, when a sneaky salesman got me.
2004 Subaru Impreza WRX; The sneaky salesman made me do it. I love it to death.

My first car was actually a nice big ol truck. i had a 1974 Ford F-250 Ranger XLT with the 460. unfortunately it was a pile and soon stopped running.

1991 Ford Fiesta SX, with a mad tyte 1100cc engine. I learned to drive in it, probably had the worst clutch in a car i've ever driven and this includes an old ford sierra with allot of bodywork missing.
1982 Ford Escort 1.6ghia
1980_mkIII_escort.jpg

Not a bad car for it's age, still kicking at around 70,000 miles in my brothers hands now. Hey I got it for free of an uncle who moved to spain.
1998 VW Polo 1.4 CL
The first car i've actually bought, fun enough to drive. But it's just a daily driver.

Mines a red one though.

The next car i'm looking to get is either a 1st gen MX-5/Eunos Roadster, or an AW11 MR2.

My first car was a 1991 Eagle Talon TSi FWD auto that was given to me by my dad. A year later I bought my 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD manual that I still currantly drive.

I could've bought a nice MKII GTi, but the insurance companies laughed at me. :grumpy:

My first was a really nice '91 Civic Si... that got hit by a truck.

Next is my current '87 MR2, which is nice, when it's running.

Up next is either a cheap little hatchback of some sort that I can actually afford to drive, or a little sportbike.

Gentlemen, get ready to weep with jealousy :p

1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. Burnt Senna. 3.8 fuel injected V6. 3-speed GM hydromatic. Cloth velour seating. AM radio. Dead AC. This b1tch was so bad, the motor would stumble and die while making hard rights because the gas would slosh away from the fuel pickup. PIMPIN!

2-Nissan 300ZX Turbo 86 (fast, unreliable)

3-VW Jetta TD 88 (SLOW (around 50-60 hp) :( , nimble, pieces falling apart....)

4-Ford Tempo 89 2-doors :yuck: temporary when Jetta broke...

5-VW Golf CL 97 (not fast, but FUN to drive)

6-Volvo S70 T5 98 - (no comparison... :D)

Here's my first. A crappy Opel Kadett D in the exact same color as on the pic. Could it be the ugliest tone of blue ever? It topped out at 135 km/h on the speedo.

My first car was actually a SUV. . . : ( It blew donkey nard - Except it was Black and we called it the death mobile.

Next car was the begining of the Miata and a Civic. I picked the Miata up realitively cheap. . . Then began to build the monster. . . The civic just got me from point A to point B and I was actually pretty fond of the car because it was extremely reliable. . .

except in black

Then came the faithful collapse of the Miata under an Escalade - bastige drunk parking lot driver. . . Then the next project car - 1989 Iroc - Z

jconnolly.jpg

Also got a Mustang along the way that would run 11.9s in the quarter mile. . . Until Two speeding tickets in less then a month; which in turn made me sell it along with the IROC -

Finally, I am currently using Kristen's car, a '03 RSX Type S : ) I have grown in respect to this car ever since I have been driving it. . .

See my avatar. Then imagine it in turquoise with a white vinyl hardtop.

pont6701.JPG

First car I ever bought: 1980 Toyota Supra Mk I. Worst-engineered car I've ever owned, but gobs of torque.

supra-mkI_02.jpg

First car I ever bought new from a dealer: 1992 Dodge Caravan. We thought about getting a red one like this, but it was just too much paint to be that bright a color. Ours was Gunmetal Grey, with dark glass in the back.

Thanks! 20 years ago when I first restored it, it was. Then I drove it daily and could only park it out side for the next 6 or 8 years. I still drive it in the summer. Now it's in the garage but it definitely needs a frame-off this time. Maybe if I hit the lottery...

1997 Z28 - Drove it for like 2 weeks after I turned 16.
2001 S2000 - drove it after the Z for about 9 months.
1999 Z28 - Owned it for a few days, or weeks, or some ****. Bought it at a police auction for a friend who lost it in a DUI/drug related deal.
1995 Lexus GS300 - Bought it after we sold the Honda. Still use it as a daily driver.
1997 T/A WS6. Blew the motor. Rebuilt it, ran it into a ditch about a week later. That car ruled, though.
1997 Lincoln Continental - bought it for my girlfriend.
2003 SVT Cobra - My current baby.

I think that's everything - not including boats, and motorcycles.

My first car was SEAT Ibiza 1997 model, I still have it. However I'm saving money fast for a nice TVR and I will hopefully have one end of this year early next.

1989-1995 - a 1981 Mercury Cougar 4 door with a 302 V-8. It was the car they could never find in parts stores. The 302 always threw them off as the 4 door 'Coug usually only came with a V-6. I had almost 200K on it when I finally sold it. The car had about 89K when it came into my possesion.

1995-1997 A 1995 Ford Contour GL 2.0L Zetec MTX In Medium Willow (Green) I found the window sticker the other day...*sniff sniif* my first new car. I put 69K on it in two years.

1997 - 1997 A 1996 Ford Contour SE 2.5L Duratec V6 ATX in Cabernet Red. The same color as my currrent car, but I will get to that shortly. Two weeks after I got it, I lost my job, which lead me to giving it back to FoMoCredit. I spent $300 on my next ride,

1997 - 1999 a 1983 VW Rabbit GTI, black, broken windows, no radio and the hood finally flew off one cold morning on my way home from work. I saved up a little money and got a

1999 - 2002 a 1991 Honda Civic Si. Drove the crap outta that car. Went through two engines in it. After the original engine crapped out, I dropped a B16B in it. DOHC, only lasted a year. After the second engine died, I was a much better position, moneywise, so I went back to Ford and got a

2002 - present a 2000 Ford Contour SE Sport 2.5L V6 Duratec MTX in Cabernet Red. I love the way these cars drive. Twisties in my family sedan rock. I bought it with 49K miles on it on 9/11/02 and I now am at around 94K.

Although I don't technically have a first car, my grandpa left me his 96 Sebring JXI convertible in the will. But I'm not sure if I'll keep it, since it's front wheel drive, auto transmission, and it's got mediocre reliability as with most American cars of that time. And it's a soft top, not something I want to be driving around during a Canadian winter. If I do sell it, I'm looking at getting a 240SX, a hardtop Miata, or an MR2.
