Your idea of 'Modern Muscle' in GT3

Modern Muscle refering to vehicles with high power, weight, or reputaion. Here, I will start off: The Aston Martin V8 Vantage. A car that's the size of a damn Buick, weighs 4,300 :eek: pounds(1955 kilos for our friends in other countries) Had a 5.3 litre(?) V8 with 550 horsepower on tap. Sounds like a recipe for a muscle car to me.
 
The term "muscle car" also usually means a lot of hp for a little money. So, I'll say the Camaro SS. Last time through the game, I recall getting it pretty early on as a prize car, and it ended up over 700 hp.
 
"Muscle Car" also means ****ty handling, if we go by your definitions. So, Mercedes CL600.
 
Camaro SS and Z06 are both great modern muscle cars. The Aston Martin was also a good pick, especially since it is foreign and for that reason, would usually be over-looked.

So I do like the picks so far, but for me, I've gotta come up with something new... and so...

Well duh, the svt cobra R, but that is given. ;)

How about the dodge viper gts. :lol:
Or the Z28 :lol:

All given, so how about I try to name something a bit on the un-expected side... hmmm...

What about the tickford falcon XR8.
That thing might be a race car, but even for a racer it has unusual torque.

Also, can't forget the Corvette Grand Sport.
I love the grand sport.

Corvette Grand Sport, Corvette Z06, Camaro Z28, Camaro SS, Mustang SVT Cobra R, V8 Vantage, CL600, Speed 6, Griffith 500 and the Speed 12 to a lesser extent. They all own the modern muscle car name to me.
 
The Viper pwnz, and I'll now run away before the flaming trolls arive to ruin the bandwith.

It's okay Jetboys. good thread.

Mercury Marauder = good idea, bad execution. but it's not in the game. Should be in GT4 as America's answer to those big Mercedes. That would be cool.
 
Would be neat, maybe throw a T-bird in there for good measure and the concept Mustang('05).
And a Daytona. the superbird was the weak-sauce variant of the 'Winged Wonders.'

Well if you are going to go out of the game I gotta go with the Shelby Mustang GT500. Or the 350. Muscle at its best.

Kinda odd noone mentioned the Japeneise 'muscle cars': skyline, supra, and the like. Of course maybe most dont think this way.....:p
 
Don't mean to sound arrogant but 'Modern Muscle' with emphasis on Modern.
 
This is an interesting question cause what you have to try to define "Muscle car" I think for me, a muscle car is really a car that has an emphasis on Power over everything else. So like the new Ford GT would qualify more as a race car because of its emphasis on not only power but handling, while the Concept Shelby Cobra would qualify more as a muscle car because of its emphasis on pure power.

Some cars I would qualify as 'Mondern Muscle'
Dodge SRT-4
Pontiac GTO
Mustang GT (i mean SOLID AXLE!!)
SVT Cobra
SVT Lightning
Dodge Ram SRT-10
Dodge Viper SRT-10
Chevy Corvette
Chevy Camaro

Toyota Supra
Mitsubishi 3000gt

Mercedes-benz SL600
CL600
SL55
etc... (all of them make around 500hp and need loads of electronics just to stay tame enough for the road)

All TVRs but especially the Speed 12
 
The only "true" modern muscle car is the Viper. It is nowhere near trendy modern muscle cars like the Vette or the Mustang.
 
I dare to differ. For one, the Corvette has had IRS (a 'non-musclecar' attribute) for as long as I can remember. Secondly, the Corvette has an engine bigger than most Mercedes' under $100k. Thirdly the Vette is powered by a n/a pushrod V8 and has a 4 speed auto as an option. Yesterday's technology, most say:lol: However, the Corvette wasn't only built to compete with Ford's Thunderbird and Mustang, it also went toe-to-toe with the Euros, and still does.:) It has a now-400-cubic inch LS2 V8 (or somewhere around that area), making 400 hp out of the box. And that's before GM Performance tweaks out to the LS7, which some GM insiders openly admit could make as much as 500 horsepower. Factor in the always-awesome handling, sub-$60k pricetag, and sensible Corvette name ('It's a Corvette, honey, not a supercar:rolleyes: ) and you've got a Viper and 'GT44' eater.

In GT3, nothing tops a Z/28 or Grand Sport for muscle:trouble:

I'm willing to bet there are plenty who would argue that the viper is not the only muscle car in the game.

And about the vette being trendy. :rolleyes:
How about powerful and beautiful.

I'm not saying the viper is bad or anything, I'm just saying that it is not the be all and end all of muscle.

If you were to ask me, the viper is over-rated and over-weight.

However, the viper has awesome power and the looks aren't exactly bad either. ;)

Still though, the muscle car of modern times has to have one thing the viper doesn't have... a reasonable sticker price.

With the svt cobra r at $50,000 and the dodge viper at $81,000, the $47,000 Z06 seems like a great choice for the #1 modern muscle car. :D

I've always called the 1970-2004 Celica/2005 tC a 'Japanese F-Body':lol:

Face it, even though I'd love to see the Celica nameplate live on, Toyota made the right call moving their cheap and rather youthful sport coupe to the new subsidary we call Scion.

Sounds fine to me since it still puts the vette well into the "cheap" range compared to the viper.

I would take the vette over the viper pretty much any time, but hey, I guess at that level of sports car it comes down to personal choice. :D

I was going to suggest the $50K-CDN Maurader, too, since it is modern muscle. It's just not big muscle, in terms of today's 500+HP monsters.

What has better execution, at a much lower price, is the new Chrysler 300 with the German engine, etc.

Ford showed a big black car (looked like a Cadillac) at the recent auto shows that would fit, too, but I am not sure its a production car. If it is, then there is another example.

yeah GoKents, The Z06 is definately better than the Cobra or Viper. It's also an amazing car for the money compared to others.
Victor Vance also knows what he is talking about. How did you get that Corvette logo??? I WANT!
I have never been a Ford fan, and more of a Mustang Hater, but i couldn't really say they are pieces of crap, because they aren't. they just aren't as good as Camaros or Firebirds. Oh and they are ugly.

Man this dude knows what he is talkin' about! ;) I could not have said it better myself. I also like JrunkenC's comment. Master GT, that car was prolly the Ford 49 concept. And the Mustang most certainly does not suck:irked: , for it is a very versitale car. (Grip, Drift, Rally).
Crossfire would also be a good choice, and it should be in GT4, if it isn't already.

no, I went and found it. It's the Ford 427 Concept.

That's 427CI, not 4.27 Liters, so it should qualify as a muscle car, if they ever produce it. ;)
