Oc256 is the fastest, dork!

Oc256 is upward of 2000 times faster then 56k.

Pretty much anything over about 128 KB per second could be considered broadband - it's just a term used to refer to any technology other than analog modems. A OC-256 is capable of around 13.2 gigabits per second.

And when the price goes down... Right now, our family is only paying $100 a year for our connection (albeit a lousy one), so it'll be a while before we make the switch... Even the new "cheaper" broadband connections that are being offered (~$30 a month) is still too much for my dad to get. $20 a month would be right for him. ;)

Me.

Anywho, back to more serious matters, i am on a very slow 56k. :(

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line.
'Asymmetric' means than bandwidth speeds are faster for downloading than uploading.
- Upload speed ranges from: 16-640 Kbps
- Download speeds range from: 1.5-8 Mbps

There are quite a few different versions of DSL too.

But you's already knew all that.

I am on 56k. This site goes fast for me. Or so I think until I get broadband. Where I liev broadband is unavailable. We can only get it through or cable company and I do not like them. :(

Actually no I didn't, but thank you for clearing that up.

You are so right Jordan! It rocks!
That's great! What kinds of speeds are you getting from speed tests? Anyway, here's a few high-bandwidth sites that you might want to check out on your new fat pipe... You might have seen them before, but I guarantee they will be a lot more fun to visit on broadband! :D

F1 Seasons (one of my favorite sites!!!)
movies.taner.net (I've got about 3 GB of automotive videos from this site! I recommend GetRight to quickly grab and manage the large number of files.)
Farzad's F1 Gallery
FORMULA one PHOTO
Wrecked Exotics

EarthViewer 3D (incredible software)

Oh, and don't forget to tweak your new connection at SpeedGuide.net! :)
