I normally don't listen to music while racing, but last weekend I decided to pop in De-Loused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta and run some night laps at La Sarthe. Wow... I would recommend this experience to everyone.

For the menus I prefer a custom jazz playlist - Cannonball Adderley, Lee Morgan, Art Blakey, Miles etc.

1 artist: SKRILLEX!

..., deadmau5, Benny Benassi and Ellie Goulding.

Since I play online with friends and we use mics, all sounds are lowered down to 45 or something I have turned off race music. I was using in the menu the loading themes and game themes from Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition. They are instrumental and they fit perfectly. However, I removed those and im now using Jazz/Lounge music from the GT5 library :)

AC/DC Cover You In Oil
U.D.O Doom Ride
Judas Priest Turbo Lover
W.A.S.P Love Machine
Nitzer Ebb Getting Closer
DJ Khalid I'll I Do Is Win
Pink Don't Let Me Get Me (This song is very appropriate for B-Spec racing considering it starts out "Never win first place..." and later on "I'm a hazard to myself"
...and so many more.

FYI...what the F is up with the 70's porn music in the tuning shop? Why can't that be eliminated with the music on my playlist?

Oh nice I loved that music!

My music during races: none!!
My music during menus, the standard GT5 sounds, because if I would be using my own music, the game would be even sloweerrrrrerrrrrrrrr...!

Epica and Nightwish. Range of emotions, speed, and sounds. Perfect for racing 👍

I forgot that one. Got Nightwish Bye Bye Beautiful. Appropriate for passing all the Lamborghini and Ferrari in those specific races.

Praga Khan Injected with a Poison is a good one too.
Republica Ready to Go

Maybe I missed the boat on this one, can you put music from an iPod into GT5 so I don't have to listen to elevator music?

I turn any and all game music off and instead pipe whatever I'm in the mood for into my stereo via my computer.

Yes. It took me some hit and missed to get it right, but it's not hard.

Plug your ipod into the ps3 (in the front where you plug in the controler). From the PS start-up screen you can do it through audio control. I read a tutorial somewhere, I think it was on youtube (there was a video how it's done so you can see what the option menu looks like on the screen). Once you load up whatever music you want to play in the options menu on your home screen in GT5, you're good to go. Although, whenever you go to buy, or fix your car, you have to listen to the game music. There is no getting rid of the 70's porn bass guitar when you tune your vehicle.

Use this first:

create a playlist file, dump all the songs you want into said file, then this:

None of the jacka$$es who did a video showed you both steps, they just assume you "know" how to do one or the other.

FYI - It took me longer than it should have to transfer. With the ipod hooked up and scrolling through the songs list via the PS3, about 80% of the songs showed up like this "K3WR" and the like. The name had nothing to do with the song or the artist. So I had to play the first couple of notes from every song to figure out what the damn song was.

Rock, Alternative, Trance, Dubstep, drum&bass, a little bit of HipHop for the mod, Classical music. well It seems I pick everything best from each music genre! :) 500 songs hardly chosen form my 50 GB mp3 collection, which I started to make 1st say I knew GT5 will have custom playlists, and this is not finished even today, cuz I update it every month with something new and fresh, so it never gets old.. Music for me is 50% of pleasure in driving... :)

Foo Fighters, Pendulum, Incubus, AC/DC, Queen, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, Rev Theory, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and many more that I can't remember right now totalizing 511 musics.

Got a playlist set up with some Tool, Run Level Zero, Fields of the Nephilim, Kovenant...just a mad industrial playlist of songs I love, helps me race for some reason :D

None of that metal/ rock business, I have Katy B for the menus and for racing either instrumentals from MCLA, NFS Undercover, SR3 or GTA SA, or an R&B / Electro playlist with some Arab money in there too.

I've started putting rap on menus now, but not 'fake' rap I'm talking about the real stuff NWA, Slim Thug, Nate Dogg etc

I use every Wipeout soundtrack on shuffle. I think Fusion is the weakest of them all, Pure isn't the best either, but they all have something good to listen to. It's not even my usual taste, though it's not far off, I think I just like to listen to it because it reminds me of how careful you have to be about the line you're taking when you're playing Wipeout. I also listen to it when I'm driving in real life, it makes me way more aware of what I'm doing somehow. Not saying I drive like a crazy person, because I don't, but I find it helps me concentrate.

I don't have anything for the menus, maybe I'll put the 2001: A Space Odyssey and Deus Ex: Human Revolution soundtracks on there for those? Also Sprach Zarathustra would make great music for buying cars...

Got a mixture of Machinehead, Black Label Society and Metallica. The only problem being when I'm in my own car with these tracks playing I always get a bit carried away!
Oops!

Ah yes, Leeds... I'm sure they call that the Compton of the UK. I'm sure you can relate.

haha I'd have to agree! It also has some strange kinda magnetism... Last time I was there, it took us nearly an hour to escape the place as my mates sat nav kept throwing us back onto the inner city ring road

:( :(

My race BGM consists entirely of Rammstein. That's it. Their discography and nothing else. It works well >_>
