I like standard cars :)
If it is a car that interests me, there is no way I'm going to pass it up just because it's standard.

This is a fairly popular position around here. What I understand about that is there was evidently a problem with the interior and driver cam placement...

Oh, I'm well aware. I've been keeping up on the latest, trust me :)

Not trying to start anything, but if the cars were never modeled for a cockpit view, that kinda lends some weight to the theory that the standard cars are upscaled GT4 cars.

In the end, I don't care either way...

And I'll just make bumper/hood/roof view work.

I can still wish, though... :D

Well for me cockpit view is everything. I have to feel the car.

I'll use bumper cam only for standard cars ...

I have no interest in bumper cam ... it feels for me like rubbish, I have no feeling what car I'm driving.

Well I'll still drive them due to licences and career, but for fun almost never.

I would actually be pleased if there were "standard only" races that would resemble the early E3 2005 Vision GT trailer.

In that sense you could have a larger field with 20+ of the lower detailed standard cars, rather than a field of 12 to 16 premium cars.

What do you guys think?

Umm that would sound like segregation on a level. Saying that it wouldnt affect the amount of cars on field.

You do understand that there can be so much more to a racing game than a graphic editor? Its all about the way the game is designed. One game keeps doing what they've been doing while one has a new game on new hardware and wants to do much more than their last game and take advantage of the extra system power(1080p,16 cars, Day/Night, Dynamic weather, 3D.

Arguably GT hadn't evolved a great deal in the first 4 games and have only now been able to add real innovations to the series. The first three games were largely perfecting the formula and now with the studio's maturity, we are seeing them branch out. Given T10's infancy compared to PD, it's not inconceivable to see they're trying to make the crux of Forza, so one day they can have the same luxury of time as PD. As a basis, T10 could have been hamstrung by having a game akin to Sega GT to work with and that was poor all round (I currently have SGT02 to drive my own car in-game) but fortunately they aren't and it's a good game lacking polish.

And there can be so much more to a racing game than accepting what is given to you. The freedom to create your own race car design must appeal to some level, surely? If you argue that GT5 is better - and having not played GT5P, I'm not going to argue against that point - then racing in an amazing game in your own creation would be super rewarding.

And just to keep igniting the fire check this out:

I know I am a couple days late on this, but I don't spend every waken moment on GTP. I noticed in this video that the steering wheel has 900 degree rotation, unlike what we have seen in all GT5 footage. I do hope that makes it into the final game. It just looks strange seeing the driver on screen not turning the wheel as much as I am. I don't look at it actually driving since I am focused on the track, but it would be nice in replays. It is not a deal breaker at all though. I just happen to notice it in that video, so they have done it before, and it actually looked pretty fluid when the driver was doing it.

attention deficit kids..."

Let me correct that, "lazy kids", or "kids that want everything given to them".

I say this, because my fiance's daughter has ADHD, and she might loose interest quickly in somethings, but if she is really determined to do something, or is really interested in doing something, she will focus on it with a passion, and strive to be better. She has a Wii, and yes every once in a while she will ask for a new game, but she still plays the ones that are quality games that she is passionate about. Another example: I introduced her to GT5P, and she was really bad at first like most people are when they first pick up a GT game, but she didn't loose interest, and want to just turn off the game and never play it again. She wanted to better herself, and after a few frustrating laps, she starting making complete laps without hitting anything, and was very rewarding to her, and now she can't wait until the full game comes out.

This statement is not to argue, but more of a statement of correction. The used games will mostly show up either because people need the money, or they find it too hard and are not willing to put in the time to properly drive in a driving simulator. ADD or ADHD has nothing to do with it. It is just a generational thing, and most are not willing to spend time learning things anymore, but would rather have the best of everything given to them, and want to be able to slide around the track, like in arcade games.

Funny this is exactly what I said about Forza when it came out except the blue bold was damage, livery editor, online races etc etc... I am not sure it's reasonable to compare a company and say they are doing what they have been doing, when that franchise has existed solely in a window between two of GT5s releases...

Haven't played the demo, but if you can't swing around the camera around the car (or interior) whats the point of having these insanely detailed models. Mostly interior. If the camera is fixed, you wouldn't really see anything beyond a certain point besides replay...I hope this isn't the case.

In most racing games you can swing the camera around the car during the race, but I think the right joystick in GT5 is going to be used as it was in GT4 :(

In Prologue it was limited to left & right movements, it would seem possible that movements in other directions should be possible with all the work PD put into it. I recently played the Best Buy demo, but didn't check this out. Looking at all the demos so far, it would appear to be the same as Prologue. Games such as NFS:Shift do allow for full movement. :)

Yes, NFS allowed 360 movement, but in cock it was like you where actually the driver.

I played the Best Buy demo this morning, and your couldn't swing the camera at all, but that was just because you couldn't change the controls (the analog sticks were mapped to steering and throttle, and so were the D-Pad and face buttons). I think you could move the camera completely around in the GT Academy demo, though.

Im betting because PD put in all that work making the cars detailed to the last t we are going to be able to see the whole interior. In GT5P you could See left right and rear.

I thought photo mode was able to take photo's of the interior. I might be wrong though.

If it were the case then the whole interior could be modelled too.

Lets not make a debate like the last one though eh King.:sly:

 Yeah your right.

Well i wouldnt, it hasnt been demostrated in builds which is ???? but there are tons more we wont know about before 28 days.

Yea no doubt just saying with all that detail you would think PD would let us see the interior, however the camera views in GT5P interior is cool with me. We might be able to do what you can do in Forza3 in replay mode and take a picture of the cars interior.

I'm "previewing" the prospect of racing Standard cars in GT5 by fooling around with GT4. I am trying to imagine what this experience would be like in GT5. The real concern to me lies in just how much above GT4 quality will Standard cars be in GT5, and will it really matter just how much over quality the models are.

Mm, I've been playing GT4 a lot recently. On some cars in GT4, I can spot a few irregularities or 'cut corners' with the car modelling, hopefully PD will have improved them in GT5.

Play Prologue in bumper cam view, or watch a few hood cam videos of GT5. That will show you what the experience will be like in GT5.

Personally I have no concerns whatsoever. The whole standard/premium thing is only skin deep, with all cars using the same mechanical damage, physics and audio engine. This means that no matter what car you drive, they will all feel the same quality, at least if you don't care about cockpit view. The main area where the differences will be most noticeable is in replay mode...not something I bother with too much either.

In my mind the way the are capturing sounds now is different then in the previous games. I don't know this for a fact but technology has gotten better and I'm sure the recordings of the cars have changed. I'm sure they will sound great though.

That was my point, the leap in hardware allowed PD to do more with it. For Forza it advanced in more ways than it devolved when it leaped to new hardware, autocross and night racing is gone but not much has changed in terms of gameplay since F1. There have been changes but nothing major, not a bad thing.

Missed the original post and take my response out of context?. He said premium higher detailed car models, weren't really a great compromise to Forza's livery editor. As if GT had nothing else going for it. Its the game's design.

Well it appears that the Ae86 is a premium :)

gt5ae86.jpg

Doesn't look premium to me, it's got that same old tint effect GT4 has, also watching the video a few times in the past it looks like a standard car, especially when you see the difference with the FT86 in the video.

I see the driver's helmet/head.

AE86 is an iconic drift car, no way PD will leave it standard when you have other classic JDM cars being confirmed as premium already. Ie why is an EK and EG civic more worthy than an AE86, if this is not the case?

It just looks different, because it's an old car. Much like how the old RX7 doesn't look as "premium" as they newer cars
