Toyota Tacoma X-Runner. With all due respect (and I said this in the GT4 forum), the Tacoma is a sports car in a truck body. The truck is even usually at the front of the pack when doing the Pick-Up Truck Challenge. I even used that truck to win those races in A-Spec and B-Spec. That even includes that crazy close finish I had at Daytona with the Tacoma. After being really ticked off at winning a race I could have won, I put more money into building that better mouse trap. The Tacoma may not have the horsepower or whatever, but it is a truck you can actually WIN with.

It was my truck in GT4; it's my truck in GT5. Can't go wrong with the Tacoma. You stand a better change in this series with that truck than you do with the Daihatsu Midget D-Type (which shouldn't even be part of the list of qualified pickups. However, it is a pickup truck).

I like the Tacoma. Very easy to drive and wins the sport truck races with very minimal tuning. The Ram would be a close second. Slides like a dream haha.

Have you ever driven a modified DRW truck? I think it would put a smile on your face. Although the powerband on a chipped turbo diesel is short, it is he'll on wheels when it hits. I have a '99 Vette IRL that has issues keeping up with my Dually from 55 to 80 roll on. Plus the stability in corners with a DRW is unmatched. You'll lose the front end before the rear even squirms.

having driven a Cayenne, X5, Range in real life didn't put a smile on my face , i can't see how a F150 would (unless offroad, and that only applied to the Range. Range organizes 1 day off road events for owners and that was fun)

Those all being SRW gas trucks with soft suspensions. Turbo Diesel is the only way to go when it comes to trucks IMHO. Better fuel economy and gobs of power. When I bought my truck new it had 325hp with 590lbs of torque. For $500 I plugged in a PPE chip and added 150hp/260 lbs of torque. You just can't do that with a gasser. Range Rover? Oh god stay away from the SUV rollover king. Ford? Notoriously underpowered on their gas lineup. Cayennes are sweet, wicked fast with the Turbo version. Something like 500hp if I remember correctly. X5... It's a Beemer, sits a little to high but everyone I know has respect for BMW.

uuuhhh unless you spelt ford wrong, I think you mean't dodge. Ford has always produced gas engines with high power and torque. Always been above the competitors every time I see the yearly competition. Especially with its new 3.5l twin turbo, that thing beats anything else out there with a ton better fuel mileage. Dodge on the other hand has a tendency to keep adding liters to their engine till they can get power to kind of compete. Resulting in HORRIBLE gas mileage. GM does good, but they don't bother to much about it since they have the same two truck lineups with just a different badge.

On topic note, trucks are far from being bricks. They have to be made with certain weights and also be made for maximum spacing for the comfort one would want. Ford lightning handles great, just this game doesn't show that at all. Also you can't complain about trucks when sometimes their engines are used in cars.

If I have to drive one, which you do unfortunately, the Toyota Tacoma X-Runner is the only choice... cos it's not American, doesn't feel like your driving a bus, and when fully tuned runs very nicely.

The best "truck/pickup" though is the Midget, and always will be.

For my my favourite truck in GT is the Toyota, reason is a good balance of weight/performance with the emphasis on weight. You can really feel the weight of the Ram and F150 when braking and turning.

Although I do have a soft spot for Fords seeing as I put quite a few miles on this last year.
