Welcome to the Zero Cup.

Each event has a theme, with most of the time a unique car (it can also be a duel between 2 cars - you then have to pick your side).

For each event, there are 2 races, the first one being on a custom track. You always get at least 5 days to download the custom track and practice.

Each race is set up to last around 25 min. There is a 10 minute qualifying session for the first race to set the grid. For the 2nd race we use a reversed grid based on the 1st race results.

The points are attributed as follows:
25-21-18 -- 16-14-12-10 -- 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
Which means if you turn up you are assured to get at least 1 point.

The rankings are based on the last 8 events only, which means even if you have missed the early events, you will still get a chance to climb up the table.

If you want to take part, you need to send me a friend request (don't forget to mention the Zero Cup in your friend request so I don't ignore it) and/or a PM on gtplanet. People who are willing to join regularly are preferred but there's no pressure to be present every single week.

Event type: mini championship of 2 races
Qualifications: 10 minutes

The tracks:
Track 1: Stonehenge South (download available from my profile ) – 15 laps
Track 2: Grand Valley Speedway – 12 laps

Only car allowed : TVR Tuscan Speed 6 RM ‘00

PP max : 580pp
Tyres: Sports Soft only
Tuning:
- What is compulsory: the car must have been Race Modified (through GT Auto) to reach the target weight of 885kg
- What is allowed: modifying the aerodynamics settings, gear ratios and brake balance. Any bhp related modification needed to reach the target of 580PP (but do not abuse the Power Limiter - 97% max)
- What is forbidden: any other modification is forbidden. For example, the suspension settings must be left as is

Damage: light
Grip reduction on wet/grass: real
Boost: none
Penalties: none
Tyre/Fuel Depletion: on
Driving line: off
Skid recovery force: off
Active Steering: off
ASM: off
TCS: authorised
ABS: authorised

Perhaps. How long is said Stonehenge South? How long does 15 laps take?
 
It's roughly 90 sec a lap, as far as I remember....

So thats... 20-25 mins? And GVS is 2 mins/lap... That's also 25... Sign me up :D I'll send you an FR later today.
 
One question: Do the races start at 9BST or is that when qualifiying starts, and then there obv a few minutes between each race, or what?
 
We meet at 9pm then start qualifying straight away (I'll be getting things ready 5 to 10 min early and won't mind someone else being early as well). If anyone's late, he gets less qualifying laps... The race will then start as soon as possible (someone may need a toilet break after quali :D ).
Then we may have a couple of min break before we do it all over again for the 2nd race.

But we'll be flexible anyway...
 
Cool. Also, today, my GT5 online has been acting like a *Insert multitude of abusive adjectives and nouns here*, so let's hope it clears up for Wednesday.
 
Unless there's an emergency, I will have a practice session tonight (time tbd). Anyone PM me if you're interested in taking advantage of the tarmac...
 
If I get time to learn the Stonehenge I 'll probably come race with you. FR sent.

Good race meet tonight, for a few of us it was our first time with new racers, so I think next week will be even better!

Daddy's Cup - Wednesday 27th July 2011 at 8.30pm BST

For this mini championship, you are married and a happy father of 3.
So no much choice there, you end up with an estate. Of course you can't mess with Mrs' comfort. So even though she's nice enough to let you pimp your ride, some updates won't do. She wants to be comfy, so playing with the suspension is not an option. You wouldn't want to give the neighbours a reason to complain so really, the exhaust has to stay as is. And of course, we're not lunatics, so any extra aero parts are a no go... Mrs is very persuasive.

The tracks:
Track 1: Noriga (download available from my profile) – 15 laps - Qualifications : 10 min
Track 2: Nurburgring Nordschleife - 2 laps - No qualifying: reversed grid based on previous race results

Only cars allowed : Estates (or Sports Wagons)
MPVs (such as Honda Element or Nissan Cube) are arbitrarily not allowed because Mrs doesn't like vans.

Minimum weight: 1500kg
Maximum power: 250bhp per ton
Tyres: Sports Soft only
Tuning:
- What is compulsory: nothing
- What is forbidden: suspension and exhaust must remain unchanged. Fitting aero parts is not allowed
- What is allowed: anything else, but do not abuse of the power limiter (97% min). Somehow, Mrs didn't say anything about weight reduction. Enjoy!


NEW RULE:
Only car allowed: Unmodified Audi RS6 Avant '08


Minimum weight: 2025kg
Maximum power: 582bhp
Tyres: Sports Soft only
Tuning:
- What is forbidden: everything
- Only an oil change and tuning the brake balance are allowed!

About yesterday I must say that the Stonehenge-track was brilliant, one of the best self-made tracks I've tried. We should use it again sometime.
The car was perfect (for me) on that track but on Grand Valley it was so bad, seemed like everybody felt bad on GV.

Anyway great races yesterday and I look forward to next Wednesday.
 
Im up for this, PSN ade3210. Im usually on most evenings during the week until about 10pm and later at weekends.
 
OK, I have added you and am looking forward to the estate car race next wednesday. Can you please confirm the entry requirements (power limiter 97% min??) and any tuning except exhaust, suspension and aero. I take it transmission and drivetrain parts are ok to tune.
 
Yes, apart from the 3 'comfort disturbing' forbidden modifications, you do what you want to your car. As for the '97% mini', what I mean is that we shouldn't tune our car to the maximum and then make it '250ch/ton' compliant by abusing the power limiter, which would then give some unfair torque and power curves.
Does it make sense?

Cobrius, we'll definitely reuse Stonehenge South but before that we'll also reuse Stonehenge North (used for the Stonehenge Cup). And I also have 2 more (hopefully) interesting tracks for you guys.

Changes to the Daddy's Cup!!



I've done some testing tonight and it makes me change the rules of the event.

I've be running with the Toyota Caldina, a Subaru Impreza SW and the Audi RS6 Avant '08.

I had to go against the rules for the RS6: the car has 582bhp by default, which means that even when adding 200kg, which takes the car to an incredible 2225kg, I still have to use the power limiter to make it go down to 250bhp/ton, in this case 556bhp. Which is an adjustment of the power limiter to 95.6%, under the 97% initially announced. Are you still following?

The thing is that with this setup (556bhp, 2225kg), the car is 3 or 4 seconds faster than the other 2 cars mentionned above (set up to 375bhp and 1500kg). At least with me at the wheel!

So I have 2 choices: rule out the RS6 or... I make it the only car to be used!!

I know some will be happy (aren't you, Peyo...) as everyone will have the same car.



So here is the amendment to the Daddy's Cup:
The only car allowed in the Daddy's Cup is a Audi RS6 Avant '08, WITH NO MODIFICATIONS WHATSOEVER, apart from fitting Sport Soft tyres.

I hope everyone is happy about that. What it means in our little story is that Mrs didn't really let you fiddle with the car, "which is way too powerful anyway, we should have bought the diesel one"...

Note: the default power of the car is 582bhp, so don't forget to do an oil change and if you've broken in a bit your car, you'll have to use the power limiter to keep it at 582bhp.




The number of people interested in joining in is increasing and may end up over 15 so please contact me to confirm if you're going to be there. If you're on the starting grid but find out that you can't make it, please let me know as soon as possible so the slot can be freed to someone else.
