While driving a near-stock ZR1 (C6) with just Sport Exhaust I couldn't help but notice an obnoxious resonance around 5500rpm. I haven't experienced this with any other car and I don't experience it with any other exhaust system on this particular car so I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if it's an issue unique to me and my sound system.

The C-6 vette loses the V8 grunt sound as you upgrade the exhaust. It has been an issue. Hopefully the next update fixes it. I'm sure there are cars too.

Well being the Corvette fanatic that I am I have tested my many variations of ZR1s with all the exhausts. I do know what you are talking about. The best sounding exhaust on the ZR1 I have noticed is the semi-racing exhaust. It actually sounds what a tuned ZR1 is supposed to.

Is this with the header and cat? Or just the semi racing muffler?

Am I to understand that this is an issue with the tone of the exhaust itself or with speakers not being able to properly reproduce the tone at that particular rpm (5500) thus producing an off tone?

Edited: Nevermind

I experience the same with the full race exhaust at high rpm. It is with or without my stereo. A friend of mine and my brother get the same thing. I'm going to try what matt said. I put just a sport exhaust and it sounded a bit better the last time I tried changing exhaust.

Currently most all cars sound like crap with anything but the stock or the sports exhaust, notice I said most because there is a few exceptions. Hopefully this update in a couple days does something for this. I am not sure what sounded best but it was either the stock or sports exhaust on the zr1 in the current game version.

Not sure what you have your sound settings turned to in the GT5 options menu but small theater works best for me.

What view are you driving on when you get this resonance? 5500 rpm is turning decent revs and it could very well be the natural resonance that the zr1 has. I get resonance tones when the right exhaust is on and it's very natural to how real cars resonate.

It hadn't occurred to me to change my GT5 sound settings, just my EQ (which yielded no improvements). I'm hearing it most when using the chase cam but the only time I don't hear it is when using the bumper cam (which I hate). I honestly don't think it's an audio problem, as I rarely have any of those with my setup, but I couldn't imagine it was an issue with the car itself either.

Yeah dude go into the sound settings in options IN GT5 and change it to small theater. I've tried large theater and if you race online without a mic on then the mics are just EXTREMELY loud and it also makes you turn your system way up in the volume and then when you change game discs or switch to tv,dvd or cable be prepared to jump because of how loud it's turned up.

Edit

Your signature is killing me right now!!!!!!!! hahahaha

Both of those and the semi racing exhaust. I love that sound actually.👍

Yea that resonance is annoying, it is almost like a droning noise, I also hear it most prominently on the Lambos too when fully tuned.
