ZR1 RM - Awful Car

I don't think its so much people hating it, as a lot of people seem to disproportionately love it, when there are a lot of other options. People recommend buying it and race modding it for this and that race when usually by that point there are prize cars that do the job just as well, for free (try your NASCAR on American events for example)

Seems to me the qualifier is that it's an awesome car IF you RM it and do this and this and this to the tuning, which applies to a ton of other cars too. Also I would have thought a lot of GT-class cars would be better, for a similar price? In fairness though I will buy it and do all the mods, then compare :)
 
I did win the American Championship and Like the Wind pretty easy with it, but I do kinda wish I had saved the money.

I disagree 100% Make sure u max tune it after the RM uppgrade.

I used max downforce and won like the wind with +15 sec.

You gotta google some setups for it. Changes it quite a bit. If you're not happy maybe you expected too much. 700k and it beats damn near every race. FYI when you win the Minolta from like the wind, use it. If you cant win with that car, you should practice.

Not many cars(if at all), at under 1 million credit in game, that you can buy in game early on, can hold a candle to the prototypes when they showed up in A-spec. Even fully tuned. ZR1/Z06 RM can with some good driving and setup. Not saying it is easy all the time, but its doable. I didn't start playing B-spec until I am well into lvl 20+ in A-spec, so Furai simply was not available to me. If I had know maybe I'd have done it differently, but as it was the Vette was a good choice.
 
It's definitely not the best car out there but it sure is worth every penny. The looks of it are brutal, and with a little fine tuning it's a beast for relatively little money.

I bought a XJR-9 LM for "Like the Wind" though, just thought it wouldn't hurt to buy a legendary race car, and after weeks of buying it I still don't regret it.
 
The ZR1 is a great car. RM, fully tuned, kicks butt. But it's not gonna beat fully tuned LMP cars. (plus, you can paint the front of it)

The ZR-1 is a brilliant car, in real life it made bits of the GT-Rs record on the 'Ring and it wasn't even that clean a lap.

Plus, they look awesome.


My ZR-1 won like the wind races with ease buy well over 10 decode and also was easily able to win the GT All-stars.

The car has alot of grip and can be setup very well to be well capable of over 900bhp when fully modded.

I completely disagree. It's one of my favorite cars.
 
I was online an hour ago, and I raced a guy with a ZR1 RM, I used my 787B, the Vette wasn't as grippy as mine, or fast, but it looked pretty damn good and it stayed a close race.
 
Uhh. I bought the ZR-1 to do like the wind. Tuned it and winning was a piece of cake. To all of you having problems....the problem is not the car...it's you. Here are your options.

1 - Learn to Tune
2 - Learn to Drive
3 - Go play Need for Speed

Your comparing a group C monster car to a LM spec GT race car. The fact it stayed close speaks volumes about the ZR1.

Agreed, except that Corvettes are some of the ugliest cars on the game. :yuck:
 
ZR1-RM is definitely one of the best cars in my garage. If you tune it up, it is an Absolute beast and handles like its on rails.

I'm amazed with it everytime I race with it!!
 
I hate my corvette. Probably because I did so much grinding with it at Indy. However, I would have to disagree with anyone who says the car is slow. I don't know of any cars that can beat it except for LMP cars and better.
 
Its probably the best and fastest american car in the game (fully tunned) - its my grinding car -not only but also.
 
To the Guys that like it perhaps you can post your suspension settings, and downforce settings.

As I fry every gear including 4th even when I max out the gears almost, 112kg torque :P its very powerful I give u that, but it has no grip.
 
From what I've seen and experienced, the fully upgraded RM ZR1 overall is hands down the best car in the game for under $3,000,000.

Well after a lot of recommendation I bought the ZR1 and RM'd it. I have tried it on 'like the wind' and GT Allstars. Its absolutely awful, its extremely slow compared to my GT-R and handles a lot worse. So the credits i was saving for a PROPER race car i have now wasted. Well looks like a few more pointless races to win the 800k I have just blown.

Lol I rip like the wind like nothing in the RM ZR1. Takes the corners at 330 KM/HR no probs and tops out by itself at almost 380
 
It's a fantastic car when tuned and driven properly. Obviously you wouldn't drive it the same way you would drive a GTR so comparing it to one really doesn't seem right.
 
I hate the car as well. But for different reasons.

1. It sounds like crap (in the game)
2. Its ridiculously fast
3. It handles great.

The last two may not make sense but to me it does. Why would you want a ridiculously fast car that handles really good in this game? Seriously. Its so freakin boring driving that car. Give me a challenge, driving it almost feels like Im playing NFS just because its so fast and easy to drive. I'll take a 300 hp car that is a tough car to drive any day.

Plus even in the game, the interior is garbage.

edit: The Ford GT craps all over it. Beautiful inside and out, great sounding car, very powerful, and is a challenge to drive, yet isn't unbearable.

Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II (Prize car, FREE)
Engine Tuning (30,000)
Supercharger (17,500)

Total cost: 47,500

Result: The GT LM Race Car smokes the ZR1 RM
 
Max downforce, gear to 330 kph and it's wicked, if you gear it to high it becomes harder to drive , sounds strange but i've played around with it a bit and found if it is geared high you get a lot of wheelspin and the back tries to overtake the front but when it is geared down it runs out of revs before this can happen. try it :sly:
 
The zr1 does not suck, I can race nurburgring easily, when I play online I can take almost any car with that beast, make sure you get it up to 905hp and then mess with the settings a bit, can't remember what my settings are right now lol
 
Here is the problem, people are dumb. 1st you go and buy the zr1 then they go right to buying all the parts then go do the Racing Modification. GT5 decides to mess with you but taking off all the mods you've done to it bringing it back to stock. Check your tuning section to ensure you still have all the parts installed.

The zr1 is probably one of the most used cars in my inventory for a reason. Its brilliant!

FYI: GOTO Chevy dealer... watch closely... YOU SHOULD BUY the [ZR1 2009 model] version and RM it then goto the shop check/buy all available upgrade... you'll total up 848HP afer buying all the upgrades.. THEN Race it... notice the HP will go up... after 10 races change oil... you now get 905HP.

YES, I "USED TO" have the same comment as the OP...
Why??

I bought the wrong car. I bought the "Yellow" car.
WRONG one!!! when you RM it and add all the trimmings you get a total of 836HP...[after addding all the trimmings and after racing it... meaning the final total HP should be 905HP.
To the OP: I suggest you double check your car/purchase.
there's a possibility you bought the 2006 model.

NOTICE: These two cars look very very much much alike after RMed.
Hint: WRONG CAR: is yellow color in stock.
RIGHT CAR: BLUE one in the NEW car (Chevy Dealer)

This car sooooo fast that it out runned the Minolta in Like the Wind.

[ERrr.. an off topic] I have a TIP: Use a Nascar on American Challenge is easier than ANY car... if you're planning on farming for credits.
NASCAR, turn every driver assists especialy ASM, traction control. Why a NASCAR can outrun Minoltas/Lemans???... Without all driving assists, traction kills speed as you turn your car... your speed drops.. so turning htem all off... When you turn on corners... you loose lesser speed.well as every car "Brakes" on corners.. you'll pass them cars after the first lap's 2nd corner turn. My fastest time after 5 laps is 3.51.150.

My Comment: USING the right CAR at right track/race = 100% win.

The car is a total animal, I hated it for the longest time when I first bought it and RM'd too, but now I love it, It's very nice, it's an FR car and all the people who are comparing it to the GT-R's and the other 4WD cars saying it handles like crap, you are making the same mistake I did, you are changing from a 4WD car with tons of HP to a FR car with tons of HP, of course it handles differently.

You can't say it's awful, because it isn't.. It's just you. It's like saying Tom Brady sucks because you don't like him or the Patriots, he doesn't suck, you just don't like him. (BTW - I am not a Pats fan in any way, just thought I would use that comparison)

So it's totally legit to say you don't like it, but it's far from awful.
