ZR1 RM - Awful Car

Nice challenge... reminds me of trying to beat the LMP's in DTM cars back in GT4.

Got punted by the AI in the 2nd corner at Trail Mountain, the R8 got past me and I couldn't get him back. 2nd

Won comfortably at Grand Valley and Nurburgring.

Won at Cape Ring, but only after a long battle with the C9... I made a mistake on lap one and lost 3s. Took me 3 laps to catch him back up but eventually passed him in the loop and pulled away to win by 2s.

Only manged 7th at Tokyo... this one might not be possible to win in the Vette without some major blocking as the straights are too long to prevent the superior power of the LMP cars blasting them past.

Corvette ZR1 (C6) RM '09, racing softs, no power upgrades (681bhp, 1,100kg), ABS 1, no other assists, G27, tune provided by jorday here... https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=145198&page=3

Driver or tune? Bit of both I reckon :)
Driver, not the tune. I'm going to have to try it after my Suzuka enduro b-spec is over, but that's at least 95% driver there.

My ZR1 was terrible too, then i noticed the race soft tyres weren't equipped... needless to say made a huge difference!

This is a great point doublecheck the tires in the screen right before you start the race I bet those having trouble do not have racing softs selected. This has bitten me a few times.

Also the racemod new Camaro works great in the american/indy race if you get bored killing em with the vette.

Well looks like I'll have to get the ZR1 then. This game isn't accurate at all. They give the ZR1 downforce with RM but the Viper ACR that stock in real life has 1000lb ft of down force has non? Wth is that.

Also the ACR should have an RM mode if the ZR1 has one as in real lift there is an ACRX which is a real RM of the ACR. I use the ACR at Daytona in BSpec and because they didn't include it's real life downforce capabilities my idiot Bob brakes in turns to about 20-30mph slower than the competition even though it obliterated them on the straights. I got a 6sec lead with the ACR at Daytona before in B Spec just to watch my idiot give away the lead with the stupid braking and mysterious stabs of the brake pedal even on the straights. Oh well off to earn some dough for the ZR1 beast.

Btw in real life the ACR made mince meat out of both the ZR1 and GTR on the roadcources. Too bad its real life performance didn't make it to GT5. Gallardo as well.

I feel like such a duffus.. Ive been playing this game for a few weeks now and have pretty high levels in B-Spec and A spec but I just found where the aerodynamics is on the cars :O

Speaking of the proper tires. I went into an online race last night in a Minolta and everyone left me off the line. At first I though TCS=0 but still slow an loosing grip even if 4th gear. Then I remembered I let Bob drive it to break it in and it was equipped with Comfort Soft tires. Needless to say Comfort Soft is way off the pace when everyone else is using Race Soft.

ZR-1 can be replaced by a prize won Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II for the Indy credit grind. Cheaper, easier to handle and u dont need to buy any upgrades, just sticky tires!

Most overrated car in game and real life. So it can win like the wind, my 458 italia did that for me. Plus I didn't have to look at or drive a corvette.

Cool story, but your wrong kthxs.

I also really enjoyed the ZR1 RM, it's a great car and I'm not even American. ;)
It took me some time to find the right tune for me, but then I was able to win every race in the GT All Stars (only second on Cape Ring, still need to get to know the track better I guess). I really like it's handling: With the right tune I got it to get some nice oversteer, which stays very controllable from the huge downforce. Only problem is that it was really a tyre burner, at least for me.

Wow. I was stunned when I read the title of this post. Using a stock ZR1 RM (no additional tuning at all, even suspension settings) with soft racing tires, I did a 6:20 around the Nurburgring on my first attempt. And it was the easiest 6:20 I've ever done. This is car is quite simply one of the easiest race cars to drive.

I love my ZR1, it's the best purchase I've made in the whole game actually. I just race modded it and put the remaining upgrades. It did not get to 800k difinitely with all the mods and including the car, and it has won me much more. Beat the american races, like the wind, and the all star series with it, just with a small basic tune I came up with. Even without the tune, I would have probably won, this car is just awesome, and I usually don't like american cars very much.

Would OP care to come back here, and say whether he has tried any of the fixes for his problem?

It seems all too obvious that he just ditched a GREAT car...

I'm saving credits for a RM for my Corvette ZR1...

Well after a lot of recommendation I bought the ZR1 and RM'd it. I have tried it on 'like the wind' and GT Allstars. Its absolutely awful, its extremely slow compared to my GT-R and handles a lot worse. So the credits i was saving for a PROPER race car i have now wasted. Well looks like a few more pointless races to win the 800k I have just blown.

before unlocking the American Championship, i used Like The Wind to grind credits, and never lost in the ZR1.

i wouldn't even consider taking it into the GT All Stars, though.
its the same type of opponents, but Like The Wind is more open tracks... on the tracks in the GT All Stars race, you're not gonna have any production vehicle beat those Group C race cars. just like taking the Formula Gran Turismo (a fantasy F1 car) into the GT All Stars is a cakewalk.

they're on different levels.
the ZR1 dominates cars in its class.

If by class you mean American supercars, then yeah, it's probably the best though I do rather like the Ford GT too. My point earlier is that for races with other regulations there are many alternatives, both in GT and "real life". I guess it just seems funny how with the Vette so many people say it's awesome IF you do this and this and this to it.

I like Vettes in real life too, in the UK they are probably the greatest supercar bang or your buck around (especially as there is no Esprit currently in production, and TVR have gone). The build quality though is like Tamiya built it. I guess that's a relatively light US car for you :)

by "class", i mean production cars turned race cars.
SuperGT cars, DTM cars, etc. i've never lost a race in the ZR1 against cars it has a legit shot of beating, of which the Group C race cars are not. put it against any GT-R race car, M3 race car, SLS race car, etc, and the Vette ZR1 RM will eat it alive.

(the new Ford GT is my favorite car of all time. it's got the slickest lines i've ever seen...)

Top 3 car in my garage right now. No way shape or form an "awful" car. D all the mods finish up the break in period and you'll be living it.

ABT Audi TT DTM is another stellar car. Been rocking that lately. Minolta, 787b and ZR1 RM are my three top cars so far. Wicked fast and grip is surreal.

You should learn to drive it then because it is a noobcar... it steers a lot, it runs like hell at straights, what else do you want?

All I can say is, I love the ZR1 RM. You just can't drive. Keep to the driving line.

I like it too.
You can drift it very easy and on the same page you can race it hard and fast.
Play a bit with the settings and it is a good Car. Almost as fast as the Group C cars (like the wind), handles not as wicked as the Minolta for example.

use the RKM tune, ZR1 RM is awesome with it

I have used the rkm tune... Its still dreadful. The back end wont stay still and it isnt anywhere near the standard of the 'like the wind' cars... On the corners of indy i have to slow down waaaaay too much that basically lets the other 11 cars fly past me!

Ill give it another try tomorrow, failing that im willing to swap with someone? Ill stick to grinding credits with my max'd gt-r...

My Enzo, Gallardo, McLaren and Viper ACR all handled like crap too before I tuned them. Its not just the ZR-1.

Fully upgraded the ZR-1 RM gives 905hp at 1100Kg weight. Sail IC's tune

Downforce: 35/53
Transm.: 360 km/h (380 at Nordschliefe)
Initial torque: 10
Acc sens: 20
Brake sens: 10
Ride h: 5/5 (35/35 at Nordschleife)
Spring: 16.6/14.4
Damp ext 9/7
Damp comp: 9/7
Anti RB: 3/5
Camber: 2/1.5
Toe: 0/-0.30
Brakes: 5/7

Take these numbers and plug them into your ZR-1. You won't lose, if you do lose with this tune it's your fault and not the cars. I and many others have won with it and I don't even consider myself to be a great driver. Plus I did it with a DS3.

I think the RM ZR1 is awesome.

I think the RM ZR1 is awesome.

I do too. I the like the wind race I spun out twice and still managed to win by a 2 second margin

Anyone want to give me an early xmas pressie, and post some of their setups for this car?.

Thanks

AA

What's the difference between fully tuned vs fully tuned RM?

I don't know, I didn't tune after the RM I tuned it before the RM what can you do different after it is RM'ed?
So I am guessing this car can be made even more bad ass?

Edit: So I"m going to go back and look at this car when I get home. I fully upgraded everything and then did the RM so what I am hearing is that I wasted my money doing the mods before the Race Modification.

Funny really because I don't remember going back and adding more parts and everytime I get in that car I wax the whole grid, if it can be made faster than I can't wait to boot up GT5.👍

Do you mean upgrade/mods or actually tuning the car? You should always RM your car before purchasing upgrades, because the RM includes some upgrades. If you upgrade everything first and them RM your car you're just wasting money. Plus, if you RM your car after installing all the upgrades, it will uninstall all the upgrades that don't come with the RM. So you will then have to go back and re-install them, NOT repurchase them.
