Forza Horizon 5 10th Anniversary Update to Feature in Forza Monthly on October 6

With the tenth anniversary of the Forza Horizon series coming up fast, Playground Games will reveal more about its plans for a month-long celebration in Forza Horizon 5 during this week’s Forza Monthly/Let’s Go shows.

The first Forza Horizon launched on October 23, 2012 (although gamers in PG’s native patch had to wait until October 26), which means that the upcoming Series 13 will run across that tenth anniversary date. PG already teased that it had something special lined up, and players have been on tenterhooks waiting to find out what it is.

This month’s Forza Monthly, and the subsequent FH5-dedicated “Let’s Go” episode, should give us the full rundown on the update and the four weeks of 10th Anniversary shenanigans, ahead of the scheduled start date of October 13. Forza Monthly will start at 1600UTC on October 6, with Let’s Go an hour later.

We do already have some details though, both in the previous teaser and the chosen thumbnails for the videos.

As part of last month’s early teaser, PG revealed that there’ll be a new Horizon Story during the month, looking at the history of Horizon itself. Further nostalgia will come from a new radio station playing favorite tracks from previous titles.

The “Midnight Battles” feature, which has since evolved into the slightly different “Street Scene”, is slated for a return from FH3 — where it was already a mild throwback to Star Showdowns in FH1.

PG’s chosen thumbnail for the Monthly show appears to reveal a special Forza Edition variant of the 2013 Viper GTS, which appeared as the first game’s cover car in standard form.

The standard Koenigsegg Agera 2011, which has yet to appear in FH5 but was in all previous Horizon titles, also looks set to appear judging by the Let’s Go thumbnail. That rather hints at a suite of cars returning from previous titles in the update, although we’d expect at least one or two new-to-series vehicles too.

You’ll be able to catch the streams in the videos here, or on the Forza YouTube and Twitch channels, starting at 1600 UTC on Thursday October 6.

Update: The official Forza Horizon Twitter account has since posted a teaser Tweet, in the style of the infrequently used “Torben Tuesday” posts. There’s doubtless a lot of clues to the upcoming content in the image (although we expect Mr. Bean to not be one of them), which the GTPlanet community is currently picking through!
