Forza Horizon 6 Confirmed for 2026 Launch: Will Be Set in Japan, PS5 Version to Follow

The very worst-kept secret in all of the racing game sphere has now emerged into the public domain: Forza Horizon 6 is coming in 2026, and will be set in Japan.

In what looks like a bit of a time zone error, one of the official social media channels for the game let the maneki-neko out of the bag with a 15-second trailer posted to Instagram — which has since been removed — ahead of what was an expected reveal at the Tokyo Games Show today.

Update (25/09): As expected, the game has been announced at TGS, with a longer version of the same video now made available and posted above.

The short video is jam-packed with detail, starting with some props and references to Forza Horizon 5’s Mexico setting. After panning across some license plates from Europe — referencing FH2 — we start to see a lot of Japanese imagery before it tilts up to a view of Japan’s most famous volcano, Fuji.

This video also confirms that the game will be titled Forza Horizon 6, and is coming in 2026, while the text on the post states “The Horizon Festival is heading to Japan”.

Of course this only really confirms the setting and the broad strokes of when the game will be available. There’s no precise information on the launch date — though we’d assume late in the year — or any of the content or features.

Update (25/09): It’s now been confirmed that the game will launch on XBox Series consoles and PC, with a PS5 version to follow “post-launch”.

Previous Horizon games have used stylized and fictional versions of the real locations, with an approximate layout and landmarks from the relevant areas in order to provide a quick way to sample the setting on a compressed basis. While we expect that to carry over into FH6, we don’t yet have any specific details, nor a size for the map itself.

Update (25/09): Tokyo has been confirmed as a location for the game, while our forum users have also noted that the location shown in the trailer is Fujikawaguchiko, overlooking Lake Kawaguchi.

There’s still a lot more to come then, and the actual presentation at TGS is due quite soon — so watch this space!
