Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Xiaomi the Money

We’re just about at the end of January now, and right on cue the final set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges for the month, starring some of the new game content in the 1.67 update, are now available to players as their console clocks roll past midnight and into Friday morning.

Weekly Challenges, introduced way back in November 2023, is a special bonus event available to players who’ve finished the main GT Cafe mode. It features five different challenges each week, four of which are standard race events from World Circuits. A fifth Special Event, created just for the week, may be a race, or a time trial or mission-type challenge.

You’ll have seven days to complete the five challenges to earn the bonus rewards, offering a little extra incentive to complete some of the races you may have missed in the Cafe or engage with new content and races introduced in recent updates.

Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges – January Week 5 Events

Sunday Cup – Willow Springs

A quick blast at Willow Springs is up first, in a race that takes less time than typing out the full course name. “Willow Springs International Raceway: Streets of Willow Springs Reverse” is quite the mouthful, and thankfully the Weekly Challenges UI has changed to crop the name. It’s a two-lap race of this unfamiliar layout (and one of few real-world reverse tracks in the game) requiring only that you use a Road car for a 25,000cr winner’s prize.

European Clubman Cup 600 – Suzuka Circuit

There’s a few more credits up in the European Clubman Cup 600 race at Suzuka Circuit, but it does reflect the hard time you’ll have over the three laps against a couple of the AI — and one in particular… As the name hints, you’ll need a Road car from any European brand, but the “600” portion is merely a suggested Performance Point (PP) value for a kind-of fair race against the AI even if the Giulia hasn’t read the rules. There’s 60,000cr available for victory.

Special Event – Deep Forest

Two events award 90,000cr for taking the win this week, and you can use the same car in both to good effect. The first is this seven-lap race at Deep Forest exclusively for the new Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. It looks like the AI field is entirely in standard specification — even down to the racing parts — but it’s not much of a struggle if you remember to have an “Overtake” button mapped as the AI never use it and the 25hp bump it brings.

Hypercar Parade – Circuit de Sainte-Croix

We’re heading over to Circuit de Sainte-Croix for the second week in a row and again to the long C layout for this event in the Hypercar Parade. The only limitation here is that you use a Road car, so you can whip out anything you like in this class even if it’s an absurd VGT classed as a road machine. The 1,525hp Xiaomi is a good bet too, but watch out for some of the fiercer cars here, especially on the long straight at the far end of the course. As above, there’s 90,000cr for the win.

World Touring Car 800 – Mount Panorama

The regular WTC event sits in the final slot, and this week’s is the brand-new WTC800 challenge at Mount Panorama. As usual, you’re able to use any car on Racing tires so long as it fits within the hard 800PP limit, and the AI field exclusively uses Gr.3 cars so dress accordingly. This is a race for the tire whisperers, as the gentle tire wear multiplier makes a no-stopper relatively doable, with 200,000cr up for victory.

In addition to the prize money from the events themselves, Weekly Challenges also offer up bonus rewards that increase in value as you complete more of the set. These vary each week, but in all cases are sent as tickets to your Garage’s Gifts section, from where you’ll to need to redeem them before they expire.

This week’s rewards are back to the most common line-up that we see, comprising credit tickets only. Regulars will know what to expect here: a 100,000cr ticket for completing any one event; a 200,000cr ticket for finishing any three; and a 500,000cr ticket when you clear the whole set.

In order to have access to the Weekly Challenges you’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie. The events update at midnight local time on Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set of the new-look events on the morning of Friday February 6.
