In Pursuit of Realism: Mixed Reality Nordschleife Lap Reproduction

One reality against another – that is exactly how we could describe this latest split-screen comparison video, meticulously prepared by Youtube user Marcel Pfister. His Mixed Reality gameplay and tutorial videos (previously highlighted here and here) show off the advantages of owning an Oculus Rift VR headset, a device that could soon change the experience of playing a video game tremendously, driving games in particular. Just look at the level of immersion, all without going far from your sofa!

The procedure is the same as before, although a run on the track in Assetto Corsa was put in a blender together with real life video footage, surprisingly almost identical to the game run. Take a tour around Green Hell by Caterham, with Marcel as the able pilot, where the only real tell-tale difference is the lack of cabin shake.

Thanks again to Marcel for sending us another awesome video!

Friends? That’s how it was done? I am scratching my head… the emergency vehicle and other car on the side of the road as well?

MultiPerson participation aside… this VR tech stuff is awesome.

Saw this a few days ago. Tremendous work. Really shows how far Sims have come in the last few years. Kudos to Marcel for the time and effort put into this

Needed a few friends to drive similar cars in real Life for the real video footage, and then for them to also Drive similar cars in AC, just like they did for real..

I guess if you made the drive for Real, you’d be able to almost duplicate it the same way in AC.

At first I was puzzled How he got similar cars to Appear almost the same place in the AC videos.. But then Figure it was friends driving in AC.

A lot of Planning, And good Friends.
And a Lot of time, more time than I could come up with in a year!
