What Mystery Wheel is Fanatec Teasing?

Fanatec’s got a new sim racing accessory in the works, and we could be seeing it sooner rather than later.

CEO Thomas Jackermeier shared the above jumbled image on the official site earlier today. In the top left, the CSL branding is just barely visible. This suggests that the product won’t be a part of the new high-end Podium series.

From what we can see, it looks like a new wheel add-on that will fit into the expansive current Fanatec ecosystem. There’s a rotary dial and plenty of faux carbon fiber visible, suggesting a more race-oriented item.

That goes hand in hand with the quote at the bottom of the image. “There is no finish line” isn’t just a Nike slogan; Jackermeier pointed out it’s a quote from a famous sports personality too.

Our friends at Inside Sim Racing have said that the wheel will be available on the Fanatec website next weekend. Yes, that means Black Friday: in fact, ISR states that will be the only time the new item will be available in 2017. Meanwhile, shipments are earmarked for early 2018.

With the big shopping date drawing ever closer, we’re very curious to see what Fanatec has up its sleeves. We’re big fans of the company’s existing CSL Elite wheel, so another option for that multi-platform base would be most welcome. Stay tuned for more details.
