Model Photography Competition Archive

The model competition has been around for 60 weeks now, one thing which occurred to me was that we currently don't have an archive for the competitions in a similar fashion to how the GT4 Photo mode has (or used to have) archives for all of its competitions. I think this is a good idea, as a winner of the model competition I know how hard it can be to pick themes I figured this would also serve as a way for people to see what has and hasn't been done before whilst also checking the thread for perhaps inspiration.

So here we go 60 weeks worth of stuff and hopefully many more weeks will follow. Also a Automotive Competition Archive is on its way but that will probably take a little longer due to it changing ownership on a regular basis at the beginning of its life cycle.

Sweet. Thanks yous, as always. However! GPR is tied with my Jota for most wins by a model, I believe. My Jota has never lost. I'm hoping to keep it that way, thus I never use it. Heh.

Really nice photography....i think most of the effects that you have used photographers use for the wedding albums, but its looking cool.

There are a great many specific problems that you encounter taking photographs of models that you wouldn't in other situations. Anyway, these are from a few years ago now. I'm sure the people would thank you for complimenting their shots though (myself included).

Hullo there, photographers. It's been a long while since I ran the Automotive and Model photography challenges every week...but I'm actually considering resurrecting one of them. I'm leaning towards revisiting the Model competition - as it was always the most enjoyable to put on for me.

Of course, I'd like to know if there was any interest in this of course. I wouldn't ask anyone to commit to doing it all the time or something, but it would be nice to know if anyone considers this a good idea haha. Cheers!

With that said, however, a number of interest has to be first amassed. Maybe somebody can do a little bit of advertising at the several model car threads about this, if the mods permit? Maybe the rules also need to be amended (for instance, pics that were shown publicly before but haven't participated in the competition should be allowed? Or maybe artistic shots should be allowed?), 1/64 cars should be allowed (i.e. if they weren't before), and the competition might need to be held on a bi-weekly basis or even longer to allow more people with interest to participate.

@AOS- and @Bram Turismo (or those who own both a camera and model cars), you guys have probably seen this before, but would you be interested in joining this competition if it was revived?

And yes, I know I just revived a thread that has been inactive for almost a whole year.

I'm glad there is a little bit of enthusiasm for this idea (even if it took a year to gather! ). The more participation the merrier, even if we only see the same model every week, it's all about the creativity in execution.

I don't think the mods would have a problem with some cross-pollination-advertising with the scale model threads, as it is on topic after all.

There was a rule about it being unposted work, but I don't have a problem eliminating that. Opening up the rules would be fine too, though there wasn't that many. We restricted the amount of editing because it made things easier on people, and because we didn't want those with great editing skills to have an advantage.

1/64th scale cars were always allowed (any scale was), some weeks even had a theme specifying smaller cars to be used. It's just usually the larger scale cars won in the other weeks.

Bi-weekly, monthly, it's all good. I find that the longer it goes, people tend to forget it exists. Perhaps that's where the advertisement between threads could be a benefit.
