Analog mode on TH8 (to emulate handbrake) is great with Dirt 3 and fantastical with Richard Burns Rally đź‘Ť

New to RBR on the PC (I had the XBox version when it first came out, was way too hard) and totally agree with the statement above. Some of the stages, hand brake is not a nice to have, it's a requirement.

Found also your RBR vid in H-Mode:

I had a bash with the shifter on CARS...and now I'm very excited about including it with my Forza and GT5 sessions ;) it's such an awesome piece of kit (as everyone on the thread already knows)

Finally, Derek Speare made some H Pattern Gate Plates for the Thrustmaster TH8 RS Shifter!
"If you have Thrustmaster's TH8 RS H-Pattern shifter, you can complement with a set of my gate plates. If you have a 4, 5 or 6 speed car of your choice, you can enhance the realism and feel with the right gate plate.

Each plate is precision laser cut from 1/8" ABS and will fit your shifter nicely (use washers from underneath as spacers). The plates are designed to keep you from having to recalibrate each time you change them as the positions are shared. Simple!"

Price is 33,75 USD - Free shipping worldwide!

For me, an instant buy! Very nice work Derek! :)
And very fast shipping - mine will be ship to me this afternoon and I already got the tracking info only 10 minutes after I ordered my gate plates! :)

Does he have any for the Hand Brake action? That would be sweet.

WHAT IS THIS HANDBRAKE ACTION YOU SPEAK OF?
EDIT: nevermind, I found it.

With Derek's new plates and the interfaceone module, that TH8 RS Shifter sounds enticing...then there's the close-to-$300 pricetag for everything.

I paid 54$ to $100 more. For the th8. They could charge a premium when it came out 5 months ago and it was out of stock and people had to order and wait for months. I guess to be one of the first to have it and couldn't wait to play with it made it worth it. *And as with most tech the longer you wait the cheaper they get.*

Carson79, that Sparco Knob looks sweet. Would love to have it as well, but sadly it doesn't look like they ship to Europe. :grumpy: Do you happen to know if I can get hold of it over here?

By the way, how do you know if a certain knob will fit the shaft of the TH8? I tried the knob from my real Toyota Yaris  but it didn't fit.

Will these knobs fit the TH8 shaft?

Those should all fit since they are aftermarket meant to fit almost any car. The way these work is by tightening 3 small screws that clamp onto the shaft, over the original threading. Also the knobs should state the size of shaft they fit and surely the TH8 will almost certainly fall in the range of fitment for just about any knob on the market.

The TH8 shaft is an oddball size. Trust me it is a mix between a M8 and M9. There is no custom knob going to thread right to it. If you order an aftermarket knob make sure it states "Universal fit". Theses will have shims to cover the shaft threads. They also make up for the inside diameter of the knob.
Oh, and they look and work fabulous!

Like Vince said, you need to make sure its universal fit. Sorry to hear they don't ship to Europe. Mine got to me next Day and is looking great. Plus a brilliant fit. I'd a momo knob which was shorter and came loose...long story short it was no good on the TH8. But the longer one that sit's down the shaft is a great job. Google Sparco Knobs in your local area if that fails then try the states i'm sure theirs a company that will ship from there đź‘Ť

Found it on Amazon (doh!).

I suppose that one will fit just as well as your chrome, Carson79? They do fit just as well as the default knob that comes with the TH8RS, right?
It's not exactly cheap by the way. Wondering if I should get a different knob from my local shop instead, at about $25.

And now for something completely different...
Using the TH8RS as a handbrake, is that only possible on PC, or is it possible on PS3 as well? If so, what will I have to do to make it work?

Its not cheap but well worth the money...... And it fits like a glove

Carson, did you ever find a solution for the tension screw becoming loose after a while, and whether or not it can be replaced from a screw from the hardware store?

I never got round to it......New job and started building the new rig. But I will get it sorted tomorrow. at the finishing stages now and I'll probably try sticking the screw in place. Don't want to tighten it every time I use it. Because it is mounted in the rig. Never heard back from Amazon either.

And I just saw your 7th gear block off using CD/DVD cut out.

It is brilliant. I just did it on mine. Thanks! đź‘Ť :D đź‘Ť

My question is why the glove? Hiding something? You paint your nails don't you. ;)

I am kidding around. Excellent mod. Cheap and effective!
