Chapter V - JoeOfTheFire (Jaguar) / Snowcrash (Corvette) / Team Jaguar Champions

For the final time on GRAN TURISMO 5, the WSC will take to the track. Despite this being a showpiece finale of a season, there are still changes to keep things fresh!

Lamborghini join GT instead with an entry level Miura, this beautiful Italian exotic is sure to be a force to be reckoned with. Speaking of Italian, Monza swaps with Eiger and the final running of the Toscana Grand Prix will also keep petrolheads at full throttle. Le Mans, Nurburgring, Daytona, and Spa retain endurance status, with the 8th running of the Le Mans Classic sure to be a highlight. Laguna Seca however disappears laving the season opening Rolex as the only fly away round in the WSC.

On a rules side - points now for fastest lap will ensure drivers are giving it there all and as ever one dropped score, which will be factored in post Eiger. It's going to be a thrilling final journey, join us for it, in WSC VI!

Rules & Regulations

~Races Are Sundays~

~Grip Reduction is set to Real~

~Damage is HEAVY~

~All driving aids except ABS at 1 are disallowed.~

~Draft is Weak~

~Timetable will be as follows: 7pm BST Race Room Opens, Free Practise. 7.30pm - Technical Checks/ GT Qualifying for 15mins. 7.45pm PT Qualifying / 8.00pm Race Start.

~All race's barring LE MANS are run with a pace lap. The field paces around at a given speed single file until a call is given over mic to start forming up in a 2x2 formation with at least approximately one and a half to two car lengths between rows. Prototype cars may accelerate to a higher speed to seperate themselves from GT runners at this point.
The leader is allowed to accelerate and take the green any time from pit entry to the start stripe, from then the race is started for the whole field.~

~If a start is not formed in a satisfactory manner then it may called off and another lap will be done under pace speed.~

~Penalties are off.~

~Fuel Use and Tyre Wear is on NORMAL.~

~The WSC Points system will be as follows *10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1* for class results. If you DC or DNF before the 2/3rds mark of the race distance, then you will get half points for your position. If you do not make 2/3rds distance but are still in a spot to get points, you will receive half points.~

~1 Point is awarded for class pole position.

~1 Point is awarded for class fastest race lap.

~At LEAST 1 Pit stop is mandatory during the event.

~In event of a mass disconnection wiping out the majority of the field, note will be taken of the completed race distance. If the race is over 2/3rd complete then race is called and full points shall be awarded. If race is under 2/3rds complete, it shall be restarted with the amount of laps to go - so if during 56 laps of Monza a DC occurs on lap 26, there will be a restart with 29 to go, with 1 of those laps another warm up lap.~

~Drivers who have DC'd before the Red Flag will be allowed to re start, but only at the amount of laps they have done. For example, if I DC'd lap 11 in the event (having completed 10 laps), then I would be considered 17 laps down at the re-start.~

~Foul language in the lobby and / or other negative conduct will result in points deductions and bans.~

~You are generally NOT allowed to swap cars during the course of the season in class. However it is fine to show up in a Prototype one race, and GT car another.~

~Mics are on for drivers to talk and relay information to one another~

Classes & Car Specifications

~PROTOTYPE Category (PT)~
PT cars are the loudest, fastest, and most powerful monsters of the WSC. Cars in PT are restricted to only SPORT SOFT tyre compound and RACING RAIN in changeable weather events. PP limiting must be carried by the power limiter ONLY.

Ferrari 330 P4

The Ferraris all round ability is excellent, with great straight line speed and when the sweet spot is found in the setup it's arguably the best car in the field. Can you tame it? (Neljack, WSC Ferrari Veteran)

Runs at 6XXpp (with max aero)

Ford MK IV

The most stable prototype in the field, easy to get competitive times due to the cars gearing. Similar top speeds to the Jaguar but slower to the Ferrari. The Mk IV is the car to get constant results. (GTPanoz, Top-placed Ford driver in WSC IV)
Runs at 610pp.

Jaguar XJ13

"The Jaguar XJ13 drives like no other sports car of its generation. Once the initial braking phase understeer is over with the XJ13 turns with accuracy and most importantly predictability and the throttle response is electric with fantastic acceleration even if the Jag lacks a little top end." (PluxTheDuck, 2 podiums in 3 starts in WSC IV)

Runs at 600pp.

GRAND TOURING Category (GT)
GT is for near stock GT and Touring Cars and as a result has some very close competition with driver skill truly showing through. Cars in GT are restricted to only SPORT MEDIUM tyre compound and RACING RAIN in changeable weather events. PP limiting must be carried by the power limiter ONLY with no additional ballast allowed. HP/Weight is approximate and may vary slightly depending on the car break in and condition. The PP value is what is set in rooms.

AC Cobra 289

A monster in a small package, the AC Cobra pulls with monumental ferocity. In the midrange, the Cobra stands above most others. Acceleration is the Cobra’s greatest strength, but in the corners it also holds up quite well. The Cobra has good steering, though grip is below average, so be careful on exit. (SagarisGTB, 2-time GT class winner, drove a Cobra in WSC III)

458pp. Allowed Tuning: Customisable Gearbox.

Alpine A110

Superbly light and nimble but not for the faint hearted. It handles in classic RR style and requires some deft throttle work to maximise it's potential, but is monstrously fast once mastered. Decent at the top end despite the power disadvantage, though lack of traction and torque hurts it on exit, momentum is your friend. (Marunda, WSC Official Test Driver)

470pp. Allowed Tuning: Customisable Gearbox, Engine Stage 2, Sports Intake Manifold, Racing Air Filter.

Chevrolet Camaro Z28

The Camaro, Chevy's answer to the Mustang. It dominated the Trans Am series in 1967 and 1968 with Mark Donohue at wheel. Ran by RWM in C2 and GT class S1 WSC. Now, you can have this great opportunity to drive the 1969 Camaro Z28 in WSC VI! (Ranhammer, ex-Camaro driver)

460pp. Allowed Tuning: Customisable Gearbox, Sports ECU.

Chevrolet Corvette C3

The Corvette C3 is forgiving as it is slow. It has semi-neutral driving characteristics that in a long endurance race do not tire the driver. It does take some time to get up to speed and is not the fastest car in the field but is an excellent car in the wet and is reasonably OK on fuel. (FlyingFox, Corvette driver for last three seasons)

457pp. Allowed Tuning: Customisable Gearbox, Sports ECU.

Jaguar E Type Lightweight

The Jaguar E-Type Lightweight is as much a challenge as it is a pleasure to drive. The iconic sound is music to the drivers ears. Great fun but not so great on the brakes, or the corners. It's the reigning winner of the Le Mans Classic so watch out for it there this season. (RaceO'Rama, Jaguar driver in WSC III)

455pp. Allowed Tuning: Customisable Gearbox, Fixed Sports Suspension, Weight Reduction Stage 3, Window Weight Reduction.

Lamborghini Miura

Lamborghini venture into WSC with a detuned Miura. The Miura has a cutting edge chassis yet does lack on little power. However, with it being a detuned version of the 320hp+ full road version, there is still a lot of potential under the hood. (Furinkazen, Lamborghini tester)

440pp.

Lancia Stratos

Lancia's Stratos cut its teeth on the rallying circuit, lightweight, nimble and devastatingly fast. These qualities also make it an ideal racecar on circuits against the powerful muscle car veterans of the WSC. Very light, and extremely slidey at the rear wheels, it's a challenging, but fun and involving ride. (Furinkazen, Lancia test driver)

438pp. Allowed Tuning: Sports ECU, Engine Stage 2, Sports Intake Manifold, Fixed Sports Suspension, Customisable Gearbox.

Shelby Mustang GT350R

It seems daunting at first but after a bit of practice the Shelby Mustang is an absolute monster. You're always on the edge of your seat with this beast and you can never relax, which is in some ways why I love it. You'll never have a boring race with it. (Lout, WSC GT class winner in WSC III)

457pp. Allowed Tuning: Customisable Gearbox

Race Schedule / Information.

Your worst points scores is dropped, except for Round 4 at Le Mans, that cannot be dropped. Dropped scores are factored in after Round 5 at Eiger.

WSC Official Pre Season Test - 18 October
The Roar Before The Rolex - Daytona Road Course

WSC VI's field gather for the very first time with the pre-season Daytona test to sort out final specifications, and any tweaks to rules ahead of the season opener of WSC VI in 48 hours time.

Round 1 - 20 October
The Rolex @ Daytona - Daytona Road Course
80 Laps / 284.8 Miles

Last season the traditional Daytona WSC race was extended and arguably was the most physically gruelling race on the calendar. Drivers have little time to rest between sharp hairpins and chicanes concealed beneath the banks of the world famous Daytona International Speedway. It is going to be a tough start to the season.

Round 2 - 27 October
Monza 200 - Monza NC
56 Laps / 200 miles

Monza is always a tough event, high speed and narrow roads make it a supreme draft battle. Racing tends to be very close, with cars in packs slipstreaming and swapping positions constantly. Losing the draft or making an out of sync pit stop at Monza will kill your race, such is the level of consistency required.

Round 3 - 3 November
ADAC Sportscar Masters - Nurburgring 24hr
19 Laps / 245 miles

The WSC returns yet again to tackle the almighty green hell of the Nurburgring. The GP track has been dropped and now we race solely on the Nordschleife. Bumps, jumps, twists, and turns are all to come as the WSC races through the green hell, through the night and day and the changing weather in a true endurance test of driver and machine.

Official Test Day - 8 November
8th WSC Le Mans Classic Test Day- Le Mans 2005 NC

The Le Mans test day is now just 48 hours before the big race itself, and is an opportunity to get some laps in for preparation for the biggest race of the season.

Round 4 - 10 November
The 8h WSC Le Mans Classic - Le Mans 2005 NC
50 Laps / 420 miles

The 7th running of the most prestigious sportscar race of all, Le Mans is a real test. For over 3 hours, flat out at approaching 200mph down the Mulsanne, bumps in the road wanting to chuck lighter Prototypes to the side. The speed is immense, and so is the concentration required on a 8 mile lap. Either way, Le Mans will always live up to its reputation as one thing - a classic.

Round 5 - 17 November
Switzerland Grand Prix - Eiger Short Reverse
75 Laps / 113.25 Miles

][/URL]
Road Racing has always been in the blood of the WSC competition. The second event at Eiger is a road race around a very short 1.5 mile track, with downhill sweeps, a tunnel, and twisting hairpins. The unique pit area is located on an entirely different section of track, some half a minute away from the race circuit. Pit strategy and positioning will be key for having a strong race.

Round 6 - 24th November
Toscana Grand Final - Pescara
80 Laps / 269 miles

Pescara has written its own legend in the WSC. a 3.5 mile triangle of public roads that is a flat out test. The fastest line is the inside, but the close you get to the inside, the more you find out bumps and small dips in the road, waiting to spit your car out and send it flying. Speeds average over 150mph here, its a truly taxing test, with the final one being the Italian night...

Round 7 - 1st December
Spa Sportscar Grand Prix - Spa-Francorchamps
60 Laps / 261 miles

Spa hosts the season finale of the WSC with a 60 lap endurance test, highly demanding as drivers tear up the tarmac located at such famous corners as Pouhon, Radillion, Blanchimont, and Eau Rouge. Changeable weather keeps everyone on there toes - flash floods and rain showers are not uncommon in this region, and can turn a race on its head very quickly.

If you DC or DNF before the 2/3rds mark of the race distance, then you will get half points for your position.

If you do not make 2/3rds distance but are still in a spot to get points, you will receive half points.

Both sentences say the same thing, i.e. that you get half points just for starting the race.

But what happens, if you DO make it past 2/3rds distance, but do not finish the race or less than 90% of class winner's laps...?

It's 2/3rd class leader distance. Unchanged part for several seasons, i'll re edit it..

I'll rejoin GT for the final season, might go in the lambo but will have to grind the money I need to get the car before next friday

I guess taking the Alpine is out of the question? If so, I'll take the Camaro.

Well I'll not be giving you that Lambo. Your system will no doubt go tits up before I get it back.

"On a rules side - points now for fastest lap will ensure drivers are giving it their all" << Fixed

Well that rules the Corvette out, not happy with that idea!!

 Fox. By the way, pit stop mandatory in all races, cars with lower fuel consumption are not allowed to 0 stop now ;)

Does not alter the above. Fastest laps belong to the Jag, Stratos and Alpine.

For those who don't read well. Lancia has been nerfed on straights and strengthened in corners, ditto with the E Type. Critically there overall performance over a lap of Daytona Road remains unchanged.

Hats off to Snowcrash for his exhaustive testing

World Sportscar Championship VI. The Lame Duck of Speed! :sly:

Just like every other season, the images of all the cars and the Daytona image won't show for me. All the other images are fine.

I'll join this on a bi-weekly basis with the Camaro if that's alright.

Awesome. Glad I got a reserve in the little Red Corvette this year, can't wait! :D

This remains to be seen especially at the likes of Le Mans, Monza and Pescara. Oh and what has been done about the Alpine?

Put me down in the Jag as a reserve, especially for Le Mans, I want that retribution after it was taken away from me...

FlyingFox

Alpine doesn't have an ECU anymore. Been that way since Le Mans.

Basically top speed has dropped and acceleration isn't quite as good.

Not trying to mess with you (well, maybe a little), but in the OP, for GT class where it reads "Car statistics should be...", it should be "Car specifications should be...".
As far as I remember, you do spec checks before the races, not stats checks... :P

Its still a faster car overall. I await the Daytona test on the 11th to see where we are.

Couple typos in OP being amended. In response to a PM earlier about car specifications, I will publicly say what me and Snow agreed on:

~Corvette and Camaro are the benchmarks around everything else and should not be changed.

~Around Daytona Road with last seasons specifications, all cars lapped within 0.4-0.6 of each other. However there where 12kph / 7.5mph speed differences. On a pure flat out track such as Le Mans or Pescara, this would result in a very unbalanced field.

~Snowcrash subsequently tested and removed some parts from the Jaguar and Lancia (the two biggest offenders), and bought there speed into line. However, the suspension was then tweaked so that they would make up time in corners instead. Around Daytona Road again, at new specs, lap times where near identical.

~A PM I got earlier said I was handing to faster cars on a plate. I would disagree. Lancia was getting fastest laps tail end last season and got slowed down. The allegedly slow Corvette got a 1-2-4-5 in Spa qualifying. The Alpine lost ECU and with it a great deal of top end. The E Type as aforementioned is slower on straights but better in turns now (also applies to Lancia).

Wow almost full entrylist.
Is there room for me ??
If yes I´d like to take a Miura (C3 and Z28 are the fastest I know, but optically the Miura is just pure ***).

€dit: I can´t make the Season finale.
