Can an 850HP Trophy Truck Conquer a Go-Kart Track?

We’re sure many Gran Turismo fans took some improbable cars around the Kart Space track in GT6. Well, Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS) pro, Carl Renezeder, did just that in Carlsbad, California.

Fans of LOORRS probably recognize Renezeder’s name. He’s the most successful short track off-road racer of all time with 122 race wins to his name. He has also won 12 championships, 9 cups, and a few Baja 1000 races over his 23-year career. As a result, to say he’s great behind the wheel of an off-road racer might be an understatement.

Despite all his wins, there was one thing Renezeder still needed to conquer, the K1 Speed track.

The K1 Speed track typically runs 12 electric karts that can reach a speed of 45 mph. This is a far cry less than the 850 hp Pro2 Trophy Truck of Renezeder that can easily eclipse 100 mph on dirt.

Even with all his hooning, Renezeder shows remarkable truck control as he laps the track smoking and sideways. It also helps that unlike most consumer level trucks, trophy trucks don’t have the turn radius of a small yacht.

Readers can follow Renezeder as he takes on LOORRS events across the country. He currently races in Pro4 Trophy Trucks, which is the 4WD variant of the Pro2. At the time of writing Renezeder is currently sitting in third place for the 2017 season. His next race is at the Wild West Motorsports Park in Sparks, Nevada August 26-27.

For those looking for some fast paced karting, K1 Speed has 35 locations nationwide. Although don’t ask to bring your street car in to turn a few laps.
