If you get rid of the cats the Ford EEC is going to go nuts. You need to get MIL eliminators on the rear O2s.

I agree with skip about messing with the emissions systems, but you seem to know what you're doing. Definitely a sweet ride no matter how you look at it. sounds like you're going to make it truly worthy of the snake emblem:scared:

So how much is your insurance per month? And your car payments? And why oh why are you planning on molesting the car? The fact that you are already planning on stuffing another engine in it not only makes the car less valuable as a collectable but ruins the Shelby-ness of it. Granted this is just my opinion and I'm woefully outnumbered here--but you do understand that you ARE ruining a Shelby Mustang. Why couldn't you of just bought a Mustang GT and done the same things with it? It would of been easily $25k~35k cheaper that way--and that's considering the Shelby bodywork already purchased. I just don't get it. 👎 :grumpy:

25-30G less?....hell no! This cost me just over 40,000G and a regular GT is at best 25G and the interior is no where near as unique nor is the outside. The engine is the same size and everything except for the material so I don't see where you're going there. Plus most of the other things I'm putting in are Shelby Automobile officially licensed and don't violate the warranty. Plus its not like I'll every sell the car.

Electronic throttle? Ugghh. The worst things ever invented. I'm not just picking on your car, but pretty much all new cars. I'd love to get a new performance car when I can afford one, but I can't stand the though t of having to deal with and e-throttle. I can launch, shift, and rev-match my Sol, and even my dad's old Ranger, and smooth as pie, but I can't drive my buddies' Cobalt S/C or Mazda 3 worth a poop. I've been conditioned to expect the gas to go when you tell it to, ya know?

Yea its horrible technology right now.
But yea if you drive auto for long enough it's interesting going to manual

edit and yes I'm on a friend's account as I am not home right now but its me R8

You bring up a good point. I'm going to talk to a few friends of mine that really know their exhaust and emissions stuff about that.

I work at a Ford dealer I know that you can't get a GT500 for its suggested retail price. Ford and Ford dealers apply a markup just like the did with the Ford GT. Sorry, getting one for less than $55k-60k is nearly impossible. Secondly, the interior is reletively the same with exception to some badging and the front seats along with a few minor cheap trim pieces. Thridly, the engine sizes are NOT the same, the regular Ford Mustang GT has a 4.6L V8 and the Shelby GT500 uses a 5.4L V8 with an Eaton supercharger. They aren't the same by any means, anyone that says so doesn't know what they are talking about. Forthly, the point I was making was that you would not only save money by modifying a Mustang GT but you wouldn't ruin an original "factory" Shelby GT500. I don't care if it doesn't violate the warranty, it will lose a bit of collectablity and worth by modifying it.

For $40k-ish you could of bought a Roush Mustang which is just about as fast (maybe the same or faster) and doesn't have a $15k-20k markup in price. I stand behind my statement.

No offense mate, but he might be buying the car to drive and have fun with, rather than retain value. If you want to buy a car and then store it for a few years and drive it as little as possible to retain as much value as possible for when you want to sell it then go ahead.
Also, it's not "ruining" the car by modifying it. In this case R8Man is improving on weak points of the GT500, poor weight balance and soft-ish suspension and further upgrading the impressive specs of the car in regards to the braking system and engine. I don't see how that ruins a car.
Finally, no-one in their right mind would modify something that was truely rare and unusual (like an original GT500) but it's not as if the new GT500s are being produced in rediculously limited numbers...

You can get a shelby at 2G below sticker if you have a family member that works for Ford like I do through the X-plan form Ford. I was #1 on my dealer's list since Decemeber 2005, 5 months before you could order the car! Just because your dealer is making people pay the price they want doesn't mean I had no chance to get below that. The other person getting one from this dealer is only paying 5G over. Also I have an 2008 on order from a small dealer in MI and I have a written agreement for 2k over. I don't want a regular Mustang or a Roush or even a Saleen. I bought a Shelby for just that...The name Shelby. I doubt that if I use the official products created by him that any Shelby fans or Shelby himself will be bitter at me.

2nd, I got the interior upgrade package so there is alot changed from the regular mustang, leather wrapped gear shift, dashboard, and alumiumn pedal covers. Plus all the seats are leather. And the interior also has SVT door sills and cobra stitched into the seats and a logo with the cars name on the steering wheel. Its a good deal different from a regular GT. And its not like I'm changing the whole appearence to the car...you can't always see the engine and you aren't going to be able to tell the difference between a Cast Iron Engine and an alumiumn one because that engine bay is so crowded. Also like Revhead said, I'm just improving on what Ford left out of the car. So excuse me if you don't like what I'm doing.

As for the engine size comment, I meant that the supercar GT and the Shelby already share the same piston heads and the engines are the same size. I didn't mean the Mustang GT had a 5.4L

Woah, since when are you getting a second Shelby?

Woah, since when are you getting a second Shelby?
I never told you about it because:
1. I might sell it.
and 2. I know you're going to bug me to let you have it.:scared:

P.S. He's already tried to get me to put him in my will with him getting the Shelby:banghead:

As is par for the course, with any ludicrous claim and knowing your history, I'm point blank requesting a photo of said car with a hand written piece of paper stating "GTPlanet.net r8man" stuck under the wiper and same sign, sitting on the intake manifold w/ hood open.

If this is true, you own a piece of Automotive history, as there are not many GT500's being made. You own a seriously collectible vehicle, that many people were willing to sell out cash just for the chance to buy one. Any you're already looking to toss the engine out of it, along with various ludicrous ideas. The battery weighs all of 30 lbs, moving it does nothing for a car this size.

I'm quite skeptical you own this car.

Will you all just give the guy a brake! :grumpy: He's put some pictures for your viewing pleasure and all you can do is give him grief. Oh and he can do whatever he wants to the car since he actually owns it! He might end up doing what he's planning and at the moment he's excited and toying with the ideas.

An aluminium block does not mean he'll change the whole engine, however that is a big job and will cost a lot of money. Honestly I'd give that a miss. He may choose not to bother with it. Upgrading the supercharger pulley I believe is a good idea. These cars are also built with comfort and noise levels in mind. If one is prepared to loose a bit of comfort and gain a bit of noise, than performance can easily be improved.

Things like dry cell car batteries weigh between 10 to 15lb deliver a much more uniform current and operate much better under G in track days. Saving 15lb in weight just on the car battery is good idea in my book. Every little helps.

Things like CF mirrors and front bumper, 10mm racing ignition leads, iridium spark plugs, test pipe, performance cat-back exhaust, headers, upper and lower strut bars, coil-overs are cheap upgrades that simply make a great car even better. I can't see how that's going to upset the original look of the car so much, especially since the CF mirrors and bumper would be painted.

The brakes are also a good place to upgrade, vented and grooved brakes are noisy but if track time is on the horizon an essential upgrade.

Lastly I can not see how a Titanium/CF will upset the look or originality of a car as you can't even see the thing unless you're under the car.

By the way r8man, 575+ Bhp in your Cobra could be achievable without the aluminium block but you'd also need some Dyno time to make the most of everything. With the aluminium block Consider moving to a higher octane fuel and you can gain more Bhp and durability that way too. If you're prepared to pay a bit more money on fuel than some more aggressive fueling and advanced timing will do wonders.

No, I will not give him a break. He's been caught in numerous lies before, on this and other forums, and d returns after a one year ban, with a nearly ludicrous claim. He then purports to increase that claim with even more outlandish claims.

A teenager with a rare and expensive car, with a highly suspect dream of bigger engines, elaborate improvements, and wild HP claims along with track time plans, absolutely screams "Teh Interweb Klaimz!"

I'll doubt it, until I see pictures as requested.

Thank you for being the only other sensible person in here. I refrained from the "you don't have the car and those pics are fake" statement in hopes someone else would do it. My statements just got a bit more crediblity. Oh and even if you (r8man) produce said pics, those can be faked too so I won't believe them. Infact the pic of "you" standing next to the GT500 looks fake to me, and I am having a friend of mine with an art degree in computer animation and design taking a hard look at it in Photoshop.

And as for the part I've highlighted in bold. I redirect it to this post:

Finally, no-one in their right mind would modify something that was truely rare and unusual (like an original GT500) but it's not as if the new GT500s are being produced in rediculously limited numbers...

It is produced in limited enough numbers to qualify as a collectable. Period. And for christ sakes, ITS A FREAKING SHELBY MUSTANG. GOOD GOD PEOPLE, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU. I blame the age group. No one that's posted about him modifying his Shelby was even born when the original GT500 was in production. So of course they wouldn't appreciate how valuble and collectable one is. That to me is more appauling that the fact that this kid is trying to fake owning one.

It.
Is.
A.
Shelby.
Mustang.
GT500.

Can it be more clear then that? Come on, where are the people who'll back me up on this.

I actually disagree with most of what you're saying, JCE, which is rare.

For one, this statement:

Oh and even if you (r8man) produce said pics, those can be faked too so I won't believe them.

That's just closed-minded. There's no way he can prove he's not lying if you won't give him some sort of benefit of the doubt. There's got to be some way he can prove he's not lying.

Furthermore, I've already seen several Shelby GT500s. I don't really know how rare they are, but they're not the automotive God that you and Der Alta seem to think they are. And remember, people modify just about everything, no matter how rare - Hennessey has put custom exhausts on a Veyron, McLaren F1 owners refuse to stop modifying their cars, I've seen Lamborghinis and Ferraris with aftermarket chrome wheels... it's not too far-fetched to think he'd want to add more performance to a performance car.

However, regarding this statement:

No, I will not give him a break. He's been caught in numerous lies before, on this and other forums, and d returns after a one year ban, with a nearly ludicrous claim.

If that's true, then I would consider him a liar too. But I consider him innocent until proven guilty - that's how it should be.

EDIT: I just went through all of his old posts - only 97 of them. Didn't see any lies.

People modify the new Shelby GT500 all the time. Plenty of people on SVTPerformance and Modularfords own them, and mod the hell out of them. Some people take it for what it is - a Mustang - and treat it as such. Sure, in 40 years an unmolested stock one will be worth a lot, but who cares - it's a freakin' car. People enjoy the car for different reasons - some because it has the potential to be a rare collector's item in the future, and some because it's a supercharged 5.4l Mustang with the potential to be made extremely fast. Different strokes for different folks.

Can it be more clear then that? Come on, where are the people who'll back me up on this.

I'll stand alongside you and Der Alta when it come to questioning his ownership. Some healthy skepticism can't hurt, given his past record (which I was not aware of when I first read this thread).

But there's no reason to get hysterical over it. Your post makes it sound like his claim is a personal insult to you or something.. I don't get it. Not critisizing you for doubting.. just wondering where all the angst is coming from.

If he doesn't own the car, the pictures will never appear and he may or may not post a series of pathetic excuses attempting to explain why. Then we can all snicker a little and that'll be the end of story.

If he does, then he'll have no trouble producing pics on demand. You make it sound like its impossible for a young guy to have a nice car. It happens all the time.

Personaly, I would accept producing the owner's manual and original window sticker on the dashboard with the car running close enough. Hand written sign on the intake manifold would be nice too.

Standing next to the car and getting a pic is easy. Getting the other items only owners have handy (keys, manual, window sticker) is another thing altogether. Of course, the car could be his daddy or uncles or whatever.

Read through this thread, particularly from my first post on. He posted a race time that was blatently made up. (He would have had to do every lap faster than his stated, and corrected, fastest lap in order to get his stated race time.) He asked for a temp 1 year ban just after that incident.

Yes, I am closed minded when it comes to that statement. I don't have a problem with people saying that because it is true. And I won't give him the benefit of the doubt because a) it is the internet and who knows what anyone says is true b) without help from parents or lawsuits or whatnot it is nearly impossible for a 22 yearold to obtain the funds to purchase a $40k+ car. Sorry, I don't believe it. Especially since he says he is a mechanic...unless you are a BMW or Merc mechanic you won't make enough money to afford that much of a car.

People modify the new Shelby GT500 all the time. Plenty of people on SVTPerformance and Modularfords own them, and mod the hell out of them. You are correct in that people have modded the GT500 already and that they treat it as a regular Mustang. That is precisely my problem. It ISN'T a regular Mustang, it is infact not only my favorite Mustang namesake but one of the best Mustangs ever. No one under the age of 35 will truely understand the worth of the Shelby GT500 NAME much less the entire car. I say it is a generational thing. And you are right, it IS a "freaking" car. And I am all for enjoying it--to a point. In it's stock form enjoy it to your heart's content.

I'll stand alongside you and Der Alta when it come to questioning his ownership. Some healthy skepticism can't hurt, given his past record (which I was not aware of when I first read this thread).

I wouldn't so much say that I'm hysterical as frustrated that people seem to be dismissing the fact that it is such a rare car. Just because you see some on the road doesn't make it less collectable or less rare--yea that sounds weird but I believe it to be true. I've seen enough Ford GT's, Gallardo's, and DB9's in this area--that still doesn't make them any less "rare" or valuable.

There really isn't no 100% fool proof way for anyone to "prove" that they own any cars. If I owned this car or a car of its value the last thing I would do (other than mod it) is make a thread about it on a populated forum such as this. That's just asking for trouble. Ok its time for me to stop posting in this topic as its obviously going no where. That is, unless someone decides to provoke me otherwise. lol

Anyone know what the production number on this car really is?

Numerous lies. BS. I asked to be banned because I was getting flamed for any little comment I made by members who claim to be honest themselves and that they are supposedly some of this site's "best" members. I never flamed back at them so I guess this is how people who act correctly after being flamed are treated...Go ahead and shake you're admin powers around but until you request those pictures politely I will not reply to anything you say about me or my car.

You are passing up a prime opportunity to really rub an admin's face in it?

So you don't own it then?

And don't double post.

So because Der Alta and myself are arrogant you won't provide the necessary pics? How about this.

Please provide the pics he requested, the proof of the production number, user's manual + handwriten GTPlanet.net along with your name on a sheet of paper under the wiper, on the valve covers/intake, and whatever other pictures he requested. :)

Nothing about DA's request was impolite, quite the opposite...

...what you are being asked to do is no more or less that any member would be asked to do, had they made the same claim. Just because DA is sceptical about your claim (and he is not the only one) does not mean he has been impolite or rude.

So I also ask politely, can we see the requested pictures.

He obviously has access to a camera. I say post a video clip of yourself holding a gtp sign and walk around the car and open the hood and stuff. That is harder to do.

My local Ford dealership received 2 Shelbys, the owner of the dealership kept one, and my 60+ years of age collision repair teacher got the other one. I don't think they would have an extra one laying around for some kid to drive around.

Wouldn't it be easier to grab a camera and do it now? Or maybe charge your batteries for an hour if they are dead? If you need 36 hours to get a few pics of a car sitting in your driveway, then that is enough time for you to easily drive to someone elses house tommorow and get a few pics.

36 hours? Why the lag time? Isn't it in your driveway or garage? You have the perfect opportunity to make us look silly tonight. Do you not have access to the original window sticker, owner's manual, the keys and a camera?
