No, we considered it. If it was 36 hours after the challenge message was posted before he logged on and saw it, I could buy it. But he's stated he needs 36 hours AFTER HE SAW THE MESSAGE to furnish a picture...

...which smells awfully fishy, like he needs to phone up an uncle across town and run over to take the picture once the car is there.
 
This is serious business. I think someone might be lying on the internet.

Really, who cares. He has the car, his uncle has the car. Whatever. I'd be more interested if he invested his time giving some thoughtful commentary on the driving experience, or, hell, even the styling rather than running around getting pictures to satisfy the whims of a bunch of cynics.

I'm not saying he's lying but obviously along with everyone else we need to see the GTP message next to his car. Then again, it could be his brothers/dads car.

Again, anybody who's ever participated in one motorsports event - even a $20 Amateur Night at the local 1/4 - can legitimately claim to 'own' a racing team.
 
i own a racing team........ i call it the 'gt4 ass kickers'....it's on my memory card...also whats the point of investing time in how it drives if he doesn't own the car or if people don't believe he owns the car???

To be honest I don't know much about American cars especially those of the older variety. I mentioned it just in case it was a rare car which he claimed to own.

That's a question that only r8man can answer. Maybe he likes to "big himself up" by pretending to own a nice car. Maybe it's a sexually orientated fetish. Maybe he actually owns the car and wanted to share it with a community like GTP.

I don't know how you prove something like this without showing a photograph of the logbook.

Yep. 36 hours is about the time it takes to call up the uncle/friend's dad/cousin's former roommate and make a desperate plea to take some pictures.

If he is for real, this ain't asking for much. All he needs is to 1) be home with the car and its accessory items, 2) have the computer turned on and logged into GTP and 3) have his camera in hand with a set of batteries. How hard is that?? Why does that take 36 hours to set up?

It shouldn't take more than 36 minutes.

Lying is against the AUP, Skip. If someone stated a $20 bolt-on accessory gave 100 whp on his car, wouldn't you want to at least see a dyno? Or would you consider that whining and just accept the claim at face value?

I have posted details of 2 of my cars on here, I actually have another one now as a family car. I never got this kind of grief. I'm not sure if I posted any pictures but if I did, I'm not in the picture and neither are the number plates. Besides if the guy is lying, so what? I made an effort and entertained his post as truth and he might have lied to me, I won't loose sleep over it. Ignore him and his thread and move on. Even if he's actually telling the truth this thread has become a complete farce.

People are proud of their achievements, a good 2nd hand tuner car. A brand new car, just bought which cost a lot of money. I post some pictures. If I'm honest and I get such responses I would just think it was a waste of time and forget about it. I might even remove the pictures links and have done with it.

As for not posting any personal information it's just my beliefs, I'm quite wary of doing such things on the internet. But that's just me.

I printed it and I wiped my arse with it earlier. That ink sure stings though.:ouch:That was a joke by the way but you probably won't see the funny side of it.:ouch:

In either case I've spent a bit of time writing 2 posts to the guy in good faith that he's not lying and although, if he is lying, is time wasted, I'm cool with it. It happens.

How is a number plate "personal information"? For that matter, how is a V5C (or American equivalent) or insurance certificate with the holder's name/address erased "personal information"?

Both situations must have the same answer, because they are both of the same format. "I claim (stuff). Is my claim automatically true until (person) can prove otherwise?"

Innocent until proven guilty is applicable in a court of law (though not if you've ever had a speeding ticket). Where claims are made it is not.

The reason? Stuff is untrue unless it can be proven to be true. It's very, very hard to prove something to be untrue outside of mathematics.

From the words of the great Chappelle, I will only believe the video if your holding a valid drivers license along with 2 other forms of ID, 4 of my friends are watching you make the video along with my best friend taking notes, and your grandma does a walk on cameo claiming that it is your car and that it belongs to you. (I missed some stuff, but you get the point) :lol:

EDIT: just saw the video and it at least proves that someone owns a GT500, unfortunately my uncle would not hesitate to give me the keys to his c5 to go out and start it up.
