i just wanted to start alittle thread reguarding the new car sounds in gt5p, what do you guys think of them? What car sound you think increased the most? i for one think, after testing each car, i think the nissan gtr is the most improved.. also for a surround sound stanpoint... when your in, incar veiw passing cars can scare the **** out of you now:nervous:. i mean the new ingame race sounds seem to create even more imersion then befour

last but not least the blow off valves
:sly:

It appears to me rather than being all together new sounds for the cars, they have added extra layers of sounds.

e.g Turbo spool and blow off, some mild transmission/drivetrain whines, extra depth when throttling on load rather than the same sound as when in neutral etc.

I'm wondering whether I can hear that Turbo spooling and the blow off valve sound clearly by listening to the stereo output of my old plasma TV.. :nervous:

ps: I don't have surround sound system in my home..

The game does sound much better. The cars passing are very pronounced now, but sometimes they overwhelm my cars engine. It really seems to bother me when trying to come out of a turn, because I can't hear my own engine to know when to shift. Other than that I like it.

I for one think that the BOV should sound MORE REAL them they do and have different types that u can choose from.. from TurboSmart to Blitz Gready etc.. I think it would be a great option in the game.

Thats something to hope for in full GT5 when we can buy parts rather than quick tune.

That's how the BOV should sound on the Mine's, but as for the Tranny whine, like Viper said, the whine is there. And I like how they are getting the realness off the cars.

When your behind a really loud car, you will hear it over or close to as loud as your car even with the windows up. I know my car deafens the people who follow me. Deafens me a little inside too, but I can hear the echo of my exhaust come back to me with the windows down and I know it is throwing some serious noise. Cops would love me if they ever followed...

The idling sounds have also changed (at least for a few cars). They sound sweet now, much more real and crude.

So far, biggest improvement in sound (for me) has been the M3. Leaps and bounds better than before, like night and day.

I also like the fact that the tire screeches have been toned down (especially if you try the cockpit view).

As for hearing the other cars more, it's a very good thing.
And it's natural to hear the front car a lot louder if he's right next or in front of you, because on most cars (and we're talking about road cars here, with sound insulation and all), the biggest part of the sound it produces isn't heard while inside it or if you're "on the front bumper".
I think they did a good job with that. 👍

I'm extremely thrilled to hear about the sounds. I really think sounds is a very important aspect of a racing game, plus it really brings your faith back to see them working hard and improving the game bit by bit.

Now, if I could just download that update...

I've only tried a couple of online races since the update, but I found the "new sound" very disturbing. Off the line, there was so much noise from the other cars, I couldn't tell what my car (tuned Corvette) was doing. Also the wind noise, in cockpit view, seems to have increased, drowning out the engine noise.

I'll reserve final judgement until I've raced more with a variety of cars, but personally, I always thought the balance of noise between the cars was perfectly done previously - letting you know where they are without overwhelming the sound of your own car. Now it reminds me of Forza!

I would love to hear the classic turbo KSSSSSSSSSSS in the middle of every gear change. It is the best sound in the world next to the blug blug blug blug blug of classic cars.

When racing online and your behind a car, there car is alot louder.. Last night was in my f40 and was behind a Mines GTR and could only just hear my f40...

Thats because your directly behind their exhaust..the sound waves from their cars are hitting you directly while your exhaust sound is coming from behind you...How do you expect to hear your car more than the one infront?

Well when I cant hear **** all of my car its kinda hard.. I didnt see anything wrong with the way it was before but now I cant hear a thing. Im missing gears or looking at the revs all the time.

Anyone mind posting a video of a car running a BOV, and a video of the GT-R so I can get an idea on the new sounds?

sometimes i feel its sounds like im driving with my windows down at 250km/h... but then again i never drove 250km/h maybe this is what it sounds like.

I felt the balance of sound was really good before. I think it's very important to be able to hear your engine in the game, because we're missing a lot of the other RL cues to what the car is doing.

Did you change your sound settings? The update put them all at default, I had to go in and reset mine to "small theater".

I havent changed them no. But i dont think I changed them before this update either.

Wow the new sounds on the game is just amazing. The cars sound real this time around. Don't get me wrong I love GT5P but one of the things that bothered me the most was the sound on the car. Finally an awesome update. Yessss! :P

Listen to the Ferrari 599! used to sound like ****, it's much more beefy now. I'm just annoyed that all cockpit sounds sound so manipulated and unpleasant as it's my favourite view

The engine sounds are vastly improved. The turbo blow off is more prominant but I think it could still be more enhanced. But all in all, good improvements.
