gt5p udate "new sounds"

What sound setting are you guys using in the options? Small Theater?

My audio sounds good but not as good as I'd hope for. I have a 5.1 system.

Edit: and about the Vipers, why are the steering wheels so big and annoying on both Vipers?

I have a friend who is so hopeless in his driving that he spun the Motorcarrage on Cote'd'Azur and hit a wall... I was dying of laughter. :)

@gusbo,what does that have to do with this thread??
or am i missing something...???

spyrrari.

Would u be interested in something like that though? cause the BOV sounds are so pathetic they're from like gt2 or 3... :indiff:

I couldn't agree more they are becoming a bit of a pin in the bum.

I used to have a Focus RS and was going to get one fitted to it (BOV/Dump valve) but I was told by a friend who used to have one on his Evo that after a while you become sick of the sound.

Better than nothing IMO, I was referring to getting better BOV sounds through aftermarket parts in that post though.

I never got sick of mine, just after a while you don't notice it. Though I really got sick of my friends HKS BOV, boy was that annoying.

For comparison, here is a movie showing the new GTR Evolution game:

http://www.youtube.com/v/6N-dsSSSugY

Even on this crappy youtube video you can hear that the sounds are excellent in this game, you can hear the gearbox shifts and the backfire from the exhaust pipes, very nice indeed. 👍 I hope GT5 will match or even surpass this. :)

That's a good vid and I do like the transmission sounds and the more growling engine noises, but after GT5P it sounds anodyne with no wind noise or tyre roar. Overall I think GT5P actually sounds better, all it needs is a bit more depth to the sound.

i love to see anyone post some videos of some cars with the new sounds please and in good quality cause on you tube i cant hear a difference nor even a blow off.

I did notice something disturbing yesterday, when driving the R8 on Suzuka a Clio was hot on my tail and I actually could not hear my own engine sound anymore because the Clio was so much louder. Not sure if that would be the case in real life. ;)

yeah that is kinda weird.

Weird, but the Clio with an aftermarket exhaust (tuned clio) Should be much louder than an Audi R8 in real life. I don't think it should drown out your own engine if your in front of him though.

I'm starting to find it a real problem, not knowing what I'm revving at or whether I've had a successful gear change. If you change the sound options I think it does have an effect, but it' still not as clear as to how it was pre-update. I've even found it being in the same car as the one that's following, it still seems to drown out my engine.

I haven't tried it yet, but does the option of lowering sound effects while in-race also lower the volume of other car's engines?
Might be worth a shot...

Think changing the sound effect volume works globally unfortunately, hopefully come the next update PD will include an option for changing individual sound volumes.

I find whole volume thing in GT5p very strange, especially volume of engines in replay. They are loosing their sound too quickly as the car is going away, even in Large Theater sound setting. In real life, I am able to hear any V8 Ferrari's exhaust sound at least one kilometer from me. So I'm constantly fiddling with my home theater volume knob, once when racing, once when watching replay and yet once when watching replay from near the car.

Many reviewers of the Audi R8 have mentioned how quiet it is, even TopGear's Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson. The Clio runs off a V6 engine which IIRC is quite a noisy thing!

Yeah, it's kind of weird that I can hardly hear the engine sound of my Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo when there're cars racing besides me... even when I turn the Race Sound Effects in the audio settings (in "Option") to 120, with dynamic range as Living Room! By the way, I'm using the stereo speakers from my old plasma TV which is connected by component cables for both video and audio output.

It appears that I can hear road sounds now through my surround sound, like bits being picked up from the track and hitting the car etc, like gravel? Maybe its my imagination?

Also, I like the new dumpvalves sounds, more realistic even if they are annoying after a while.

I understand that it is more realistic that other cars motors drown out the sound of your own, but the update can sometimes make the sounds very 'messy'.

For example, a car is not always directly in front, behind or by your side. So, when a car is actually ahead marginally, it can sound as if it is directly by the side of your car, even through 5.1 dolby. I guess this would only be perfect through 7.1 dolby.

Somehow the cockpit cam doesn't sound so good anymore. I've noticed a big change since the update because that's the only view I play. Now the car view cam sounds so much better and louder. It's just weird, I think it's just wrong how it sounds inside. I tried tweaking my sound still no luck. Oh well.....I guess I will have to live with that until they come up with another update.
