gt5p udate "new sounds"

I hate how you can't hear your car behind other cars now, it makes shifting much much harder. The sound of an evo shouldn't be over powering a z06 anyway.

To answer the question, I believe BOV stands for "Blow-Off Valve". It's the pressure-release valve that vents the turbo when you let off the gas. Keeps it from blowing up, if I remember correctly... the excess pressure has to be vented when it's no longer being pumped into the engine.

I'm pretty sure the sound was there before... I was driving the F40 this morning, after several unsuccessful attempts to download the update, and I noticed it then. Unless the partial download included the audio updates, which were implemented before it was complete? I suppose it's possible, since I didn't notice any change in the sound once the update was fully downloaded and installed.

Ive been using the Amuse S2000 since the update, and the blow off from the turbo is definately more pronounced than it was before.

What I would like to hear more is supercharger whine. Granted when driving the ford gt I think I hear it but I'd love it to sound more pronounced.

I am very happy about the improved audio in the game.
Seems like PD listened to their fans by i'm quite certain, reading the thread we started about the concerns involving the aforementioned topic.
Most of my beefs have been addressed including volume of the sounds and tyre screech.
Road noise is still way to high though.
I also said that the Ford GT LM car sounded like a bloody V6, but now has been changed to sound like thunder it should have been.
BOV's could also be increased in volume but i suspect it will be the case when upgrades come into play in the full game.
Gearing down also has been tweaked to include full rev range.
Even the less powerful 'civilian' cars sound much better stating a much more aggressive stance.
The only thing left imo is the engine splutters, pops, farts and backfire, then it will be complete.
Overall as sound goes two thumbs up to PD!!

The only cars that do the above are those lame 50 BHP cars that PD insist on putting in the game lol. who uses those cars any way.

I use those cars and enjoy them too.

try going around fuji in a 50 BHP car, it'll take you 20 minuets lol.

Haha, thats why I drive them on Eiger mostly, in GT4 I tested all my cars on Nurburgring (well almost, not the Model T or the 1886 cars) and will do the same in GT5. :)

i can remember when i had a 360 with forza 2 and i took a VW Golf mk1 round the Nurburgring until i ran out of petrol, i could have gone round in a Ferrari Enzo but i didn't i used the golf and it took me a very very long time lol.

Plenty of time on your hands then.

I guess Vipergtsr01 must be the REAL GT_Fanatic then.:sly: I to tested all the cars in standard trim from GT4 on Tsukuba and the 0-400m/top speed track.Left the Ring for the cars i liked only (also to settle a couple of bets!).I guarantee some of the best racing online will be the so called 50 hp cars as everything happens at a slower pace so its up to real commitment and strategy to win.

Ps if youve ever drag raced a '79 mazda 626 versus a '82 toyota corona you will know what FUN is.......all 19 or so seconds of it!

For what it's worth, the Model-T could finish a lap. The two horseless carriages couldn't, they can't make it up the hills. The Model-T actually does fairly well, because the downhills let you get a lot higher top speed out of it than you can on a flat track, by letting it coast.

Each to their own I suppose. When first starting in single player, then clearly you have to start in a slow car and work your way up to the more powerfull cars in order to progress. Once i've progressed up to the high powered exotic cars, I find that going back to the 50 BHP cars bores me. I prefer the high speed element of GT games, but if you enjoy the slower element, then thats fair enough.

I think it should be made a public sevice to GTP that everyone should race in an online Suzuki Swift-only race at least once. It was and is epic.

If any-one else has surround sound , it is truly amazing , you can even hear the transmissions whine !!!
PD , DID A GREAT JOB ON THIS !!!!!!!!

The sounds certainly are much improved. but that faint humming sound that the Suzuki Swift makes is dull, it's a bit like a wasp buzzing round your head lol. :)

PD nailed the street car sounds, however I'll reserve final judgement when we can drive JGTC cars, this will be the real test.

+1, was a real nuisance when they originally changed the tyre regs and it messed up the Swift Cup!

Have to say I'm liking the sounds, though there are still a few imperfections. Cars seem louder at idle than they do when revving now, though having a noticable idle is a good thing. I think the levels need a bit of adjusting.

I was also thinking when I was driving the Elise 96, a bit of a "clack" from the gearshift wouldn't go amiss, even if it's really subtle, and a little more distinction in the noise as you go over bumps or go into the gravel. If you've ever seen in-car footage of a touring car going into gravel it makes a right din, so we need more of that!
