Did you get your name from the character in the Gunmen of the Apocalypse episode in Red Dwarf?

I know you're a dwarfer, so I linked the two. If not, why did you choose the name? Or shall it remain a web mystery?

Was it really necessary to make a thread for that? P.M. is there for something, I think...

I am sure a number of people may indeed have a twinge of curiosity about it, myself included.

Why do you use Sureshot when guns are banned in your country?

In all honesty, the Red Dwarf reference would have been my last guess, as I was thinking it may have been named after actual famine or maybe even from the reference that Red Dwarf made, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Passing around metric rulers again????

"Really! cm is French for inches. The French make all the standards!!!!"

You were half right, Nigel - the four horsemen reference is from one of the Discworld books, when they tried to ride out for the end of the world but had their horses stolen when they stopped in an inn for lunch. I forget which book it was off the top of my head. It's where Famine's B-spec Bob got his name from (Pestilence).

Our rulers have both inches and centimetres on. Not that that's how I got the nickname.

That would be the 1 Horseman and the 3 Pedestrians of the Apocralypse from Sourcery.

The Queen has inches and centimetres on her?

Well I have acquired the nickname "Nine Inch" at college. Need I say more?:sly:

You've been proselytising about the Nails again? :D

Sourcery - I happened to be reading it at the time I started university in 1996 and was thinking up a username for what I believe to be a now-defunct discussion board for the Amiga game Worms. I chose "Famine, the Third Horseman of the Apocalypse" and, by bizarre coincidence with B-Spec in later years, my horse was named "Bob".

Famine, thou hast exposed yerself.

We now need it in an interview or something, as a reference for a Wiki article.
